    You are going to love it in your car. I have two cars, each have a single DIN Joying (a 2022 model & a late 2023 model) feeding a JL Audio VX1000/5i reference grade amplifier fed direct via optical TOSLink cable. The JL Audio VXi amplifier's on board DSP paired with these is an absolute dream come true! The only combo I have ever had where there is not a single pop, hiss, buzz, noise etc. Only combo I have ever had where the system is dead silent with the volume all the way down, you literally will think the deck is off... I cant praise the two Joying units I have enough... The ONLY, and I mean ONLY complaint I have about Joying is that they have the Bluetooth subsystem locked down and you cant just pair anything with it like you can any android tablet. It's not really a huge problem but it does require that I have a laptop handy or my Android phone if ever I want to tweak the JL Audio Amplifier's DSP settings since the JL Audio Bluetooth adapter will not pair to the Joying deck, so the JL Audio Tun Mobile app cannot so far be used on the Joying head unit, which while inconvenient as that is where it really makes most sense to run it from. I unlike many others still believe in having physical media in my hand and still purchase Audio CD's and rip my CD audio and (thanks to the huge joying screen) now my BluRay movie collection ripped to lossless audio and MKV files that live on a 256GB SD card installed in the deck's sd card slot.

    Good to see it actually tested. I've got the Joying with optical out to a Helix M Four DSP (so there is no signal conversion up to speaker output) and the sound quality is phenomenal using Apple Music on lossless settings. Crystal clear, noiseless, and loud if it needs to be. I do have the head units EQ flat and no bass boost.
    Edit: so it's confirmed that digital output has more than stereo channels, so the "DTS" feature should work via optical? In my Helix I only have two L and R channels via optical.
    Edit2: subjectively the head unit does sound like it boosts the highs, will definitely update my high frequency rolloff

      I have the previous version Joying head unit and the digital out does carry a volume signal as well as the two audio channels. When used with a compatible dsp, it allows you to control the volume from the head unit. Sorry I can't answer your other questions.
      I was considering the M Four DSP as well. I'm glad you like it. Do you know if that has the option for differential rear fill?

      JL Audio VXi Series amplifiers with optical in\thru onboard DSP in each amplifier and if you want to go crazy with a multi VXi amplifier install add a VXi Hub that has one optical in and 5 optical outs. I have two vehicles with Joying head units feeding Optical in to JL Audio VXi DSP amplifier's. Never ever been happier! What you save on the Joying HU price you can put toward a VXi and come out even.... VXi's are pretty pricey but I have to say when I installed my first one I had not even tweaked the VXi's onboard DSP yet and I drove around with everything flat default settings (except turning on the otical jack in the amp) and was blown away even before I tweaked the JL Tun Mobile DSP sound settings. I was actually gitty when I finished tuning the system and forgot all about the cost of the VXi's. So much so I bought a second Joying and VXi pair for my second car. I will NEVER go back to line level!!!!

Something like the wiim is under 160 and is a killer deal in that space. Id love to see one of those with a full dsp function which i think their new ultra might.... best part is they run off a regulated 12v supply so it shoukd only need a small dc to dc converter fkr car use. Ill find out soon enuf. But I've found a decent usb-c dongle dac alone even straight into analog with a tablet can pretty much replace the headunit entirely. With more functionality of the tablet as well. And alot of us are using our phone already anyway or have old tablets lying around that might not be fast for much but absolutely will play music. The DAC takes that processing off the phones chip.

There’s a lot of us using that combination and I’m wondering just how clean it is. I know the SMSL is very clean but I have no clue how clean the iPhone through the camera kit is.
    Also I’ve been wanting to ask you, when you tune a system do you let REW do most of the eq work? If so what smoothing resolution do you use? Or do you do all of it manually?

    I am seeking a solution where the car speaker initially runs from the factory output signal, but switches to the amplifier output once the car engine starts. This setup aims to conserve the car battery by preventing it from draining power when the car engine is not running, while still allowing me to enjoy music from the factory radio, as it consumes less power.

    • @RAW-CAt
      @RAW-CAt  3 месяца назад +1

      Class D amps barely consume any power at idle, so you won't save much that way. Better install a second battery and don't think about saving😉

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 3 месяца назад +1

      When listening at low volume levels you're barely using any watts of power at all. The main draw from the battery is just going to be the amplifiers idling current draw. So idle current might be a specification you want to pay attention to. I don't know of any way to do what you're asking.

      Yep, good advice.
      You don't seem like a bass head that's going to run massive subs and amps. If you can afford 4 gauge copper, then go with that. It's a bit overkill, but it allows you to do amp upgrades later on. The hardest part is running the power gauge properly front to rear. You could run an 8 gauge now, but if you wanted to upgrade later you'd have to do all the extra labor of removing the 8 gauge and replacing it with a 4 gauge. That's such a pain in the rear. Better to do it right the first time. 👍

    • @RAW-CAt

      Yes, you can start with A budget DSP/amps from china, such as Sennoupu or Nakamichi. These cost about 150usd and will have all the functionality that you might need. Yes they will not be the cleanest and won't have very high voltage via RCAs, but if you want to learn tuning, those are great. As well get a mic, such as Umik-1 or Dayton iMM-6.

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 3 месяца назад

      An option that might work for you is the Kicker Key amplifier. It's a 50w per channel times 4 amplifier with auto-tuning. A lot of people like it because it's easy to use and does a great job of tuning automatically. The only down side is you have very little ability to make tweaks afterwords.
      If you want to learn how to do tuning, etc... then the more conventional DSP amplifiers mentioned above is probably the best choice.

      You want to base your buying decision of a head unit on what your needs are and what works best for you. For people that want to use a digital signal into their dsp, none of those typical brands are even an option.
