    Do I still recommend this head unit? 100% yes. This is only a video showing the main issue I have with this unit. I miss this: ruclips.net/video/ma_XYLnZ8Pk/видео.htmlsi=AfJKpLt7qPLquo6F
    That being said, despite it's shortcomings, I still recommend the unit. Nothing compares to this unit in my opinion, for my applications, and for what I need out of my head unit.
    Below are affiliate links to the unit I got. If you decide the unit is for you, I'd love if you supported my channel by using the affiliate link(s) below to buy yours. The price is the same whether you use my links or not. I just get a small kickback from Amazon if you do use my links below & that helps support my channel. Cheers
    2023 newest joying Android 12 version links below:
    13.3" screen (as seen in my video) single din amzn.to/44nGWjg
    13.3" screen (as seen in my video) double din amzn.to/3sn6Oia
    15.1" screen (if you have the room) single din amzn.to/3QPJR1l
    15.1" screen double din amzn.to/3E5hoNg
    11.6" screen double din amzn.to/3P7HKo8
    11.6" screen single din amzn.to/3smBvnx
    10.1" screen double din amzn.to/47K6WIQ
    10.1" screen single din w/ knob amzn.to/3QQkOv8
    MEASURE to make sure the screen won't block any buttons or air vents on your dash. I recommend getting the single din as that will allow you much more flexibility on how high or low you can install the screen.
    New Joying AR cameras that double as dashcams / recording cams (only w/ new 2023 Joying head unit that is) amzn.to/3OISfgl
    Here is the sony microphone I use for the head unit amzn.to/3qR99RQ
    Why they call the cameras AR cameras... I have no idea. There is no "augmented reality" happening but I do admit they look really good and it's nice that they recording video as well (like the tesla cameras do)

      Me too,I bought 11.6 inch version. I wanted the 15-inch screen, but I hesitated because I was driving and my hand would hit the switch on the right side.Will my hand keep hitting the screen while on the road or offroad? Is there anything that hinders you with the large screen? I think your old screen was 11.6 inches, this one is 15.1 inches, which size is best for you? Thanks dude

    Everything you are talking about can be tweaked. You can have it default to the rear anytime you want. The reason why it's showing the front camera as you're pulling into the garage is because of the sensors you have. I take it the sensors are picking up there's something close so it's automatically defaulting to the front. I could be wrong on this but I can let you know that everything can be tweaked in the factory settings

    I bought my 1st Joying - a 11.1" .... it was expensive and it has a few issues. It surely does not allow multiple bluetooth connections. It is not easy to get good support from Joying... maybe it is the language barrier? However the new Snapdragon chip with his 8Gb of memory seems fast enough.

    I wired up my 13.3 unit with a dash on/off switch for the rear camera to be used all the time. When the switch is off, the unit shows the rear view camera in reverse. I wired a diode in line with the wire coming from the backup lights (going to signal the joying that it is in reverse). Thus when the car is actually in reverse the signal goes through the diode and tells the head unit to turn on (~0.7V drop through the diode is negligible). Between the diode and the joying I tap a 12V line in that is connect to this switch. When the switch is on 12V is sent to the head unit thus turning on the rear view camera. The diode prevents current from flowing back to the actual backup lights and turning them on. End result is switch off for normal reverse camera operation, switch on fakes a 12V signal to the joying thus showing the rear view camera all of the time.

  • @okkine
    @okkine 5 месяцев назад +2

    I don't understand why you need the rear camera running when you're not backing up, but I do agree that it's annoying when companies constantly change things that work fine.

      reason is I removed my rear view mirror off my windshield. But even if I didn't, I often load up my cargo area to the roof and even if I had a rearview mirror I wouldn't be able to see out the back because all the cargo would be in the way of the mirror.

