Is it assumed if you go the route of special order that the vehicle will be delivered? Or are there known issues that could cause the order to not get “filled”.?
@Grey Ghost Customer orders are subject to the same part constraints as any other order. As far as I know, the factory doesn't prioritize one over the other. So it's completely possible for a customer order to be on an extended delay due to a constraint. Several months. I met a guy that finally got his '22 ZL1 not long before I got my '23 LT1. Worst cases scenario, the just cancel your order. This has happened with some ZL1 orders in recent months. I think usually happens because of severe part constraints. I couldn't say how often orders are cancelled. I think only in extreme circumstances.
@@jimrageLT1Do they run your credit when you place an order? I think I’m at 630 on my credit score I would like to build it a little more before it’s time to lease/finance the car.
@@koonyeezy6433 My dealer didn't pull my credit when I ordered. However, I have heard they do for higher trim levels. The definitely will for a ZL1. Deposits for those are also higher. If you're credit is so-so, use the wait time, for your order, to get your finances ready for purchase. When I knew roughly when my car would be delivered, I secured financing with my credit union so I was ready and didn't have to haggle with the finance manager. But I wouldn't be surprised if some dealers require it for all orders.
Sounds like GM canceled your order, unfortunately. Was this recently? They closed the books on new orders maybe 2 months ago, I heard. With production ended last week, they're not building anything anymore. I hope your dealer gave your deposit back.
I am glad I ordered a 2023 Shark Skin ZL1 M6. I waited 8 months to get the car. It was built the second week of January and delivered on Feb 2. Thank you for the video sir.
I bought a Chevy 2500 HD/LT on 03/23/2024. I got a copy of the workbench order and gave a $1000 deposit. I don't think it's refundable but I am not all that concerned about that part. The order number is 6 letters. Everything i wanted is on there. It's this allocation business that concerns me. It's been a week and I think they said they had allocations coming but Chevy so far has the order but has accepted it officially yet. Total estimated time they gave me was 12 weeks or less. Oh and now we have a bridge collapse too.

Super helpful, thank you. I put in an order for a ZL1 1LE and I’m hoping the build gets approved. The dealer made me do a credit application and assured me they had an available allocation but I’m not sure they know for sure
Glad this helped. Bad news about the ZL1 1LE, though. LethalGarage just posted a video with a screenshot of the list of allocations, by percentage of the total planned build, that have been handed out. ZL1 1LE is listed as 0%, meaning they haven't sent any out due to parts constraints. Now it doesn’t list these by number only by percentage so a few could be allocated and it would be less than 1%. If any have gone out, I hope you're on that list. Good luck!
I put a ‘23 order/s in back in April. That never came through. Dealer contacted me Aug 7th about 1 allocation they had for a ‘24 Camaro and I scooped it up and ordered a 2SS 1LE. Within a week it went into the 3000 status(YES!) with a TPW of Sep 11. And now I wait for a strike looming, potentially, on the 13th 😢 Fingers crossed
While you are waiting for your build, you can also check dealer inventory for something similar. You might find someone else built your spec or a similar spec and backed out. That's how I got my car. Also, because I waited so long, I had saved up more money and was able to make a bigger deposit, so I actually got a better car.
Great video! You hit all the good points! Your a pro out here on RUclips! Very confident on camera! Your absolutely right, just because you put your money down don’t mean you got a Camaro coming
Looking at ordering a 2024 at the end of this month, the dealer is asking for $2000. for a allocation which is fine...I would be happy to see it next year at this time as ordered..But according the sales person, that is not how allocation works..You get first dibs on available models that come in that may not be as you ordered.....Great informative video thank you..
Hopefully, I'm just misunderstanding what you've posted here, but it sounds sketchy, in the part of the dealer. Sounds like they're claiming to "sell" you an allocation and you get (basically) whatever car they get in from the factory...or maybe I'm just oversimplifying it. $2k is kinda high for a deposit on a non-ZL1 (in my experience, anyway), but I guess it's up to the dealer. But unless somethings changed, dealers can't "sell" allocations. As far as getting a car different from what you ordered, it's possible if some options are no longer available before your order is built, but it shouldn't be anything too drastic. But I would hope your salesmen would be in contact. This why you should try to get the order status code from the live agent in the chat. There is a code that indicates if your order was changed by GM. Regardless, a 2SS would be a sweet ride. Good luck!
