When I showed horses, we would body clip (shave) them in the winter (don’t worry they had blankets & lived in the barn) and we would mist them with rose water after clipping them to help hydrate/soothe their skin. ❤ It smells good & feels amazing.
When you think about it, avene mist is just spring water, she mentioned. Ap she gives us a way to add glycerin for better hydration . She said it's great when you are in a plane
well this one is not hurtful or damaging at long terms These are not food masks (turmeric, avocado, oat, coffe, etc) or diy moisturizers with hella essential oils
I use a homemade primer with Glycerin and Aloe vera. Best primer ever and my make up stays set for the day. Pumps my skin up a bit too. Just two tablespoons of organic vegetable aloe vera gel and half a teaspoon of the glycerin. Mix / shake well. Leave in fridge and it will last a long time.
You’d probably use it as a first step after cleansing (followed by serums, moisturiser, sunscreen etc). If you’re dry make sure to lock it in with a moisturiser though!!
I wish I could do this, but I’m very allergic to rose😩 I found out one day when I used a rose water spray that a friend of mine made for me. My skin got bright tomato red, and my tongue started to swell up. I didn’t put two and two together, until I drank some tea one day that had rose hip in it. I bet this smells beautiful though!
Looked this video up and made this mist before I went into the office this morning! It had been amazing! I didn’t have rose water, but will be ordering soon ❤
I just purchased everything on this video and I’m excited to try them! My face gets dry when I’m outdoors during fall/winter and I usually just buy an already made mist, but it’s so hard to find that perfect one for my skin and when I saw the ingredients here, I just knew this is what I needed, thank you so much!
I would put it on underneath the sunscreen as sunscreen (especially mineral) sits on top of the skin creating a physical barrier which might prevent this from getting absorbed, maybe treat it like a toner or essence in the skin care routine
Thank you. But can I use orange blossom water instead of rose water? I don't so much need the anti-inflammation, just the hydration, and I'm not keen on the scent of rose on my face.
I guess if you keep the water in the refrigerator, it will take 2 weeks or more. Love to spray the mixed water after I wash my face AM and PM and when don't have rose water I use jazmine water .
Yes the distilled water helps preserve but it will absolutely still grow mold quickly. As long as u don't use it for more than a couple of days you're probably fine
Ok… i found the same bottle of rose water as you… so i did a batch using the whole rose water bottle which is 17 oz. So… 17 oz Rose Water + 17 oz distilled water + 10 oz of glycerin. The problem is… you said on another video… theres not enough preservatives in this 44 oz solution… so it’s going to waste😢. Plus… i find this ratio of Glycerin in water too “glyceriny”😅
Wait! In regards to glycerine, in general, you shouldn’t use it without diluting?? I slather it on my face every night over my other skincare. 😩 Please tell that is a good thing to do. Also, I’m totally going to do this spray mist concoction! I love your advice.
I'm Lebanese too!! I'm very familiar with rose water from making baklava n other pastries.. but now I gotta get more for this awesome hack!! I love them mist things!! I got 3 of them.. I just put water in them n spray b4 n after I use a moisturizer with ha in it.. but now this vid gave me a new mission 😊❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
Why is 100% glycerin bad for your skin? I used 50%rose water and 50% glycerin as a toner, is this bad ? Also can you put glycerin on the scalp if you have seborrheic dermatitis?
Yes:) it’s excellent for dry skin with rosacea. I have extremely dry skin and rosacea and use this every day multiple times throughout the day and it helps immensely! Just spray it whenever you feel like it. I keep one in my bathroom, one on my nightstand, one in my purse, kitchen etc. so I have them available wherever I am. I’ve noticed a big difference in how hydrated my skin is staying throughout the day since implementing this into my daily routine. I also use this when applying my skincare- I’ll spray it on during the toner/essence stage and in between each serum I put on. It’s made a massive difference:)
She said 100% glycerin is bad, not that glycerin itself is bad. That's why she uses 25% in the mixture, where 75% is the distilled water plus rose water.
Buying the mister now! Also Dr Sheerne - please please please is retinaldehyde better that retinol since it’s one one step away from retinoic acid? Like - William is closer to king tretinol than George (retinol) is?
Do you guys breathe while using the mister? I, for some reason, don’t feel safe to bring glicerine into my lungs. I don’t know if it’s a good or a bad idea. What do you know/think?
Ahhh!!! I just bought that same water! I've been using it straight up tho patting it on my skin after washing my face, but before moisturizing. Is that ok? So far, so good!
Dr Idriss told in a short before that you shouldn’t wash your face twice a day, so I use rose water in the morning because after a busy day outside you really should clean your face thoroughly. Rose water is soft enough to use so close to your eyes and of course you could use it at the end of the day but not as only a cleanser, just instead of tonic.
Hey! I love this idea and I’m going to try it. I had a question about using a mist like this that has only humectants in it during the day- is the fact that I wouldn’t be applying a moisturizer or anything on top to lock it in going to actually dehydrate my skin (because of what I understand about how humectants pull the water)? Thanks so much!
PSA for people that can’t do rose water. There are other floral waters like chamomile and lavender. As well as citrus & herbal waters like grapefruit & peppermint. I assume you can substitute rose water for any other floral water that’s advertised as safe for your face. I would do a test patch tho to make sure your skin can handle it tho before spritzing your face. And stick to the ratios listed in Shereene’s recipe with mixing the floral and distilled water with glycerin. Also note if you’re allergic to something when you eat it ie mint don’t use peppermint water because your skin will have an allergic reaction when it’s applied topically. Disclaimer- I’m not a dermatologist/ medical professional. Please do your own research.
I'm allergic to chocolate (I can't eat it), but my skin ADORES cocoa butter. My skin and hair absolutely HATE coconut oil (it breaks my hair off, it makes me lose my hair in chunks, and it inflames my skin), but I can eat it without any issues. These are only two examples, but I have a lot of food allergies and a few contact allergies, and the two examples above are true for almost all of them! Please stop spreading disinformation.
A tip for you guys you spray this on your face after doing makeup and it makes it stay for longer also prevents it from getting caky
