  • Trusty was on the road again, this time passing through Iowa and visiting one of the largest antique malls he's ever seen - The Brass Armadillo in Des Moines. With limited time to shop, Trusty shows a few specialty collections including vintage police badges and Paint by Number sets and ends the video with a short haul of some of the items he found for resale - including some "trunk down" elephants and one of the coolest pieces of maritime ephemera he has ever seen.
The Iowa Brass Armadillo doesn't seem to have a youtube channel, but there are some great videos from their sister store in Denver - DenverBrassArmadillo

Nice classic ABC wall chart for those that have decided to protect their children and do Homeschooling :)

Fun stuff! Next time you're passing through Des Moines and have some time to spare let me know. There's another great antique mall a little ways north that is huge, and I think their prices are better.

I have always wanted to visit the Brass Armadillo. It looks like an amazing place . I love the trunk down elephants. The two digit zip code guy is adorable. Great information on Abbingdon. I’ll check my decorated tumbler book for those. Amazing book from the 1900s.Great video, Patrick! 👍👍

I know there are a couple other brass armadillos. Evidently one near where I was in Nebraska and I missed it. Next time 👍. Thanks for watching

I'm drooling over those Xmas tumblers! Not sure what they are but they're amazing. I really like Abington too. I have a hard time selling it. It's very much under appreciated. The shapes are so nice - sophisticated and architectural in style (much like Haeger).

Even in Illinois (where it's from) Abingdon doesn't have a lot of recognition - it just wasn't around for very long - which is why I like it. Thanks for watching!

You were in Nebraska!?! Where? Did you happen to go to the Aardvark outside of Lincoln? It's right on I-80. Omaha has a Brass Armadillo too!

Those police badges are pretty neat. It reminded me I have a vintage census bureau badge somewhere lol but they are small and plain looking. I have two wood trunk down elephants! Are they suppose to be bad luck??? I hope not lol My favorite item is the alphabet chart!

I think they bring extra kick because they are appreciative you gave them a home 👍

Love those police badges! How much were they going for? The Abbingdon piece is very pretty.

The larger ones were around $100 but some of the simpler ones were as low as $15