They were slow to roll out the 2023 configurator too. Makes no sense to advertise they're taking 2024 orders and not have the configurator ready. I created my 2023 build on the 2022 configurator. Pricing for options was pretty much the same and they told me to add $1840 price increase for the new model year.
Yes my dealer had the configurator so it is available, I have the gm order workbench printout for my car. The salesman didn't know or was able to get into it. He had the new car manager help us, which was cool since he had a camaro too.
Great video. These are all the steps I took with my own attempt at ownership (even the live agent). Dealership I ordered from was excellent and up front with me. They did not have allocation at the time but accepted my order and deposit, as expected ($1000, and I confirmed it was fully refundable at any time). I do not know where I stood on their order list. I used GM build and price online first, and then sat down with them at the dealership. I will say that their computer system was glitchy, to no fault of the salesman. At one point, we had to start all over because he couldn't go back and update a feature. It seemed to freeze quite a bit. I would add to the video that you'll want a free two hours when you go to visit the dealership to place the order. Why there is no integration between the build and price site and the dealership is downright confusing. He had to enter each and every feature in, so you have to have your online build and price printout with you to make sure you get each associated part number right. Hopefully, you'll have a descent salesperson, as mine was. I do wish they would just make the vehicles orderable online and collect deposit through the build and price site. I received regular updates from my salesman, that GM hadn't picked up the order. I reached out to the online agent and they couldn't find the work order, and called my dealership directly. So the online agent really did go above and beyond, without my prompting. At one point, 4-5 month mark, the dealership called to let me know my order still hadn't been picked up, but they received 2 Camaros in stock and wondered if I wanted to come in to look at them. It was around that point, shortly after, that I cancelled my order. It had been about 6 months. To me, if you get them in stock, you received allocation of some type, and chose dealership stock instead of putting that allocation toward a special order. In the end, all I can say is that it was nice to get an $1000 surplus in my bank account 😆
Wish you would've been able to get your order. In my opinion, it changes how you feel about the car. Makes it feel a little more personal to you. Still, a $1000 back in your pocket for mods is still pretty nice.
I can only guess based on when they cut off 2023 orders, which was June 15, which was about a month or maybe 45 days before they stopped building them. So if they're still ending 2024 production at the beginning of January , I would guess middle of November or early December...but that's just a guess. Hope this helps.
Is really hard to say, especially with both the strike and the recent announcement of GM ending production early (November 22 for convertibles and Dec 7 for coupes). It really depends on if your build calls for parts on constraint or not and if your dealer regularly gets Camaro allocations. If they've keyed your order into the system, it should have generated an order workbench that has your order number. If you have that, bypass the dealer and check your order status on the Chevy website. But in my opinion, there is probably no way to be sure it'll get built at this point.
I just went ahead and purchased a new Summit White 2023 SS. I didn’t want to mess with the ordering process and the long wait. I was able to find a car that was pretty much spec’d out the way I would’ve done it if I would have placed the order myself. I am 100% satisfied with my decision. Now if you just have to have the 2024 model, I would suggest that you do an order because if you find one on the lot I would assume the mark ups are going to be ridiculous.
Congrats on finding what you wanted in dealer inventory. You also skipped out on the standard new model year price increase for 2024. Nothing wrong with that.
In looking at the Chevrolet inventory online there are a lot of Camaros marked as "in transit." Do you know if those cars represent all of the remaining cars to be built to the end of the run, or will some Camaros be available that are not currently marked in transit?
I don't work for a dealer, so I can only guess. But being as how we're in the last 30-ish days of production, I can't imagine there could be too many more that aren't listed yet. A salesman should be able to find if they have anything else on order that isn't listed. But my opinion would be what you see is probably it. If you see one you like, you can contact the dealer and put a deposit on it so you get first shot at it . Good luck.
Nice. Convertibles aren't my thing, but a ZL1 is what it is...awesome. Did your order, in Canada, allow you to get all season tires from the factory? Or are you stuck with summer tires?
I turned mine in October of 2022 gave $1000 deposit. Took 4 months to get accepted by factory. 2ss 1le in Rapid Blue was finished and shipped to next place for wrap April 5th 2023. As of now it is still sitting waiting for shipping in Ohio 2 months since factory finished it. I’m at around 9 months it takes forever in the order process.
I hear stories like this and brings into perspective how fortunate I was with my order. Has there been any actual communication from your dealer about it?
