Yep, I definitely think the story needs to go with the table - it's history shouldn't be forgotten. Beautiful inlay design, glad you were able to uncover it.
Be careful to not put it in the bedroom.!look at all the layers of pink and blue! OMG IS THAT A DESIGN? It is so beautiful! I would tell the new owners. But threaten them if they paint it.!
Thank you so much for not “painting” this table! Too many times, beautiful pieces like this are stripped an/or just painted, instead of restored to their original elegance!
Share the entire story of the table with the new owners - including your part. It’s what gives life and character to the table itself. If someone decides to paint it again, that’s part of the story. Maybe in a hundred years another person will have the joy of stripping the table and finding the beautiful inlay, as you did!
It's been a busy few months since I last commented on this video. My badly repaired, broken leg, has been corrected; it's now back to it'd original length, and I'm finally learning to walk again, WITHOUT a stick, or a built up shoe! AND. throughout all of this excitement, I have popped in to watch "The Baby Maker" over and over! That moment when the inlay is first revealed, cheers me up, and convinces me that one day (soon), I'll be back to my own self, and walking with the best of you!
The table turned out beautifully. You went threw a lot of paint stripper to get it all cleaned off and it was well worth it. I agree with the others that the story should be passed on to the new owners. The fun part of the story is how it worked. My guess is that you did not put it in your bedroom while you had it. 😉😃 Thanks for sharing all the work that you do.
No, piękne. Wreszcie widzę renowację a nie popaćkane farbą meble. Gratuluję świetna robota :))) Proszę tak trzymać. To nie jest łatwe ale efekt, wart Twojej ciężkiej pracy.
Sure. Tell them the story. It's fun and harmless to pass on this kind of folklore. I absolutely LOVE how it turned out. You were so fortunate that the detail in the inlay was intact. It is absolutely stunning.
I would absolutely pass along the story, along with details on your efforts to remove all those ridiculous layers of paint. I can't imagine why anyone would even think to paint over such a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. So glad that you put in the effort to expose & restore the original details.
The beautiful top was a lovely discovery - the painting story was awesome and fun, and it's almost a shame to fall out of the family, but at least it came into such capable hands as yours and looks back to its original beauty. It surely feels much better after all these years - here I am, you can see my face again!
How anyone could ruin such a beautiful walnut table by not even a half decent paint job, I will never know. All I can say is thank heavens their are people like you dedicated to restore the beauty of such things. Thank you for both your skills & your sharing them with us.
You can tell them but maybe suggest that if they want to use it in the same way they just place blue or pink items on the table accordingly. A beautiful restoration! The inlay is amazing!
I did not think I was ever going to get down to the wood!!!! Jees!!! I kept putting more and more stipper on it and it was not till I got to the least coat that the stripper got all wrinkly like I normally see!
I follow several furniture restorers/flippers, but I find you the most educational one. Thank you for that. I am trying to learn enough to gather the courage to refinish my mid-century teak bed and night stand. It has gotten pretty rough looking over the years, and I would like to bring it back to its former glory.
Hi Saga, Start with something simple. Something you can practice on and don't mind if you mess it up. That will build up your courage. If it is teak you may just be able to strip it and put teak oil on it. Simple process. Just labor intensive!
I feel the pain.... I had picked up a small Antique kitchen table. Hand cut and wood pegs. Gate leg drop leaf for 15 dollars. It had five different layers of paint and poly on it plus a layer of stain over the original finish. Took forever to strip it all off. The legs were hardest because of all the detail. After i finally got it all cleaned off. The table was made with birds eye maple ❤. Legs, base, and top! It is in my kitchen after 6 months on and off work to get her stripped of all her ugly layers lol. She is here to stay forever. This little gem you uncover is a find as well!
I have no doubt that every time you look at that table you feel a huge sense of accomplishment and pride! That is why I like to refinish furniture! We take something ugly that is perhaps going to be discarded and give it new life. When I sell my furniture I feel like I am re-homing it and I want it to go to nice people that will appreciate it. Somehow I always find the right person!
You are very calm. I would scream if I discovered that someone had covered something that lovely with a billion coats of ugly paint! I love watching your stuff. You have great taste in stains. the furniture always looks so gorgeous when you're done with it.
