My 2023 Camaro LT1 Walkaround and How I got it
Know if you’ve dealt with Germans, like I had many times in my work, it sounds to me like it was a fire caused by a EV of some type. Because they’re phrasing translated into English is very much like that.
They don't really get recycled anyway. They throw most of it away.
About 5% recycled, last i read. Gotta do better than that, for sure.
@@jimrageLT1 It's just too many diffferent elements mixed together. Not economic.
I guess insurance coverage isn't needed either. Talk about stupid!!!
It’s really funny, I keep having people tell me that gasoline powered cars are bad and that electric vehicles are powered by rainbows and unicorn vaginas.
Gas powered cars are so bad I feel guilty every day mine doesn't spontaneously catch fire. Rainbows and unicorn vaginas - that's too funny.
I've known of two fire stations in my area to catch on fire. One was in Collinsville, OK. A small town, about 15 minutes north of Tulsa. In spite of being a small town, Collinsville had a full time professional fire department for a long time. There were firefighters sleeping in their bunks upstairs that night. The firefighters all got out safely, and if I remember correctly, got the two trucks out of the bays. To get the fire under control they required help from other communities nearby, including Owasso, a larger suburb of Tulsa, Collinsville's neighbor to the south. Then Tulsa sent them a ladder truck. The building was pretty much a total loss. They also have the Collinsville rural fire department very close by, staffed by volunteers, that loaned the full timers space while their station was rebuilt. The other fire station to catch on fire was Tulsa's fire station 13. Which is located on the west side of the City. It's staffed by one company, and they were out on a training exercise. Another company from stations 25 happened to be driving by in their brand new truck they just acquired and were out getting training on the new truck. Hey, they got to put it to good use. I think that fire was traced to a small appliance, possibly a coffee maker. Afterall, what full time fire station would be complete without a coffee maker? The damage to this station was mostly due to smoke. The other company happened to drive by before things could really get rolling. The Collinsville station, I don't remember the cause, it was during the winter, so possibly the heating system. Both of these were before Li-Ion batteries were invented or so predominate.
At least don’t up badge I have a 2012 Camaro too but unless u swapped the engine or modded to make zl1 equal power don’t change the trim badge or add a wing. A lil lip spoiler is still nice but subtle.the lights and bumper are understandle.

The EV battery 🔋 recycling business is hot 🔥🔥💯🔥🔥 right now.
Awesome car really enjoyed your story.Congratulations take care of that baby..
Thanks. I surely will.
And you wonder why this asinine video only has 87 likes.... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Future facilities could be built (besides the hilariously documented in this video!) to prevent fratricide by vehicle stall containment. What might that look like, including roof design and material? The replacement of the casualty station could be a good place to try it, along with advice and expertise from the fire insurance industry (who have access to relevant stats).
Thanks for the forecast! I have a quick question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
You would have thought there would have been some staff already present and on duty at the fire station?
Blame it all on climate change
More like the monetization of climate change, I think
It was a car charging....... lol, small lithium batteries don't explode. I've been using them for over a decade. Never once have i heard of one combusting....... darsh.
some of the black mass could not wait for the main celebration by starting early it seems
but EV is safer for the environment and nothing dangerous is produced from them, or so they claimed.
I feel safer already
Battery chemistry technology will eliminate this issue.
We can only hope, but I'm not confident in overcoming the issues the use of lithium presents
no, it can't eliminate the issue because the issue is the energy density. Any battery that can be used in cars should have a high energy density. The actual batteries are not enough energy dense so the trend is in the opposite direction. Any battery which has enough energy density for a car can start a fire. The LFP's are harder to ignite due to the lower energy density not due to "chemistry".
@orionbetelgeuse1937 Battery chemistry HAS eliminated fires in certain chemistries. Yes density is not up to par with the more fire prone chemistries but time will advance them .
Wow all that Water or foam sprayed on the fire from those toxic batteries Proably ran off and went into the Underground Water Aquifers. But I'm just a Dumb driller I don't know Anything.
