- Before there was Disney On Ice there was Disney On Parade. This traveling show, which ran from 1969 to the mid-1970s, took scores of the characters Walt Disney created and literally made them "come to life" right in your home town. As Walt Disney once said, "We're interested in doing things that are fun...in bringing pleasure and especially laughter to people." It was in this spirit - in this great tradition - that Disney On Parade was created. In this rarely seen video brought to you by DisneyAvenue.com, you will travel back to New York's Madison Square Garden circa 1970s and learn what it was like to be the cast of Disney On Parade.
The video begins at a press event with Disney On Parade characters Snow White, Mickey Mouse, Goofy and Pluto who are joined by sculptor Machu Picchu. The sculptor Picchu has sculpted a large Mickey Mouse head out of cheese and the Disney On Parade cast use the occasion to publicize their upcoming show in New York. We then see an exterior shot of Madison Square Garden and see a special pre-show appearance as children get to meet with some of the characters. We then see some clips of the actual Disney On Parade performance. This is a wonderful look at what Disney on Parade was and how it brought the magic of Disney straight to your front door. Enjoy!

It's interesting how different Disney is now. I imagine nowadays the friend of Snow would have to do the voice.

Artica Kennedy Plays the role of Snow White in the Disney on Parade show from 1971-1973. She was also the spokesperson for this show when they gave the young people a preview of this show. This version of her dress looks very similar to the one that was used in the disney parks. She was very pretty and has a pretty smile and seems so nice.

The Disney characters costumes back then looked so creepy, except for Snow White's, I like this version of her dress. Also the lady playing her is very pretty & has a very pretty smile & seems so nice. Hate whoever that annoying guy is who keeps yelling at her from the background.

Friday, July 30, 1971 at NY's famous restaurant Sardi's.
So this was filmed just a few months before Disney World's Grand Opening in October.

Artica Kennedy Seems like back then they had to perform double or triple duty, not only be the character but also the spokeperson, and even the MC of their presentations. As far as I remember their main skill why they were hired was their ability as ballet dancers, and they were not supposed to talk, but lipsync. In spite of this, the first Snow White, for example, she even understands spanish!
