Can You Put Waterslides and Stickles into a Silicone Mold Before You Pour in Resin? Let's Try!

  • This idea came from a ‪@ClairesCraftyCorner‬ video I saw awhile back (link here: • Resin Trays: Using Tat... ) in which she put temporary tattoos and stickles (glitter glue) into a few silicone molds before pouring resin, to see what would happen. Then I did a video trying that (my video here: • New Tray/Dish Molds: C... ). And now I want to try the same idea but with waterslides instead of tattoos. Because with Waterslide Decal Paper, you could put pretty much ANY image you want into a mold before pouring the resin. And Stickles are just plain fun! The silicone mold gods were not laughing at me today!

    I love Swirls! Mostly swirls of color, but really any swirls at all - I think they add a beauty and grace to everything. So after I started making soap a few years ago, and needing some sort of biz name that didn't sound like everyone else's version of suds-r-us, I decided on Luxinda Swirl. Luxinda is a twist on my real name, and I quickly started putting swirls of color in all of my handmade soaps.
    Now I'm branching out a bit, and I want to keep adding swirls to everything I do!

    Plasti dip makes all the difference. You can move it without tearing.

      Oh, it’s a lifesaver for me!! I tend to be so rough with my waterslides, especially full-wrap ones on tumblers, and Plastidip really does make all the difference.

      Thanks! Yes, it seems like the graphic from a waterslide or a tattoo would stay in the mold, but it's pretty amazing what resin will pick up and hold onto!

    adorable tray!! sometime I put a bit of water under the area with a cotton swab before adding my waterslide and it gives it just enough lubricant to move around ... not sure if that would help with that type of mold but this is so cute so I definitely have to try!! great video thank you for sharing thus awesome idea!!!❤

    Do the edges of the water slide show if you don’t cover them with something?

    • @Luxinda
      @Luxinda  2 года назад +1

      Not usually, but it is possible, and I don’t know of a sure-fire way to always prevent it. That’s why it’s advisable to trim the edges as close as possible to the graphic itself, which helps hide any potential telltale edge from showing.

    Cute! Could you use a clear gross or semi gloss spray to finish?
    Oh, and I tried your Tack-it method for glitter. Omgosh it works so well!!

    • @Luxinda
      @Luxinda  2 года назад +1

      Thanks!! Yes, you definitely could use a spray varnish to finish the tray, probably 2 or 3 coats just to add some protection. I’m glad tack-it worked well!!