@@jimrageLT1 yes at first it was still waiting for allocation then it was accepted and only took a week or so to go through the factory. Ever since the my shipment date has changed 3 times. My dealer has just told me still waiting for shipment. Fist arrival was end of April, then 3rd week in May, and now I’m at the 16th of June. My dad ordered a ZL1 and it went to the factory 1 month after mine. He already got his 1 1/2 weeks ago. I was unaware the 1le package had to ship to a different facility after done at factory to finish up the flat black wrap. Fingers crossed I will get it in a week or two
It came in yesterday going to dealer tomorrow to see it, signing papers Saturday and picking it up on Monday. Have appointment on July 3rd for PPF, ceramic coating, and ceramic window tinting
Went to the dealership on 6/15 and the dealership still isn't available to place the 24 order as of yet. But our name is number 1 to place it once we can.
I've never ordered a truck, but I expect the process works the same way. It's been a long time since I've been in the system so I can't promise they havent closed or changed the loophole to get you access to a live person. Good luck!
Ordered a 2023 2SS Sharksin Metallic back in March. GM still has not accepted the order. Supposedly GM stops taking orders for 23s in June and production for them August 3rd. 24 production starts August 7th. Any chance GM will push my order to a 24 Camaro at this point?
I have heard of that happening a couple of times. I guess it would depend on where your order is in the queue and what you optioned in your build. I would think if the factory expects to have it all before they wrap on the '23s, then they'll build your '23. But if they do push it to '24, I would hope they'd give you a chance at a collector's edition if you want it. But I've never had to deal with that, so this is all speculation on my part. Good luck.
FYI, it’s more than likely the color option. Call your dealership and ask what the constraints are on your order. It will tell you why your order hasn’t been accepted. I waited like 4 months for my sharkskin. Had my brother check on the order and GM wasn’t building any shark skins at the time. Changed my restraints and my order was built/delivered a month later.
Great informative video. Thanks for taking the time. Has anybody here combined trading a car when placing a custom order? Just curious if/how that process works with the time delay between appraisal and delivery...
I was going to do that, but The Dirty Daily was worth more to me as a paid off daily driver that I still liked than what they were going to give me for it. But it would work like any other trade-in. They just won't officially offer a trade amount until you're ready to purchase your order based on the mileage and condition when its time to buy. Hope this helps.
@@jimrageLT1 my wife is. Has always wanted a Camaro and is trying to nab one in its last year here (it'll come back but probably all electric or something 😕). Pretty disappointed with the collector's edition package though.
@Mikell Czermendy I was briefly dazzled by the press release renderings...but that was before I heard about what it came with...or what it didn't come with, rather. Still looks good and would love to have one, but it wouldn't be what I hoped for.
I ordered a 1SS 1LE on April 1st. My TPW was this week 6/12/23. I’m hoping I can take delivery by the end of the month since I only live 4 hours away from the GM plant.
I haven't, personally, seen any proof that anyv 2024 allocations have dropped. All I can say is that enough orders have been taken to sell out all of the collector editions ZL1s when allocations become available.
Didn't miss it. I accidentally cut it in the edit. The word is they will start taking orders for 2024s a week from today, on 6/15. I dont know if the website configurator for 2024 will be live or not. If it's not, you can still use the current one as a basis for your build and bring it with you to the dealer. They'll have info on the options for 2024 and can work with you to adjust your build accordingly. Hope this helps.
The 2024 ZL1 Collector's Edition will be a VERY difficult car to find, even if you are willing to pay a $25,000+ mark-up on it. So, do you have a reliable lead anywhere in the country for me to contact to try to order one?
In the Camaro6 forum under ZL1 there is a sticky thread that lists all the known CE ZL1's and which dealers they are at. Probably most are sold but you may get lucky.
I ordered a 2023 2SS 1LE M6 car on feb 27th,I was searching for a dealership with an allocation and finally found one .I left a large deposit for this allocation, Well ,THEY LIED ,There was no allocation, I would recommend anyone ordering one of these from a dealer who says they have an allocation to have documentation that they really do ,So My worst fear is a reality, Im continuing this BS in 2024 ,I walked away from dodge in 2023 because of all the bullshit and the tremendous increases by Dodge and i have to say I think GM is even worse,Atleast people get their Dodges ,I hear nothing but nonsense from people ordering Camaros ,But i will let the process play out.
Man, sorry to hear that. All it takes is a little honest up front - "We don't have an allocation yet, but we typically get them every other month" - or something like that. Just we know we aren't getting strung along. Thankfully, my dealer was up front about it. I hope you get one soon. Good luck.
