yeah back in the 60-early 80s. Pooh bear only have small arms. so the guy or girl in the custom work sticks that makes pooh's noise, ears and arms around. back then alot characters were big heads and flapping arms. can move other joins in the custom. one was the Mad Hatter. he was a big head and small body character. only could move his big noise. now just a custom with movie make up on him. lol
I love stuff like this thanks to anyone who goes out to find these and upload them, I'd never have anything to entertain myself without these I absolutely adore these suits, I wish they'd keep them ;-; or maybe all except for pooh
I know quite a lot about Disney character costumes I spend most of my time lerning the tricks and what happens, so I’m happy to answer anyone’s questions about the characters or the costumes
A lot of changed I noticed the instructor said do not talk while in costume. Which is ok as most customers are not voice actors. But I did just recently see a video here on youtube that had Micky talking and his eyes and mouth were synced with his speech. I think how they did it is some sort of censor in or on the mouth and then a voice sythe programmed to Micky's voice pitch. It is just a guess but I do have experience in Mascot suit making so I do know a little about them. :)
My local theatre's special needs program is starting rehearsals for "Winnie the Pooh" in about a month, and I'm pulling for the part of Tigger. This is the video for me!
This is the complete opposite of Six Flags where the tallest you could be was 5'6. I used to work there. I was too tall to be bugs bunny but I am the perfect height for Tigger at 6'2.
I LOVE this Pooh Bear's mask! But I think Disney should redo it with mechanical articulation, as this particular Pooh costume was discontinued due to having enough room "down below" to "whack off". I think the way the Pooh body is now, combined with a head more like this would be GREAT! :D
I wonder if the specific height requirement is to make the characters more believable or the costume maybe to big for people that are around 6 feet high.
Robbie Farabee pretty sure it's so they don't have to trailer costumes to specific people. Keeps the character a uniform size for guests and makes it so they don't have to have a bajillion different sizes of each costume. It's why the princesses have to be a certain height and dress size, too. Uniformity.
It all comes down to what the characters look like it the program obviously Micky is a mouse so he’s small also if you wach you can see he’s smaller than goofy so they put that into size for real people because you know no one is gonna be like 1 foot but they also don’t want there character to big as they can scar little kids I have been many times and even meeting the characters it’s quite nerve racking
I don't know what all the fuss is about kids finding these. It's not like these are on the first one or two pages when someone searches "Disney" or "Disney Parks". It's not very likely kids will find these unless they have parents who, like us, are total Disnerds who must know everything.
"The reputations of Eeyore, Tigger and Pooh depend on YOU." HARSH!!! Like, I'm pretty sure that the employee understands that by the end of the video without it being psychologically pushed on them like that! Isn't it enough to say "stay in character and never let anyone know you're in a suit"? Did they really have to add that punch in at the end???
They do when you're representing famous characters for a multimillion dollar corporation whose image could be severely damaged if the immersion of Disneyland is broken, or worse the characters are caught acting aggresively/crude towards children.
U do realize this is a huge offense against the Walt Disney company right? Training videos, no matter how old they are, and for any Disney job is strictly meant for cast members eyes only. I should know, I'm a Cast member and our training videos are only meant for us. Children can easily come across this training video and realize there's a man or woman underneath the costume and can easily have their spirits broken for years.

This is very interesting! I finally see how they put on the old costumes!!!

It must've sucked playing Pooh on a hot summer day

There's 1 question though! How the hell does the person move it'e hands inside the Pooh costume?
They probably hired a midget for the job.
They have metal rods in the hands to move them
@@PuddsThePuncake Just like rod puppets, the arms & mouths are worked using rods.
@@TherealRNOwwfpooh I'm glad they changed all the costumes to the ones WE know and love.
Combination of rods in the arms that can be manipulated by the actor’s hands & just letting the arms flop as the actor dances, hops & skips.
I'm just a little stumped on how the cast member inside Pooh is able to see out of the Honey pot on his head.
I’m guessing there must be some sort of eye sockets somewhere in the dark hunny lettering. That’s all I can figure.
