@@JohnYakooza nah Dojima and Yu literally treat him like family. Nanako literally looked forward to the guy coming to visit because he was that close to Dojima. That’s why it’s really telling of Dojima’s character that in some way he forgave him, because Adachi really was a member of his family just like Yu and Dojima couldn’t look past that.
3:50 I absolutely love Adachi's expression here. He is embarrassed and ashamed, but somewhat happy that his bond with Dojima hasn't been broken. The original P4 may have portrayed Adachi as one sided, but this game truly made Adachi's character complete.
The original ps2 P4 hints that Adachi cares for both Ryotaro and Nanako. Before and after the battle along with sprinkling through out the game but its made more obvious in the later installments.
@@ZeroSable In Persona 4 Golden you can see that in his social link he does actually care for people shown by his attempts to cheer Nanako up and instead he's just socially awkward and doesn't know how to deal with people's genuine kindness. However, that's not for the OG game. I guess the closest thing that shows his care to the Dojima family in the OG game is that he never directly targeted them despite how harsh Ryotaro was to him. It seems like a much more sound thing to do when all of his other victims were pretty much killed out of frustration but he never even attempted to harm Ryotaro. It's also partly due to Adachi's second warning letter that Nanako got saved quickly. Without the letter the team and Dojima wouldn't have been so quick to react to her disappearance and it's even weirder to think that Adachi could've gotten away with all the murders if he simply didn't send that second letter that served as major evidence.
I feel some people miss the point of this ending. Its not about forgiveness its about Adachi taking responsibility. Remember he could easily escape and he's only in jail because he confessed.

@KyleTheB That is why Lifetime sentences never made sense to me from a practical standpoint. either there is a Chance for the criminal to atone for his sinse ,joining Society again and making up for his past mistake or the criminal cant be redeemed in which case having them in jail for centurys is just waste. same if they really turn over a new leaf, what good does it do having a someone who wants to atone and make up for the past having behind bars for the rest of their life.
@KyleTheB I mean, if you want to go by a numbers game, you can atone for murder by saving more people than you killed. Say for example you killed one person, but then saved the lives of 100 after being released from jail. Does murdering someone previously invalidate the saving of those 100 lives? It's evident in Adachi's p4arena story that he stopped people from being murdered in the TV, and while his reasoning for doing so was just to follow "society's rules," this decision ultimately did save lives and it's something the previous Adachi would never have done - so he's clearly a changed man and likely wouldn't commit murder again even if he was released. Granted, I'm not suggesting Adachi should be released anytime soon, but the goal of prisons should be rehabilitation so inmates aren't a danger to society anymore. Besides, the comparison you made is a false equivalency. Adachi certainly killed 2 people and orchestrated the potential deaths of several others, but that's a far cry from murdering hundreds of people.
@KyleTheB I think atonement is all about the attempt and less about if you can truly pay back that life you took. Adachi isn't trying to be free, in fact he's mostly trying to get the case to stick so he can be back in jail. He's literally fighting for his own sentence and to ensure the others survive, he knows he deserves the punishment. Him saving those lives doesn't invalidate what he did, that's for sure, but I think it's about facing up to consequences of your actions. You can't unkill people but there are definetely somethings you can do.
My almost no evidence hypothesis is the adachi who calls the fog isn't the same adachi, like if amino sigiri (however you spell it) is controlling adachi a little, he honestly sounds confused when you beat amino sigiri, like he doesn't know where he is

Keep in mind that while Adachi accidentally gave Namatame the idea of putting them in the TV, Adachi never targeted the people that Namatame threw in the TV. Adachi might actually be a little mad at Namatame for targeting Nanako as he lets the investigation team know where he is in the hospital. Of course, that could be Adachi trying to silence the one guy who could spill the beans, but he doesn’t really need to as Namatame didn’t know who the killer was and had no reason to suspect that Namatame would somehow lead the investigation team to the truth
@@ATOMICGOPHAH13 Adachi is the one that wrote the letter to Yu stating "if you don't stop trying to solve the mystery someone close to you will die", I think that implies that he had some knowledge that Nanako would be targeted even before it happened.