There is no 2024 camaro kids. GM has only the C8, Malibu as the only cars for 2024. Sorry burst bubbles. I've been to 6 dealers, same thing, 23' was the last year for Camaro as we were all told in mid 2022.
I've never driven the manual in a 6th gen, but those that have swear by it. I've, personally, heard zero complaints. Hopefully, a dealer near you has one you can test drive.
Test drove a beautiful 22 1ss 1le and 23 gt body in white base gt yesterday back-to-back. Not a fair comparison to be honest. Auto vs manual. Track car vs base model. The camaro felt more planted certainly. Mustang was much lighter on the pocket AND ford is currently offering 0% for 36 mo. My middle-aged self gravitates to the ford incentive for sure. A significant savings. Slept on it hoping Id wake up favoring one over the other…no luck.
Hi jim I just watched your video on how to order a 2024 Camaro and I had a few questions. I was wondering if we could factory order a car online without travelling to the dealer. And do you have any info when GM will accept orders for the 2024 Camaro? would be much appreciated if you could reply back.
I know you can shop online through chevy and purchase a vehicle from inventory and a dealer will deliver it to your home, but I don't believe you can do that with a factory order (to the best of my knowledge). Dealers started taking orders for the 2024 model year on 6/15.
You could try opening a gourmet lemonade stand. Fresh squeezed lemons in fancy French water. Charge $15 a glass. 3000 glasses later, you'll be good to go.
unfortunately the camaro6 resource is no longer possible. GM changed their internal database and the "insiders" can only check on cars ordered through them now.
They can, but it won't be "official" price until they get an invoice. It's possible prices on some options may change from the time you order to the time you take delivery. But if you ask for the "out the door" price, you should get something that's really close and even though it's not the official price, still try to get something in writing for your own piece of mind. Hope this helps.
That's a fair point. In the edit, I did cut a part about there not being any mention of when the 2024 configurator will be live. When I ordered my 2023, that configurator didn't go live until a month later, and my dealer did tell me what the price increase for 2023 was going to be.
You're not wrong. I made this before all of the collector edition details were released. Even just a 25HP bump would have made it worthwhile for most people.
Will these sad scammer dealerships ever stop scamming? They got 2021 and 2022 lt1s with 10-20k miles going for 40-43k like wtf is that going to drive 20k miles and sell for 5k over msrp

Good luck.
Jim, that was a most awesome and detailed Video ! waiting for my ZL1 convertible to arrive. Hello from Canada
Nice. Convertibles aren't my thing, but a ZL1 is what it is...awesome. Did your order, in Canada, allow you to get all season tires from the factory? Or are you stuck with summer tires?
@@jimrageLT1 They all arrive with "Summer" tires, i'm ok with that, as most people here store their muscle cars in the winter.
Would be nice if GM could follow through just one time. Hopefully the process will get moving soon...for real. Good luck
Is there a order check spot for chevy trucks? Or do they only check Camaro's?
I've never ordered a truck, but I expect the process works the same way. It's been a long time since I've been in the system so I can't promise they havent closed or changed the loophole to get you access to a live person. Good luck!
Very helpful, thank you. I’ve been at 3000 status on a Colorado ZR2 since April 18th.
Wow. Now you have me curious about constraints on other models.
I ordered a 23 back in march and nothing… 😢 so now I’m hoping for a 24
update? i placed a order during april and i checked the status for it and it says my vehicle has been produced
Really good info, much appreciated.
Thanks! Hope it helps. You looking to order, possibly?
@@jimrageLT1 my wife is. Has always wanted a Camaro and is trying to nab one in its last year here (it'll come back but probably all electric or something 😕).
Pretty disappointed with the collector's edition package though.
@Mikell Czermendy I was briefly dazzled by the press release renderings...but that was before I heard about what it came with...or what it didn't come with, rather. Still looks good and would love to have one, but it wouldn't be what I hoped for.
Rumors of a 2025 Z28 being the farewell to the Camaro in the fall. Is there any truth to this rumor
So far as I know, nothing about 2025 has been officially specified, but that's a lot to hope for, imo. :(
I ordered a 1SS 1LE on April 1st. My TPW was this week 6/12/23. I’m hoping I can take delivery by the end of the month since I only live 4 hours away from the GM plant.
It's exciting when you get to that stage. Hopefully none of your options are on constraint. Good luck!