I wonder how long that'll take to manifest itself as a problem.
The way things are it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't sabotaged. You know to provide a means to an end.
Someone else suggested it is an insurance scam
@@jimrageLT1 most likely because the recycling is not so profitable yet if it burns it provides a good exit from the business with some money in the pocket
Saving the earth is goine UP IN SMOKE. Funny how all the greenies INVENT more ways to RUIN the earth with fires, batteries, child lable etc.The only GREEN i the money in theirpockets
That's why politicians should not be making decisions around the future of any kind of manufacturing of any product. They seem to think that we can just jump right to the end result they want and fill in the technology later. It's not a coloring book. It's the manufacturing of dangerous products!!!
"It's not a coloring book." That's spot on.
They're saving the environment remember 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Yeah...I feel safer already
The EV/Green delusion. It'll get a lot worse before it gets better because unfortunately ignorance is rampant.
Saving the planet, one environmental disaster after another. Go green !
What do you expect from the stupidity of government. Same here in Australia. They think they going to run the country in solar energy. Madness
It's all good, now that we have a fearless leader coming soon, we'll be drilling for oil and gas, and selling it to other countries. Maybe he will recognize that EV's are not selling, that they are not "GREEN", that they are even worse for the environment, and it's impact; and water only makes lithium explode. It's Bill Gates, the WEF, the WHO, and all their puppets that force these things on us; while they poison people with nano tech and spike proteins that didn't do what they claimed would do. I wish others could see thru them as easily some of us do...
Idiot trudeau has thrown 10s of billions of Canadian tax payers $$, at 3 NEW EV Battery plants here in Canada. The one site not far from me, St Thomas Ont, looks like a war zone, with dozens of dozers, excavators, back hoes, and land movers actively preparing..the Diesel fuel trucks on on speed dial, keeping all this heavy equipment rolling. Of course it's all done in the name of "jobs"..but I see it as being nothing but a giant tax sucking, white elephant.
10s of billions....for THREE plants?
@@jimrageLT1 Yes, it is insanity how he spends Canadian tax $$ with such disregarded abandon! Copied from the Conservative web site, who are the opposition to the trudeauliberals. Ottawa, ON - Rick Perkins, Conservative Shadow Minister for Innovation, Science and Industry, issued the following statement regarding the Parliamentary Budget Officer’s new report on electric vehicle battery plants and allegations of using temporary foreign workers instead of Canadians to work at the plants: “Today we learned that the multibillion-dollar subsidy to Stellantis may be funding as many as 1600 jobs that won’t be going to Canadians, but to foreign workers instead, despite the Prime Minister’s promises of jobs for Canadians. This is not acceptable. “Justin Trudeau has also been hiding the details of the massive corporate subsidies he gave to electric vehicle battery plants for months, but the Parliamentary Budget Officer let us know today that the costs are much higher than the Prime Minister has been letting on. “According to the PBO, Canadians’ subsidy to the three battery manufacturers may be as large as $43.6 billion, almost $6 billion dollars more than the government told Canadians. These massive overruns are happening before these large projects have even gotten off the ground. “The Prime Minister must do two things. First, he must come clean and release the contracts he signed with Stellantis, Volkswagen, and Northvolt so that taxpayers can know how much money they are on the hook for and what provisions have been secured to actually ensure that there are good, long-term jobs for Canadians. Second, he must guarantee that Canadian tax dollars won’t fund jobs unless they are for Canadian workers. “Common Sense Conservatives will ensure Canadians’ tax dollars are used wisely, and that new jobs in Canada are exclusively for Canadians.”
Hopefully the recent change in political winds will shut this lunacy down before we all get either incinerated or poisoned.
A lot to hope for, unfortunately.
sure hope so but that is a massive order.
Why is water used to put the fire out? Seems like a great way to make some highly-flammable hydrogen gas.
BOOM! And assuming this fire is "out", what do they do to keep it from reigniting itself? Can't submerge the building in water or sand they way they do for an electric car.
