I like that you actually have to sell stolen goods to earn respect of the thieves guild in Oblivion. In Skyrim there is really no reason to engage in petty thievery
The thieves guild in Skyrim just feels more like you're a hired thug. Especially the first real mission you get where you basically have to beat up 3 people for debts that they owe. You technically don't have to, there is another way around for all 3 of them, but the fact that that's even an option is stupid.

I know this was made a while back, but a tip I know for that lock pick game. Watch the top of the teeth as they are pushed up. If you were able to fallow it up, then click. If you cant fallow the trail of movement, then it isn't going to click in place. Makes it so much easier to do.

Fun thing: The TG doesn't care for purposes of progression if whatever you sell to the fences is actually stolen or not. Join the mages guild, raid their alchemy instruments (not stealing), sell them to Ongar and you're basically set to do the whole thing.

As a fan of Oblivion, I do say the writers were lazy with the beginning of the Thieve's Guild storyline. It was way too easy to get info on the guild. He just walks up to a beggar and the beggar spills the beans on the time and place. It should have been much more secretive. You should have had to gain people's trust before they give you any info. They don't seem to care about spies.
that's maybe how it worked for you.. but I played hours and hours and when I did a quest I had to go to the prisson so I can talk to someone who is also in jail. After that quest the Thief Guild came to me. By committing a crime and voila you got their attention

I always thought that if let's players were to ever do BGS games, they should treat each major subquest or personal adventure as an individual series. This is the way to go.
Talk to Jensine in the market and complete "unfriendly competition" then you can loot Agarmir's house without any problems. Then the "paranoia" mission in Skingrad to loot Glarthir's house. There are probably other places as well. Not to mention that the cabinets and food items replenish automatically
I usually do the collector quest first. After selling the statues to Umbacano I’ll steal them and fence them when I join the thieves guild. That will earn you more than enough gold to get through the thieves guild storyline. Stealing the draconian madstone and messenger’s diary helps also.
It never occurred to me while playing... but watching Armand's face... Now, I don't have OCD, but isn't his face really... disjointed? Like, I know Oblivion and it's notorious faces but, usually, there's symmetry in those faces. Armand looks like someone had a slider for the left half of his face, and pulled it up, while the right half stayed in place.
Just a heads up of you go to the imperial city Market Place you can steal a whole bunch of stuff. I did that and i stole about 1000 in gold and could just keep doing quests.

Do you have to be a certain level before you get the dialogue about the thieves guild and the gray fox when you talk to guards, NPCs, or beggars? Bcuz I don’t have that option in dialogue when I talk to anyone.
I swear the whole entirety of oblivion becomes useless as soon as you get an invisibility spell ahaha i did all of these and it was so easy cause i was invisible half the time
Have you thought about getting elders scrolls online there is a way to get vamprisim and its great Against werewolfs characters its quite fun too there people as a band at the citys

The gold fenced requirements were WAY too low.. they all needed to be 5x hirer MINIMUM

Just steal Varla stone from Chorrol castle, it's in a display upstairs to the left. You'll get atleast 500 gold in stolen goods.
French Taunter the varla is a son of a gun
Here's a better tip, go to Bruma Castle and go to the room behind the countess. Now steal everything on that table and sell it to Obtain for profit.
I always clean out the jewelry shop in Imperial City.
Varla stone isn't worth losing for just 500 gold, a better tip is to take 2 of the 3 akvirir katanas in castle bruma and keep one for yourself

The bust is a quest item and cannot be removed from your inventory when the gaurds arrest you. I did this by accident