Yes- this was such a bear to strip with the many many many coats of paint. I am doing one now with 4 coats of paint and had flashbacks to this table! UGH! I hate stripping paint. Stripping a finish is SO much easier.
Bravo! What perseverance you demonstrated bringing that beauty back to life. I love the story and think you should share it. Who doesn’t like a good story? 😊👍🏻❤️
I can't believe anyone could paint over that beautiful inlay. What were they thinking? It just breaks my heart. And yes, please tell the next owner the "baby-making" story. It shares the history of this lovely piece.
I think you should pass the story along. 1 of the major reasons I love old furniture is thinking about all the stories it holds throughout decades or sometimes even centuries. To me, It just makes saving or repurposing furniture become special & uniquely timeless. The top turned out to be a little hidden gem & so beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
I agree the history of this beautifully restored table needs to be told. It does not matter if you believe it or not, it simply makes the table more interesting than it already is. Good job, and kudos to you for doing all that stripping. In the end, it was worth it.
I too enjoy refinishing furniture. It can be so frustrating when I come across something unexpected but I feel such a great sense of accomplishment when I figure it out! I am currently working on a chair and had to repair 2 broken spindles. OMG! I did it!!! It looks great. Stay tuned for the video.
great video. you found the most amazing table under there. NO, I would not tell the new owners. lol... I would hate to think someone would start that tradition again.
Yep, I definitely think the story needs to go with the table - it's history shouldn't be forgotten. Beautiful inlay design, glad you were able to uncover it.
Thanks Ken- the vast majority of comments are in support of telling the story!
I also would not want to be responsible for unplanned pregnancies because they didn’t warn people about the magic table!
No please.. in case the new owner decides to paint it again 😆
Hopefully they won’t take the story seriously and cover up that beautiful inlay with paint!
Maybe they could try a blue or pink tablecloth instead ;-)
I would definitely tell the story to the new owners. The table is absolutely gorgeous, you did an awesome job
Thank you so much!
Be careful to not put it in the bedroom.!look at all the layers of pink and blue! OMG IS THAT A DESIGN? It is so beautiful! I would tell the new owners. But threaten them if they paint it.!
I would definitely tell the new owners the story! It is a unique story! I lost count on the layers if paint as well! Great job!
I guessed that it was 14 layers. Thank you!
@@FurnitureFlippingForProfit Lol. That's alot of babies!
Are you OK? Haven't had a new video in at least a year. Hoping you are OK! I miss your videos.
Yes , full disclosure. Don’t let someone own this without knowing the “risks” 😉
LOL! I agree!
😂
😂
I agree, none of the women in my family would want a surprise baby.
Oh my goodness! That's stunning underneath all that paint and a tale of a traveling baby maker, to boot😃
Love it... the tale of the traveling baby maker!
You restored this table beautifully. Of course, tell them the story. Just beseech them not to ruin your great restoration with more paint! Cheryl
Thank you, I will
Thank you so much for not “painting” this table! Too many times, beautiful pieces like this are stripped an/or just painted, instead of restored to their original elegance!
Yes, please tell the new owners the fascinating story accompanying this GORGEOUSLY RESTORED INLAYED TABLE!!! 💖💖💖💖💖
Seeing all those layers of pink and blue paint, it really gives credence to the story!
Share the entire story of the table with the new owners - including your part. It’s what gives life and character to the table itself. If someone decides to paint it again, that’s part of the story. LOL! So true!
I never understand how something so beautiful can be painted over. It has now been restored to its former glory. Thank you for sharing. 😘💕🇦🇺 my

Yeah! I am so glad you are feeling better and that my video helps in your recovery!
... I just can't imagine, how somebody would come to the idea of PAINTING this beauty ...! 😮🦊
Probably the same kind of person that dyes their hair purple.
Obviously they wanted to get pregnant.😄
For sure! That’s a charming story!!!
thanks!
Sometimes, the best part of antique furniture is the lore behind the piece. Definitely share the story!
Yes the stories are priceless and can add emotional value to the furniture.
The story is a piece of folklore and cultural history by itself that should be preserved for the future.
Great to see someone who saved it fom paint and who understands wood.
Thank you! I am glad you appreciate what I do! Thanks for watching!
Gorgeous ❤ I, yes, I think you should definitely tell the story of the table to carry on it's history for generations to come.😊