      @ElevatedVehicles  Год назад +4

      Yeah I can demonstrate it.
      Good idea for future video.
      I recommend getting a single den instead of the double din. The single din allows for a lot more up and down movement of the screen.
      On the back of the screen or four pins and you can change where they screw in in order to move the screen up or down. You won't be able to move the screen up or down once you click the headunit in place.
      However you can take the screen off remove the pins readjust the pins and then install the screen again while keeping the head unit in the dash.
      It'll just take about 8 minutes

      Just an FYI: Even though these Android head units now have up to 5.8v on the RCA preamp outputs, 95% of the car stereo amplifiers on the market are only designed to handle up to ~4v of RCA line level input signal. Anything higher can sometimes overload the input stage on the amplifier.
      Case in point: I had a system installed a few years ago that used the Kenwood eXcelon Reference DDX9905S double-DIN head unit that has 5v non-clipped RCA preamp outputs. In this system I was also using Alpine's 2nd Generation Type X series PDX-F6 and PDX-M12 amplfiers. Unfortunately, any RCA preamp input voltage that was higher than about 4.2v would overload the input stage on the amplifiers and they would cut out and go into "Protect" mode.
      Just sayin' that there really isn't all that much of an advantage to RCA preamp voltage outputs that are much higher than ~4v because the majority of amplifiers aren't designed for it, unless you switch them to "High Level" input (speaker level) which are typically much higher at 8v-10v +, and don't optimize the S/N for the system when using RCA line level into the amps.
      I will check the "Fordsixhoe" videos to see if that 5.8v output is "clean" output with no clipping distortion, unless you have already confirmed this with an Oscilloscope?
      Cheers

  • @Pro1er

    Is there not n A/V aux input? You could hook up a second camera for the back. I don't know if it would be bright enough with the top off but I have mirror dashcams in three of my cars which is basically a continuous front and/or rear camera view plus video recorder. If need be you can turn off the power and use it as a regular mirror.

    • @ElevatedVehicles
      @ElevatedVehicles  Год назад +1

      Yes that's true. There is aux video in. Only problem is I can't hear my music if I switch to that source sadly.
      Which sucks 😔
      This was the workaround on the 2021 Joying head unit but this new head unit doesn't let the music through.

    You mentioned something very important to me! The screen brightness! The night time resolution is too bright! I have night time at 0 (zero) and daytime at 5%.
    Daytime bright at 100% wouldn't really bother me cause, hey it's pretty bright during daytime hours anyway! (I'll go into that in just a moment).
    What I've found is that the white is just too bright! Even with the opacity setting to as extreme orange as possible, the white is too bright! I use Poweramp media player. The artwork is great but i can't bare to have the app open on full screen at night!
    Now the reason I set my daytime resolution to 5% is I leave out near day break hours. When the screen goes from night mode to day mode, the frosted change in resolution is drastic.
    It would be nice to have the freedom to go from 0% (zero being off) to 100% and set the the resolutions based on my individual taste.
    Two things I hate in the morning is bright light and loud noise!
    If this could be fixed I can live with some of the other quirky things!

      Including my 45 minute long video that goes into a deep dive of the settings & sub menus

      @@ElevatedVehicles they do seem awesome. Saab Unleashed has done some great videos on them. Depending on the seller, there are a bunch of different models, so I'm definitely confused on which one to get, but the T7 is what Saab was recommending very recently.

    Chinese Head Unit always like this. No manual installation. No customer reply for solution. I purchased one Chinese unit, everything is on reply for the solution. The best, all of you can try Japanese Head Unit is the last choice, but it is expensive.

      True they are getting expensive.
      It seems Joying did fix some issues we requested.
      I made a list you can see here 🙂

      The sound processor is what separates Japanese H.U. from Chinese. Apparently, these new Joying H.U. are supposed to have Japanese sound processing chips installed in them.

    what? just switch out the plugs in the back of the radio, front for back.

    • @ElevatedVehicles
      @ElevatedVehicles  8 месяцев назад +1

      True. That could be done easily but I wish it was software compliant so we could define what we want the AR camera to default to.
      Lastly, if I put front camera on rear line when I go to reverse the front camera would show. Again, because the sofware is made to look at the "rear camera" line.
      I've played with it and unfortunately it need to be on the software side of things.