Sunce most of the E.V's are owned and used in large cities All the recycling plants should be located in the same localities.
The same reason people who support nuclear power change their tune when you try to build a plant within 50 miles of their house.
@@jimrageLT1 Why would a nuclear plant within 50 miles of your house be a problem? Other than ignorance?
It's pretty embarrassing when a fire station is destroyed by fire. The response time should be 0 since fire stations are always manned. I have worked on construction of a lot of fire stations and I'm not aware that any of them have fire suppression systems although the probably do have alarms. A fire station in a city near where I live just caught fire and burned. The cause is under investigation but they are focusing on the kitchen area. This is a good reminder to be cautious with recharging. A lot of trades people leave their tools on a charger in the top of a toolbox when they aren't working, an advertised feature of new toolboxes is the outlets and charging capability inside the cabinets. I don't do that with my tools but like a lot of people I have a laptop computer that is frequently plugged into its charger when I'm not around. My tools however don't get plugged in for very long and I'm always around where they are when charging.
It's a problem in 2024, will be a huge problem in 2030.

They have kept this quiet ...imagine.. Lithium is a nasty thing
Lithium itself isn't particularly toxic: the human body needs ~600ug/L to work properly. Carbon monoxide will knock you out and asphyxiation will finish the job long before you breathe enough lithium to worry about lithium poisoning. Clean-up wise, it is all of the other stuff needed to make it work, especially cobalt (extremely toxic) and nickel in NMC/NCA batteries that are a major concern. LFP uses neither, which greatly reduces the toxic hazard on top of LFP being much less likely to fail spectacularly in the first place. The first step to making lithium batteries safer and cleaner would be to ban the manufacture of new devices designed for NMC/NCA batteries.
Isnt there a tire fire in Wyoming thats been burning for 40 years? As well as many others that have burned for decades. Fires happen
Don't know. I know of the under ground coal fire in Centrailia, PA, and "The Gates of Hell" gas pit fire in Turkmenistan. Yeah, fires happen. But it seems like the fire danger with these batteries is down-played, in my opinion. Especially in EV sized batteries, it's exponentially worse, but it doesn't matter because they can be recycled?
@@jimrageLT1 What's more dangerous, oil and gasoline, or a LiPo battery? If you had to sleep in a room with a 25lb lithium battery, or a 25gal can of gasoline, which do you choose? I choose the battery, because it can burn your house down, but you'll likely escape harm. Gas on the other hand, simply hit a light switch and see Jesus.
Nothing a few more bird-chopping windmills or roof-rotting solar panels can't fix!
That's not roof rot...its plywood patina
Might I draw your attention to the countless industrial accidents that you don't seem to care about every single year. From slightly radioactive water running into streams from gypsum plants, the countless refinery accidents, rail road spills, etc. Lets focus on battery recycling. I mean I can see your commitment. Its not like you are using a cell phone, laptop computer, camera, or use any power tools! Nope not you!!!! You can see the handwriting on the wall and know exactly what is up! Good job man!! In all seriousness. I bet that a lot of this stems from red lights. There is just something that twists inside of car guys minds when they see a family sedan leaving them like they are backing up and the kid is laughing and waving at them in the back seat. I'm not saying this is you for sure but likely is.
Shouldn't you be recharging right about now?
@@CarsandCats I live offgrid... Recharging is a way of life. 2 miles from the nearest power line. Wrangler JL, Silverado 1500, Cherokee, Mahindra Roxor, and 2 tractors. You guys wonder what happens to the modules from EV's?? You know the 'illusion' that they all get thrown away. Go search for Tesla Battery Modules and see the thriving market. The fraction of a percent that make it to recyclers are already damaged. To cry about an accident when battery recycling is a GLOBAL thing is silly. You guys act like this is the only battery recycling plant on the planet and proves they cannot be recycled. Meanwhile ILLEGALLY throwing things into landfills that contain lithium ion batteries!! Edit: If you cannot already tell from the above. My house is powered off Tesla battery modules from wrecked EV's. If they were junk they would be almost free at junk yards.. Amazingly they fetch high dollars and everyone knows it. They tear them apart and sell the modules to the scores of willing and eager buyers.
