    Thank you so much! I had inconsistent temps and was going to try disconnecting the thermistor; when attempting this, I removed one of the orange connectors. I accidently touched the light with it -- the light flickered for a split second. Then no more power to the display or to fridge. I threw my hands up in the air, saying I probably need a new fridge, and since I'm selling soon, I'm just not going to replace it. I ordered a mini fridge from Home Depot. After a few days, I calmed down and did online research. Your video was the most helpful to me in accessing the control board -- how to remove cover, etc. I was hoping and praying that the 5amp fuse would be blown. Hooray! It was. I replaced it, and all is good. I still may have issues with thermistor, but replacing it will be cheap and easy. For now, fridge is fine. I also learned how to do the diagnostics on the display panel. That way I can monitor what temp the control board is getting from the thermistor and compare it to the food compartment thermometer. They should be about 10 degrees apart. Returned mini fridge to Home Depot :) Thank you, again, for this really great, helpful video!

    Thank you so much for this video! I am a woman with a 5th wheel and when my same model fridge suddenly had no power, I wasn't sure what to do. I used your video as a visual reference and determined it was a simple solution of replacing the little brown "5" fuse. Thanks for your help! You saved me calling an RV Tech and probably a few hundred dollars for a simple fix!

    Maybe not a big thing for you but for me, just seeing the 12vdc leads attached to the board, still color coded, is going to help so much!

    Thank you for this video. Ready to learn how to test optical control board. My Norcold 1200 LRIM has stopped working and I have checked everything up to this point.

    When are you going to post a video for checking the Optical Control unit on the fridge?

    Thanks for the great instructional video. I have the same issue and your diagnostic help has allow me to follow the power source all the way to the display board but that is where I am stuck. How do you check for connectivity on the wires from the Control board to the Display board?

      Great question! The key is find how far along the circuit the power has traveled including - is it making it through the cabling. It’s been a while since I’ve looked at this but Im pretty sure it’s a continuity test that is in the manual that I didn’t do in the video because I felt like I was beating up the electronics pretty good on this equipment so I didn’t demonstrate. It’s in the flow chart in the service manual and the video hopefully develops confidence with this equipment to propel you forward for further independent discovery.

      I’m going to have to complete the diagnostics on the optical cb. A lot of requests. I would recommend the service manual. With the instructional help on this video, the steps in service manual should be easier to follow.

      Great question! I’d go to the optical control board and test and see if you get twelve volts.

    Thank you so much for your videos. God Bless! I could not find the video for testing the optical control board? But I'm assuming if the other two tests for the main control board we're good then it must be the optical control board?

    Thank you for this video. The display on my Norcold 3150 just went out. I will look at the power board tomorrow. Have you posted the video for checking the display board? If not, do you have any suggestions or know of other videos for this?

      You’re going to want to check for 12 VDC at the optical control board. If you have power there, this will give you first confirmation the wiring harness (cable) from power control to optical control is checking out to be in good shape. There’s a continuity test that I’ll have to demonstrate to confirm harness is good, but from there it’s a check on optical control. I’d want to see 12VDC passing through the board from positive to negative on the board. If not that’s needing replacement, likely.

    Hey did u do the display testing. I have a short at the fuse. Will ur test work without a working fuse.

      The cable harness where I’ve checked for 12 volts will show 0 volts if the fuse is blown and needs replacement. That fuse needs replacement.

      the display will not have power if the 12 volt fuse is blown.

    What are the two big red connectors on the board?

    • @youcandoitrv4198
      @youcandoitrv4198  Год назад +1

      The two big red connectors are 120 Volt Heaters with black and yellow leads. Refer to service manual for drawings. Be sure of your understanding for safety sake. Call a technician if necessary.

    No reason to take out fuse. Check voltage on each test point or use ohm check on test points.
