  • So some of you RUclipsrs - those who've been subscribed to my channel for at least two years now - may be well aware of my admiration for the criminally underrated power pop music of Stories. I had their album About Us for a while on here when nobody else had the entire thing uploaded, until Sony Music decided to block the video worldwide (a shame)...
While I was on a trip to Michigan with my dad, after having tried to seek out a vinyl copy of the band's utterly gorgeous debut album for so long, I got so damn happy to have finally located one at a reasonable price at UHF Music in Royal Oak.
Little did I know that the passing of Michael Brown - keyboardist/principal songwriter - and key driving force behind the melodic pop-rock magic of Stories - would come just a few days later, and to be frank, his departure makes the more delicate songs on this album even more tear-jerking....sad to know this, because the music of Stories has played a very important role in the development and expansion of my musical tastes for the past few years.
Here's a little tribute to the wonderful and talented Brown, with what I think is one of the most beautifully-composed things he's ever done in his career - may he rest in peace.

    *PRECIOUS METALS*
Vinyl is all about physics. If you got tarnished wire, your music can’t travel from stylus to speakers without signal loss! I am fascinated with the properties of different metals, precious metals in particular. Gold & silver are beautiful, they store value, and they have wide industrial uses.
I put some holdings in gold and silver to protect my money. Why? Historical stability. They’re best for savings. This monthly savings plan makes it easy to add time-tested money to your Vinyl War Chest.

Serendipity! I agree, they are so underappreciated. "Brother Louie" was my dad's childhood jam and it took him decades to identify. When he did, it led me down a whole rabbit hole of discovering the rest of Stories' mercilessly small discography...don't regret it one bit. Love these guys.

This is great, i did not know this song or this group before this moment. I really liked this and plan on hearing it many more times. Very catchy and calming, i really dig when there isca strong piano in a rock song. I like when people mix it up with different instruments, thats why jethro tull is one of my favorites ever. A madman flutist killing it in a rock band, so cool. Thanks for introducing me ti more cool stuff I've found alot of cool stuff through you. Appreciate that alot, great upload

Here is my interpretation of lyrics (Ian Lloyd I assume). Ian is still performing, lives around NYC area and plays also with his son who has a band too. Songs such as this one are really hard to learn and perform, a few of these I really feel are great.
You don't seem the same way now, like you did before.
And you don't smile the same way now, has someone locked the door?
But High and Low, High and Low, I'm trying to get through to you.
The other side has such a lovely view, you know that I have nothing to show you.
What you bury long ago it's hard to savor now.
You dug your grave so deep and cold you've got to lie alone.
But High and Low, High and Low, I'm trying to get through to you.
The other side has such a lovely view, you know that I have nothing to show you.
There's a reason you left me here cold,
There's a reason you left me here left me here all alone, oh god I know...
