I just received my set of 1/2" metric stubby impact sockets yesterday and used one today to remove a crankshaft damper from a Cummins ISX motor... I used my Milwaukee 1/2" impact, the first gen I believe, had it a few years. I think 1000 or 1200 ftlb of torque. These 18mm bolts have been in there since the factory installed them in 2009. I used the stubby, because I did not want to loose any torque, as I knew these would be a real bear to get out. Yep, it was a bear. I used a Milwaukee 9 volt lithium battery, I had to tighten the bolts for a few seconds and then loosen, and they would break loose. I think roughly twenty of them, and I believe 150 ftlb or torque, or maybe 115 ftlb, I have it written down. Only telling you guys this so you know what I was doing... These were M16 bolts, with a 1.50 pitch. The Capri impact socket faired about like I thought it would, a bit rounded in a few spots, but it got the job done. I figure it has a use or two left in it for tough jobs like this. Regular usage, I would have to say it would have faired better. For what I paid, about what I expected. Would I purchase again, yep.
I've got the Astro Pneumatic stubby impact sockets and found the 22mm wrench option useful in tight spots. I have also been pleased with all my Capri tools.
Also he says capri like capri sun when its actually said as cap-ree.. cap as in soda cap. Got it straight from the manufactorer. Call them on the weekend and see what there voicemail says to confirm.
I've been dancing around getting something like this, some of the other versions of the stubby sockets (AP, Sunex) have the option of having the ability to fit a 22 mm wrench directly onto the socket and bypassing the square drive altogether. I'm thinking it could be a good fit with one of the mountain wrenches in a tight spot that needed a bit more offset than the mountains provide as well as more options on sizing. I appreciate the reviews and the videos!
I know you are not a fan of their ratchets. I've used their flex head and regular fix head for 8 months now. Works fine for me. I also have their ratcheting wrench set. Like those also. Good videos. Thanks.
I think the manufacturers use the plastic to protect the sockets from delivery services. I had a tool set that was mishandled so bad that even with the foam the sockets popped loose and damaged each other. That being said I like the solution OEM tools has for their 3/8 socket only deep and standard sets. It also annoys me when manufacturers offer sets for the larger sizes that still have a gap, but the new ones have a holder that doesn't have space for the gap, leaving you with two sockets with no holder. Like when you have 10-24mm, and the next set is 27-38mm.
All sockets should be size roll stamped, unless you want tools for looks and not for use. Laser etching wears away with normal use and when rolling around in the box.
Both the Sunex and Astro sets are slightly cheaper (come just on socket rails though) and have a 22m hex end that is more useful, so can't see myself ever buying these unless they were cheaper.
I have since bought this set, and use it all the time in place of my standard length 1/2" sockets. They are great for front end and work where you can't quite get a stubby impact and a swivel socket, I just put them on my long handle 1/2" flex head ratchet.

I recently bought the 1/2" stubby and it did not come with a case. The price was $39 so I would not complain
Pound for pound Iam really happy with the items I have bought from Capri thanks for the review👍

Capri seems to be inching ahead of the other imported tools
I like the Atsto Pneumatic stubby impact sockets. You can get a 18 piece set for around $30. And they are warrantied.

I just bought some capri ratchets. Id buy sunex sockets over capri sockets
Who has used 1/2 drive 10mm socket? Mine are still untouched since I bought my set (Pittsburgh)
Yeah i wouldnt use a 10mm on a 1/2” drive
Pretty cool, pretty sure I don't need them, though. I am absolutely sold on the cases.
Ain't that the truth. Lol
ive been looking at these do they make a 27mm in stubby? need one for a control arm bolt on one of my cars
I would like to see a long term review of these. i am probably going to get a set in the future.

I knew that I was buying this for case rather than the actual sockets. 😁 I bought the Sunnx low profile.
What brand is that low profile ratchet?
Some of the 24mm sockets in the set are actually a 22mm. Have you checked yours?
I like them.
Awesome video !!! But the ending music is killing me way to loud and annoying