When I showed horses, we would body clip (shave) them in the winter (don’t worry they had blankets & lived in the barn) and we would mist them with rose water after clipping them to help hydrate/soothe their skin. ❤ It smells good & feels amazing.
Wow u are the only derma who gives diy ideas. All other dermatologist are against all diy
Check out “Lab Muffin Beauty Science” She’s a Dr, a PhD Chemist who will occasionally give us DIY tips too!
When you think about it, avene mist is just spring water, she mentioned. Ap she gives us a way to add glycerin for better hydration . She said it's great when you are in a plane
Because you can't preserve this. This mist is okay for a day or two but you will have to make it fresh again and again
well this one is not hurtful or damaging at long terms
These are not food masks (turmeric, avocado, oat, coffe, etc) or diy moisturizers with hella essential oils
oh my god i didn't realize you were from lebanon!! i am of lebanese descent too and all my aunties and grannies love rose water lol now i see why
Followed the breadcrumbs from your most recent glycerin short, and this is the DIY to end them all. I'm very excited to try this.
My great grandmother was from Italy and she always washed her face in water with rose petals. I heard her skin was always beautiful.
nah,it's genetic
Nah! She's from Italy.
I love that this is affordable and perfect for excema prone skin!!! You are doing it right!
Dollar Tree has those misters 😊 $1.25! I’m totally making this for mine! Thanks Doc
Oooooh I have to take a look see at DT next time I’m there
Really??? I was going to order one from Amazon, but I'm totally checking DT now! Thank you so much! 😊💋
I'm from nepal and all I can find here are humidifiers. 😢
Thanks for saving me a metric ton if toner! Love your work Dr Idriss. ❤
I’ve been doing this for few years minus the glycerine. Thank you for the recipe. ❤🇱🇧
I love thus woman! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!!!❤
I use a homemade primer with Glycerin and Aloe vera. Best primer ever and my make up stays set for the day. Pumps my skin up a bit too.
Just two tablespoons of organic vegetable aloe vera gel and half a teaspoon of the glycerin.
Mix / shake well. Leave in fridge and it will last a long time.
Oh, I have mature, oily in the T- zone area skin.
I find this primer keeps my skin hydrated and stops too much oil coming through in my oily areas.
You can add some vitamin E to act as a preservative and for added benefits to the skin !
Will definitely try this
Glad to know you approve of this, I've been making this mixture for years, affordable and effective.
i have no clue where to get distilled water... any tips?
At the pharmacy sometimes at grocery store. Just ask a clerk@@Lincorn1
@Lincorn1 you can usually get a gallon of it at a grocery store. Think milk jug but water.
@@Lincorn1any supermarket sells distilled water
Cortas rose water is the absolute BEST and REAL rose hydrosol!
Thank you Dr. Shereene Idriss, I love your videos! Do you do this in the middle of the day or in which part of your skincare routine?
Mist can be used anytime when you feel your skin feels dry
You’d probably use it as a first step after cleansing (followed by serums, moisturiser, sunscreen etc). If you’re dry make sure to lock it in with a moisturiser though!!
I’ve been doing this without rose water for a while. So moisturizing and refreshing since I live in the desert 🌵
Hi! How long do you keep your spray for? Do you change it everyday?
I live in AZ
Where its been over 112
How often do you use this ?
Love this woman and her tips ❤
That’s amazing, thank you.
I also added some highlighter and it’s great !
Using the frother is genius. Mixes better
Definitely want to give this a go! Thank you Dr Idriss! 💕✨
How long does this last at room temperature?
I wish I could do this, but I’m very allergic to rose😩 I found out one day when I used a rose water spray that a friend of mine made for me. My skin got bright tomato red, and my tongue started to swell up. I didn’t put two and two together, until I drank some tea one day that had rose hip in it. I bet this smells beautiful though!
You can omit the rose water and still will be hydrating
Use double ammount of distilled water and forget about rose water 😊
Use lavender water or just plain water.
How about orange blossom or jasmine water?
She has another video with aloe water instead of rose water
Our elders in Pakistan would do this to! Mix rose water and glycerin and put it on the skin
Looked this video up and made this mist before I went into the office this morning! It had been amazing! I didn’t have rose water, but will be ordering soon ❤
Does anyone have a link for the mister . I bought one online and it lasted 2 weeks before it stopped working . Thank you for any suggestions 🙏🏼😊.
How did it end up working for you?
So cool! :D And stupid question...... it does not wash away the sunscreen right? probaaably not hehe?
I would put it on underneath the sunscreen as sunscreen (especially mineral) sits on top of the skin creating a physical barrier which might prevent this from getting absorbed, maybe treat it like a toner or essence in the skin care routine
Glycerin is the best hydrating ingredient. I don’t mind others but it’s the best
She has very perfect skin. How lucky she is.
Thank you. But can I use orange blossom water instead of rose water? I don't so much need the anti-inflammation, just the hydration, and I'm not keen on the scent of rose on my face.
Interesting
Most excellent Doc. I am going to make this.
How long can we keep the mixture?
I've kept mine for months without issues.
She recommends no longer than a day due to no preservatives. I think you could get away with a few days but I wouldn’t keep it longer than a week
a day... ?@@rhileynnna
I guess if you keep the water in the refrigerator, it will take 2 weeks or more. Love to spray the mixed water after I wash my face AM and PM and when don't have rose water I use jazmine water .
Thank you! I wanted to do this, but I was going to use regular bottled water. I guess distilled water is better?
Distilled water so that it doesn’t grow mold in the mister! The sugars in the glycerin would mold with non-distilled water
Yes the distilled water helps preserve but it will absolutely still grow mold quickly. As long as u don't use it for more than a couple of days you're probably fine
What if I refrigerate it
@@moxylady007 That would probably feel really good!
@@moxylady007You should probably make a new batch every other day. Or maybe even make this as a mask for the weekends.
I abso get contact derm w anything Rose. Any other suggestions? Rose is potent. Nourishing for some; caustic for others.
Yes, I’m very allergic to anything rose, unfortunately 😕
Can we just use rose water instead of adding distilled water?
Yep
@pillowtalkderm is rose water safe for super sensitive skin w/ rosacea? If not, what would be a good sub?
Where do you buy bottles of rose water? I’ve never noticed it in the store…
Would love to see a comparison if rose water vs rice water.
Ok… i found the same bottle of rose water as you… so i did a batch using the whole rose water bottle which is 17 oz. So… 17 oz Rose Water + 17 oz distilled water + 10 oz of glycerin.