You're not wrong about industry, in general. So much damage across the board. In my opinion, the difference with lithium ion batteries is they're going all in on something just as bad, or even worse, depending on who you ask and doing so with a "Nah, it'll be fine" mentality. I've said, in other videos, lithium ion - while still dangerous - better serve their purpose in small size uses like cell phones. EV sized battery construction is just way too complex and way too easy to fail when damaged, imo.
@@jimrageLT1 Do you properly dispose of your lithium ion batteries? Do you know its against the law to throw them in a landfill? The batteries that make it to recycling are damaged already. There is a THRIVING market for the used batteries. I live 2 miles offgrid and I use EV batteries to power my house. If you do a quick search you'll discover EV battery modules fetch BIG money with the offgrid crowd. No one is throwing away good batteries. NO ONE! These batteries are not going to fix cars they are going to other uses. Battery recycling is a GLOBAL thing. This isn't the only battery recycling plant and to dismiss the entire industry because of one fire is a little silly. The modules that go into these recycling facilities are a fraction of a percent of the modules that are taken out a year. I cannot stress to you enough that these are DAMAGED modules.
Your apparent internet connection says not TOTALLY off grid, to me. But still, that's pretty impressive. Can I ask if your modules are lithium ion or something else? And would switch to something else like sodium ion if/when they become available to you? Faster charge times, more charge cycles. Energy density isn't as good right now, though. Maybe that'll get better.
EV Batteries, the future my arse..

Much stranger things have happened.
Awesome car and video man! I’ve had my 21 LT1 summit white with the RS package for almost 2 years now. It had the upgraded bigger screen and sound system which is nice. Honestly for under 40k I can’t think of another vehicle that comes close to this power output and the level of handling. It puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. I plan on paying it off quickly and i intend to keep it for as long as possible. The fact that GM discontinued it makes this nameplate even more iconic.
There is no other vehicle that'll give you what this one can for under 40K. I have the same plan. Payoff fast and keep it forever
Another week, another blight on the eye of the amazing lithium ion battery. If we cannot recycle these things safely, what's the point?
One fire at a single plant, and that means we "can't recycle these things safely". Literally countless oil refinery and oil platform fires and oil tankers running aground, sinking and polluting the entire planet, but we can obviously refine and burn oil safely, right...? Just an entire new category of stupid...

How many fires have started from small scooters or the like, many while the scooter is being stored in an apartment building, too many. Small battery or large, when they start there's no putting them out, proven fact. Case in point, this fire station, has a long row of gas vehicles with maybe just one or two small or large batteries, we now have seen the outcome. There's more to say I will leave it for now.
Scooters are probably among the most dangerous offenders for exactly the reason you said. They usually get stored indoors.
@@jimrageLT1 If you walk by or live in an apartment complex just wonder how many ticking b@mbs there are, chilling.
I leased a 23 Sharkskin LT1 almost 2 years ago but the 2 year lease is coming to an end soon. Only things I did to it was switching out the run flats for Continentals and disabling 4 cylinder mode. It's been perfect except for some hesitation when it's been sitting for some reason. It's going to be heartbreaking to turn in this car in a few months, I'm going monday to look at a used Malibu with only 7k miles. No way I can afford the camaro long term if I bought it but was the most awesome car I've ever had while I had it.
If I can ask, is the affordability problem the price you'd still have to have to pay even after leasing for 2 years?
@@jimrageLT1 Yes the buyout price would be 35k. Been paying 480/month for the 2 year lease so payments would be more than I'm willing to pay if I bought it, even with a big down payment. I never intended to keep it, just wanted to get in on it while you could still get these but still painful letting go of such an amazing car. Been my daily driver 50 miles each way to Detroit suburbs but winters are rough here in Michigan, kind of need more practical long term solution. If I were rich would keep it as a fun car but just too much money.
Damn fools😢
They took the name Fire Station literally.
