  • Indigenous leader Warren Mundine says the Indigenous Voice to Parliament is “built on a lie” that Aboriginal people don’t have a voice.
“We do not need this in the constitution,” Mr Mundine told Sky News Australia.
He said to “close the gap”, the focus must be on education and employment.
“If it goes through and it’s in the constitution, then we got to make sure it actually works for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people on the ground,” Mr Mundine said.
“I’m going to be fighting for their voice on the ground.”

I've never seen any evidence that the Aboriginal community in Australia will ever change. In the 70s I can remember there being a grand debate going on, if instead of paying them with supplies we pay them with money can the men be trusted not to blow it on alcohol and gambling. Now in the 2020s, a little while back I checked in on Australian politics and the only difference in the debate is can the Aboriginal men be trusted with a credit card not to blow their wages on booze and gambling. They've been there 60 thousand years and all we hear is one list of demands after another. Jewish people really arrived in the 60s. Look at Elsternwick and other Jewish suburbs, they're beautiful. The Vietnamese had a hellish time when they arrived in Oz in the late 70s and 80s and look at them for the past 20 years they've gone from strength to strength. Australians will give any community a go, it is not a racist country and Aboriginals are at the bottom of so many charts because their own culture and attitudes. This 'Voice' thing is more bullshit. Do what everybody else does and contribute. Work and contribute.

Why can't we have more like Mr Mundine who speaks for all Australians who does not want to divide us and drive us all into poverty with a government economy destroying polices and make us more defendant on them. Everybody should be given an equal fair go for education, jobs and a comfortable life without government committees who talk but deliver nothing locally to those who really need it.

Thank you Warren - what happened to the more community based people like you in Government, we seem to have so many selfish public servants cemented in power. Serving the country in Government was once a more noble cause - now we over pay and under achieve in every Local and Federal Government.

I think changing the culture to a more agrarian one will help. Teach them how to grow their own foods and animals. This will give their community more jobs, be less reliant on shipping their food from town centers.
