I think there are Storm Surgeons, Nova Trooper Storm Surgeons, Storm Rifles, Kashyyk Trooper, Field Troopers and assault Stormtroopers. But great video some I didn't even know...
Okay thrilled that you got the Imperial navy Commandos, but you missed the imperial Jet Troopers and the Clone Stormtroopers from the PSP-PS2 and Wii versions of the Force Unleashed. Which is interesting because the Navy Commandos that you did mention are from the same version of the game.

Legends is home to many unusual and even uncanny stormtrooper variants
One you're missing. Look like a snow trooper but all red. Called "Darth Vader's Security Force." There from the 1993 video game "Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back." Some other missing ones: Bomb squad stormtrooper/Crowd Control Stormtrooper (1996 action figure)/Kashyyyk Trooper/ Magma stormtrooper/Minetrooper/Wetland assault stormtrooper. 5:15 Zero G assault Stormtroopers. Well The ones seen in A New Hope when the Millennium Falcon goes into the Death Star are spacetroopers. For film they only had one costume at the time so they had to mirror it to make it look like there were two people. I know that from a behind the scenes interview video. And Zero G assault Stormtroopers are made somewhere in the EU later.
In legends (and in canon? The plague was mentioned in rogue one), there was also "death" troopers that were basically troopers infected with the darkwing plague and turned into zombies. I don't know if these variants technically count since their creation might not have been intentional and merely an accident, but the Empire was experimenting with the plague so it's likely that the idea of zombie troopers crossed their minds at some point.
They weren’t used in any known Imperial operation, and probably weren’t even an official unit under the Empire. If they were an actual military unit I’d understand but pretty sure they weren’t supposed to be.
Imperial Army: one of the most diverse armies in all of star wars, with a trooper for every mission. Imperial Navy: oUr STar DeSTroyers arE THe SOluTiOn tO EvERyTHinG
The Imperial Navy and Army were both extremely diverse, the issue was the Republic culture of the Imperial military. Imperial officers were haughty and corrupt, and Tarkin's solutions to the problems didn't really work. The Republic Navy and Army were both pretty shit, so it wasn't like the Empire had much to work with, but honestly they could have done better had the Republic's elite not been so xenophobic towards aliens. Had aliens been in the Imperial military many issues would have been solved.
One of the best things with Legends is they turn out as good at the end. A Trandoshan Stormtrooper calls a fleet of Jedi and New Republic to kill the last of the Sith.
I like the video, here's a few corrections though. *Imperial Navy Commandos are not Storm Troopers. The armor fools people into thinking they are, its not intended. 2 You got the Dark Trooper 0s correct as well as the Inquisition DT and the other sub variations. The lore for Dark Troopers 1 through 3 is a bit off. The 1st one was designed for testing the Droid aspect of the system. *Theirs two parts of the Dark Trooper program. 1st is the suit-droid hybrid. They wanted power armor that could function effectively like Iron Man's, the trooper could get out and fight on their own OR the suit can keep fighting if the trooper in it is somehow killed. 2 The other half of the program was the troopers using the suit. Technically any trooper could use the suit, but they were creating human bioroid force using troopers for the suits. Because somany force based Imperial that are created by the Empire use Star Killers dna, thats likely the base for the Dark Troopers. Terror Troopers are a bioroid created using Star Killers dna and they also rapidly force telelport like dead pool did in the 1st Wolverine movie. You forgot the Sea Troopers XD Purge Troopers, the ones you showed at first have a completely different origin and are humans. They are the equivalent of the Space Marines in 40k how tough and extreme they are. They are not legends ether. Storm Commandos are not legend, though they could have legends gear. Lastly the best way to describe the ISB Storm Troopers would be like Soviet poltical officers not spies.
So how some can appear in an official movie but not be considered cannon is that Legends sources state that a character or such in a movie is a thing from legends retroactively, but cannon just States that they're regular storm troopers or such
Space Troopers (seen in ANH) are different from Zero-G Stormtroopers. PS: the Imperial Marine showed at 10:20 is exactly a Space Trooper from a mod for BF II ;) !
because Dave Filoni wasn't involved in Star Wars at this time so the Empire was actually a threat. But to be fair to Filoni these 'elite' troopers were just created as excuses to have normal stormtroopers as regular mooks and not much of a threat, which contradicts the lore.
@@parle123 No, it is because they didn't want to portray regular stormtroopers as competent in their games so they had to make more elite versions. The stormtroopers themselves are supposed to be elite, why aren't the Imperial Army the easier mooks in any of these games and books?
