I went to high school with him. He was a good friend. Mission high in San Francisco. I can't say for sure he was in a gang but he was from Filmore and I seen him fight before. In high school I thought he was in the gangs. When I ran into him after graduation he spoke about being shot in a way like he was scared and it really changed him and I wanted to be like too weren't you "with the shiz" (we used to say "with the ish" to refer to being gang affiliated) but San Francisco is so small especially growing up in housing projects even if you aren't literally in a gang you kind of are by default. His stutter wasn't bad at all I didn't even notice. He was very fashionable.
In regards to his disappearance his family tried really hard but the sheriff's did not seem to do much.
My theories would be it's the girlfriend, or something to do with drugs like a weed grow op and my boy ran off and the growers got him (like the girlfriend knew the growers), or he straight got kidnapped.
      I miss him.
There is an indian reservation there that the sheriff's couldn't search.
I hope he is there. That is another theory.

Mount Shasta has a very long history of ludicrous beliefs and odd disappearances. Countless people have vanished around the mountain over the years. It seems like the couple were taking hallucinogenic substances, which might account for their weird behavior. Hallucinogens often cause people to wander and explore areas, plus they have a disorienting and stimulant effect. The girlfriend may be involved in some way, in spite of her having being gripped by lunacy. She may have brought him to the mountain for a "vision quest" of some sort, or he may have wandered out there on his own, which would make perishing in the wilderness a possibility. He also might be a reptilian, who went "home" to the mountain.

Davohnte's girlfriend went to the police to report him missing _on the following day._ An official police report filing wasn't made until the _the day after that, on the advice of Davohnte's own family._ This is also typical of police who often tell people they "can't file the report until 48 hours after the person goes missing" which is incorrect. You can file a report the moment someone goes missing but police say otherwise because most people return within 2 days.
So the notion that the delayed missing person's report filing casts suspicion on the girlfriend is entirely untrue. She reported it to the police the very next morning.

All of this. I also saw on another video about this case, that the girlfriend contacted the family the first day of the argument, when he left and didn't come back. She told them she was sure he would return and I believe she thought that. When she called them back to say he still hadn't come back, the family told her to report him missing and she did. I don't think she would've contacted the family at all if she had something to do with it. The video also said they rented a vehicle to get to Mt. Shasta. In 2020, did most rental cars have gps trackers? I'm not even sure that's a thing but maybe. Was her phone tracked? I feel like she would've been easy to implicate or clear and that's why she hasn't ever been charged.

Thank you, doc. I hate missing person cases because they're so frustrating. But watch them anyway, sometimes, because I am convinced these type of cases are the closest aproximation to what police work is really like, in incapsulated or concentrated form.
Give me cases that are neatly wrapped up with a pretty little bow in 60 minutes or less, anytime.
That aside, I found your presentation well done, as usual. In part, because of the CTV footage. I have found cases in which video, or a series of them, are the key to cracking a case, are a new favorite of mine. Because they are so visual. Making them quite engrossing, and involving. They almost make me feel like I am a dectective too, while watching the real life ones GET THIER MAN!
This heartbreaking case, of course, has no real ending, so far.
I for one, am convinced "Davohnte's Girlfriend" does indeed know something more.
I hope his family receives closure one day soon, and may poor Davohnte rest in peace.

I hope he’s found. I suspect #1 too - that wilderness is VAST & unforgiving - there are weirdos about for sure - but also a lot of wildlife & physical danger - just 2 min out of town. I wonder if her odd behavior was about hallucinatory drugs - pretty common there,… ayahuasca, for example? Why did she want to go again?

I believe that Mt. Shasta is 6 instead of 5 hours from SF. Until they reached I-5 and headed north, traffic is bad and slow. Maybe that's not much difference, because both 5 and 6 hours are a very long trip for just an overnight. Perhaps they had a specific reason for going there, rather than sightseeing, and this reason is related to his disappearance. Perhaps I misunderstood, but it seemed that he didn't know the name of his motel. If so, that is quite disoriented. It is peculiar, he seemed pretty relaxed walking around, and Mt. Shasta is a bit on the hippy side, not really weirdly racist. Were the flip flops the only shoe he packed? If not, they're an odd choice for a long trek. I think there are some missing facts, and they might make his disappearance make more sense.

Let’s take a second to think about a few things:
    1. Why did they travel 5 hours to Mt. Shasta to sleep at a motel for one day? Does that make sense? When you search Mt. Shasta, 99% of the results are regarding the mountain itself. The “town” is really just small shops for the tourists who are visiting the mountain. Why were they in town if they weren’t climbing the mountain? Surely they could’ve found a motel closer than 5 hours away. Unless there was another secret reason she brought him there
    2. Her hidden identity is the root of all the confusion. All that’s known is she was into new age spirituality. Has she been to Mt. Shasta before? Did she know anyone in Mt. Shasta on the day that they were there? I think she did
    3. Is it a mere coincidence she traveled 5 hours to sleep at a cheap motel for one night, only to break up with him on that same night? And that she would later lie about the last time she spoke to him, and then wait days to report him missing?
    4. His wandering for hours, looking disoriented and asking for wrong directions are signs that he was not just walking to cool off after a fight. He was clearly in an altered state of mind, whether via drugs or some other means. Again, the woman’s lifestyle and history would provide context as to what activities they were partaking in while there, and what led him to be in this disoriented state
It is clear that this is a case of premeditated murder. She set him up to be murdered in Mt. Shasta. The details are not there because her identity is hidden. No information about her associates, history or lifestyle is available to draw connections to his disappearance and that’s deliberate on her behalf