I ordered a 1SS Z4B today, 500 status!!!
Let the waiting begin! Let us know how the process moves along for you. Congrats.
😂😂 good video
Thanks!
Any updates in allocations?
I haven't, personally, seen any proof that anyv 2024 allocations have dropped. All I can say is that enough orders have been taken to sell out all of the collector editions ZL1s when allocations become available.
Excellent video. You should educate the dealer vehicle purchasers. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks. I hope it helps someone with their ordering experience.
when can you start ordering a 2024 Camaro ? did I miss that ?
Didn't miss it. I accidentally cut it in the edit. The word is they will start taking orders for 2024s a week from today, on 6/15. I dont know if the website configurator for 2024 will be live or not. If it's not, you can still use the current one as a basis for your build and bring it with you to the dealer. They'll have info on the options for 2024 and can work with you to adjust your build accordingly. Hope this helps.
@@jimrageLT1 , great thanks, I was on the Chevy site about an hour ago and they only have option to build a 2023 still
The 2024 ZL1 Collector's Edition will be a VERY difficult car to find, even if you are willing to pay a $25,000+ mark-up on it.
At the very least, they're off to a horrible start. Low effort build and release.
cool car, should I bother? I want a manual v8 but I've already had a dodge and don't like Ford's new mustang.
I've never driven the manual in a 6th gen, but those that have swear by it. I've, personally, heard zero complaints. Hopefully, a dealer near you has one you can test drive.
Looking to purchase a 2024 SS convertible ...
GM definitely needs to provide incentives on the Camaro. They have a lease deal on some trim levels but never anything on a purchase.
Good info!
Thank you!
Great info. Thanks
You're welcome. Hopefully it helps someone in need. Thanks for watching.
C'mon GM, you can do better than this.
Seems like it wouldn't be too hard.
Got my allocation three weeks ago for my 23 zl1 shark skin metallic !!! Can't wait !!!!!!!!
Sharkskin AND ZL1? You might be my hero right now. Hope all goes well.
You are going to LOVE the sharkskin zl1 Joe
i have some sharky zl1 photos if you are interested in seeing them!
Where do I get the money to afford a Camero? 🤔
You could try opening a gourmet lemonade stand. Fresh squeezed lemons in fancy French water. Charge $15 a glass. 3000 glasses later, you'll be good to go.
@@jimrageLT1 Probably more like 3500 glasses due to cost of goods sold. Lol.
Good video by the way.
That’s a very rare vehicle....🙂
unfortunately the camaro6 resource is no longer possible. GM changed their internal database and the "insiders" can only check on cars ordered through them now.
Good to know. Thanks for the info!
Once you placed your order they will give u the final price of the car including the fees and taxes?
They can, but it won't be "official" price until they get an invoice. It's possible prices on some options may change from the time you order to the time you take delivery. But if you ask for the "out the door" price, you should get something that's really close and even though it's not the official price, still try to get something in writing for your own piece of mind. Hope this helps.
@@jimrageLT1 I appreciate it bro, so then I can go get my car loan before it gets delivered. By the way, nice video dude really helpful.
That's what I did. As soon as I knew it was shipped, I secured my own financing and walked in with an approval letter. So much less hassle. Good luck.
Lower the CEOs wadges and redesign the Camaro so people can see i hate to see American muscle gone forever
the build and price for 2024 not even out yet so y build it
That's a fair point. In the edit, I did cut a part about there not being any mention of when the 2024 configurator will be live. When I ordered my 2023, that configurator didn't go live until a month later, and my dealer did tell me what the price increase for 2023 was going to be.
I’ve been planing getting a Camaro 2ss 1le since 2 years ago and I’ve been in the configurator, hopefully this is the year
This HAS to be the year.
Same boring hp i bet. Im not even going to finish watching this. The camaro came back out in 2010 that ss should have been over 500 hp by now.
You're not wrong. I made this before all of the collector edition details were released. Even just a 25HP bump would have made it worthwhile for most people.
@@jimrageLT1 yes man, im just disappointed. Same thing as the Corvette that C8 stingray should have been over 500 hp as well.
Gm is going bankrupt and out of business
The EV switch certainly clouds the company's future
Will these sad scammer dealerships ever stop scamming? They got 2021 and 2022 lt1s with 10-20k miles going for 40-43k like wtf is that going to drive 20k miles and sell for 5k over msrp
100% #Facts.