I really liked this video it was very well made and It gave me more imperial knowledge but one I wish you put in this one was the force unleashed jump troopers because they look really cool
The ISB stormtroopers were replaced with the death troopers in the new canon. Death troopers are supposed to be the exclusive stormtrooper unit of the ISB. But we see how that ideas been thrown out the window. Meanwhile the shadow troopers are basically non-canon. They will never be used again. Imperial shadow stormtroopers or shadow troopers served the Sorcerer of Rand turned Dark Jedi, Cronal, AKA Agent Blackhole, while he was head of Imperial Intelligence. Before him was Armand Isard who was the father of Cronal's successor, Ysanne Isard. Ysanne would later become de-facto Emperor. Leader of the Imperial Remnant. So he was kinda the dark Jedi filling of an Isard sandwich. It would seem there were multiple types of shadow stormtroopers, as some pre-date Cronal's position as head of Imperial Intelligence. Like the shadowtroopers and EVO shadowtroopers seen in The Force Unleashed. Whether these ones exclusively served Imperial Intelligence or not is ambiguous. In Legends, the ISB was the intelligence branch of COMPNOR, essentially the Empire's ruling political party. Imperial Intelligence was the intelligence branch of the government. Like the Abwehr and the RSHA of Nazi Germany. In canon, they have been merged into the same entity. The Imperial Navy also had it's own intelligence, just known as Imperial Navy Intelligence. It was essentially like the American NCIS. They didn't have special troopers. I just wanted to mention them.
One obscure variant that's worth mentioning are the de facto Emperor's stormtrooper guards from crimson empire 2. Similar case to warlord zsinj's raptors. They looked pretty cool!
Fun fact: Crix Madine, the guy with the fake beard in Return of the Jedi, was the head of the Storm Commandos. He was selected by the Empire to create the special unit and he personally trained the first of their numbers. Kyle Katarn saved Crix from execution after being discovered as a double agent for the Rebellion.
A correction, Mas Amedda wasn't the successor in Legends, he wasn't even in a position of any power in the true timeline, you're thinking of Grand Vizier Sate Pestage, before he was overthrown by the Cabal who were in turn overthrown by Ysanne Isard until the Imperial Ruling Council seized power from her.
16:29 Mas Amedda was on the Imperial Ruling Council, but was not the Emperor's initial successor. Sate Pestage was. Mas Amedda never became head of the Imperial Remnant or any splinter faction. He was also dead by the time of "the final period of the Empire." Gillad Palleon was the last ruler of the Galactic Empire before it signed a peace treaty with the New Republic.
I think the only ones you missed were the imperial roulette troopers which are basically just red guards wearing red stormtrooper armor, the imperial sith acolytes, imperial saber guards, and Darth Krayts sith troopers
A lot of these troopers share the same responsibilities as each other. Making them quite redundant. But I think in a government system where bureaucrats are constantly trying to outperform one another, one can see how one moff might commission a variant and some other officer might commission one that's similar but supposedly better just because they like to show off who's got the biggest budget. The EVO troopers weren't necessarily "replaced" by the Hazard Troopers. For one, EVO troopers served the Galactic Empire before and during the Galactic Civil War. The Hazard Troopers only appeared in the Imperial Remnant almost 20 years after the Battle of Endor. Even if Hazard Troopers had been active during the GCW, they would've just been the result of some officer's personal posturing. Hell, even as they are they still can be. I won't dare use those damn EVO troopers! I want big meaty cyborgs with huge guns to intimidate our foes! Admiral Daala, please give me the credits to mass produce these big, sexy, me- I mean scary! Scary men! They'll scare people! That's what I meant.
As much as I love the Purge Troopers and the TK Troopers from Canon, I do prefer the amount of variety that the Stormtrooper Corps had within their ranks, like the EVO and Heavy Troopers from the Force Unleashed, and Shadow Troopers (the ones with the cortosis armor and lightsabers) from the Jedi Knight games.
Phase 2 dark troopers could be droids or used as exoskeletons by organic troopers. Same as phase 3. Though I think the original phase 2's in Mohc's arsenal were only droids. The many Phase 2 dark trooper variants did see use as exosuits. Imperial Navy Commandos are not actually stormtroopers. They are under the jurisdiction of the Imperial Navy. They are more than likely some Imperial Navy officer's attempt at outperforming the stormtrooper corps.

Legends has the best almost everything bruh 😂