Fabulous 😍 what is the shelf life? Should we keep in the fridge? Thanks! 🙏
The way you sprayed on us at the end😂❤
But if you dont put a moisturizer afterwards to lock it in, wouldn't that make your skin lose water more and get more dehydrated?
That’s what the glycerin is for.
@@jessicaf8917you took the words right out of my mouth lol
I apply this glycerin spray all over my face after moisturizer.
@@Mhkkvvyldo I put the glycerin before or after moisturizer?
Thank you for this tips! 👍
I do this with rooibos and green tea instead of the rosewater

Genuine question- why the rose water? Is it just for the smell or is there some hydrating properties too? 😊
It's anti inflammatory

Would aloe vera juice be an ok substitute for the rose water? I have allergies and can't tolerate the scent. 😢
That sounds like a good idea! As long as you water it down I’m sure it’s be fine.
You could use regular water , you don’t need the rose water.
Yes, she has another video with aloe vera juice instead of rose water.

Can we use the mist over our make up?
Yes definitely. I use rose water spray every single day whenever my skin starts feeling dry.

Oooh no wonder you’re so pretty your Lebanese. Peso Pluma, Salma Hayek, and Shakira are all half Lebanese. 🥰🥰
Will this harbor bacteria though? How long is it good for?
It should be fine with distilled products.
Can you teach us how to use those bottled salicylic acid from pharmacies?
I can only find ‘glycerol’ (85% glycerol and 15% water) where where I live, is it the same?
Can you use hyaluronic acid instead of glycerine if you're prone to fungal acne?
In nothern Africa, we use something named louban dakhar, it gives great results
Can you substitute anything for ROSE water. ? I don’t like the smell ? Or just use more distilled water ?

Hi can i use it before going out in sun because i heard that glycerin can make your skin dark if you apply it before going in sunlight. Kindly reply.
Thank you for posting this! Where do i buy rosewater from??
What else can be added to help shrink pores and reduce redness in the face?
