  • The Disney secret history you didn't know existed. Feld Entertainment produces Disney on Ice, which has been bringing Mickey Mouse & the magic of Disney animation to cities around the world for over 40 years. Disney on Ice is currently touring Mickey's Search Party & Mickey & Freinds! Disney has always been a big part of pop culture but how did this Disney on Ice phenomenon come to be? Well, Disney characters in ice shows go back over 75 years beginning in the 1940s with the Ice Follies & Ice Capades, and they even appeared at Disneyland on opening day. But it wasn’t always a success. When they tried their own arena show called Disney on Parade, it was a disaster. So come and explore Disney’s Ice Age- A Frozen History to the success of Disney on Ice! DON'T FORGET TO LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE!*** ►bit.ly/2mfriBD ◄

One of the last things I got to do with my mom before she died was go to a Disney on ice show. We were a poor family so Disney on ice was one of the only ways we could experience something Disney on somewhat the same level as the parks. Disney on ice will always have a spot in my heart and memory, and once the world figures out how to work again, I hope to see another show.

@UCYUpYrgZT9iBzQcWpFbeVFQ not denying the technology improvements that would be needed, and that they'd be awesome beyond words.
It's the fact that seeing Star Wars or Avengers On Ice, for a whole show, would get a bit old rather quickly. Neither really lends itself to a full show. A stage show, maybe, but I just can't see myself watching starfighters being held my skaters for whole show. Make an evening with a Star Wars Story(Trilogy highlights, maybe, or an original) an Avengers story, and other Disney IP and I'd see it, gladly. As a whole show idea, Avengers would work more. I can see a 20-30 Star Wars segment, with skaters in costume doing a lightsaber fight(Maul, Kenobi and Jinn would be amazing), a space fight or two, and some ice dancing set to John Williams' music.

We went to Disney on Ice every year when I was very little for my birthday. It just so happened to come through town at the same time and it was an easy way for my parents to not have to think about a "big" gift. They usually fought all the way down in the car, Dad flipped out about the possibility of getting mugged and the cost of the snacks at the venue, but it was something I looked forward to until I turned 12 and my folks told me I was too old for "that shit".
When Covid is over, I fully intend to take myself to a show for my birthday :3 And it will be great. I don't care if anyone goes with me. I'll go by myself and sit in the nosebleed section.

First and only Disney On Ice I’ve ever seen was High School Musical 1 and 2. I hadn’t even seen the movies yet at the time, so there was no deep feelings of love towards the story before I saw it on ice. But even without knowing anything about the original story, I was left awe-struck. I felt that the performance on that ice was breathtaking! And it actually made me want to watch the movies! So many memories with Disney on ice, it was my first exposure to Disney in general!
This reminds me of a story my mum always told me: that a Disney on ice show was the very first show where I sat still. I was 3, a hyperactive kid who couldn’t sit still even for dinner, and who had no limits when it came to running in a park. When she bought the tickets for when they performed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, she was expecting me to run around. Sitting still and being in awe with everything apparently made here confused and surprised to the point that we watched it every year until I was about 9 or 10, when there were a few shows that went to Singapore but not Malaysia (couldn’t afford flight tickets at the time).

It's been a while since I've gone to see a Disney on Ice show, but the one I remember most was The Incredibles special where they had to stop Syndrome from causing chaos while on a trip in Disneyland.

For some reason the edit button isn't working on my end, but the show wasn't in Disneyland. The story itself did.
The show I watched in was in the Honda Center.

When I was around 11-12 I think, I went to a Disney on Ice show in the O2. Normally we wouldn’t have been able to go due to money, but we ended up winning tickets and drinks at a member only bar. It was very weird to me, but as a practicing figure skater at the time, I loved looking at the technical parts. It was quite funny because a bunch of kids were dressed up as Anna or Elsa, and they weren’t included in the show until the next year.
Also no one fell over during my showing which was great :).

I skated in the only 2 tours that ice follies and holiday on ice combined. It was a magnificent show, so elaborate and special. Sadly, the Follies as we know it, became a Disney on Ice, since then. 😢

I think the first show I went to was either the Finding Nemo show, or one of the shows that compiled abridged cuts of all the princess movies. My family and I used to go every year and they just kept getting more and more impressive with each performance. Always made a nice build up for when we’d visit the parks. I’m sure they still are, but I unfortunately missed my chance to see it this year.
As for some favorites of mine, I really liked the Toy Story 3 show since it combined elements from all the films together. I also liked the “Let’s Celebrate” show and how they managed to crossover all the characters together seamlessly. Oh and they did a High School Musical show one year. Stupid little kid me thought that was actually Zac Efron skating.🤪

I’m so impressed with those original Disney Ice Capades costumes from a technical and creative standpoint for the time, but GOD are they cursed. Especially when they’re running around in broad daylight at the park.

I saw the Dream Big show in 2007 when I was 5 and in 2018 in high school. I live in a small town so even Disney on Ice shows are hard to get to. My favorite scene on Disney On Ice is the Rapunzel scene where she soars above the stage with her hair.

Like many of us who live/grew up far away from a Disney park I have many fond memories of seeing Disney on ice shows with my family and friends and getting a taste of the Disney experience through them! The last one i went to, me and my friend even dressed up as princesses and we were 10/11 at that point. Good times that I'll never forget, especially since I live in a different state from my childhood friends and relatives now and my parents have since passed away ❤
