Back in 1975 or so my step dad came home with an Ampex 1/4" reel to reel tape deck. It included a bunch of tapes with no labels. One of those tapes had this album on it. The other album on the tape was Pink Floyd. We never could figure out who this other band was. I have searched far and wide for decades and then I found this. One of the greatest mysteries of my life has finally been solved.
Jeff Curran
Congratulations!!!
Isn't that great?!
Cheers!!
Also check out their album hard attack
Que bueno misterio del rcknrll resuelto👍👍👍
A great story.. In 1974 I had something similar with a misterious record called ''Per Voi Giovani''.. about 15 years ago I discovered on Internet it was from a musician called Mirageman
I think RUclips was the best thing that happened to 70s rock. There are so many incredible bands like this that my generation can discover and appreciate. Thanks for posting!
Could not agree more.
Indeed...I feel like I am going through my second childhood discovering all the great bands out there I missed out on the first time around. My discoveries in the 1970s were via the dollar bins at department and record stores...both Dust albums were common cut-outs back in the day....
Jeni Kaybee
I learn about 3 or 4 more every day!
I think RUclips was the best thing that happened to music in the digital age. When I buy music now, it's 99% of the time something I discovered on YT and know what I'm in store for. Why buy an album if you don't know if you would like it? I find it a better alternative to the radio, which doesn't exactly help you discover music anymore.
Jazz Cigarettes I hope it washes away classic rock radio stations which seem to think we love listening to Hotel California 40 times a day
It sounds like punk, blue grass, country, blues, jazz and metal... I dig it!
The really cool thing about RUclips is all the old obscure rock music that is hard to find can be found here. It is the best thing since sliced bread
Trouble is it's quite expensive to acquire copies when and if you can get them.
Then theirs the classic country hard to finds from the 70's plus everything from a to z i find so much of what i look for no matter what genre.
Better than pussy-willows?😃
Marky is tearing it up on those drums like an octupuss that got dropped off at a music store and made it its home.
Absolutely! Thank you for this!
amazing drummer
I was born in 1971 and I am just now hearing this for the 1st time. I never knew this existed.
I saw Dust and Alice Cooper in in the under ground parking lot in Saint Louis. The Arena 1972. I never listened to RUclips until 4 years ago. I play my vinyl albums on my technics stereo and i have thousands of vinyl albums and that's not enough for me. So kick up the good stuff and play it Loud 🔊all day n night long till the lights go out . Band's were cheap back thenl
That’s a good show!Saw AC this summer and 52 years later he’s still rockin!
These guys played at my high school back in 1971!
Moline High School? I saw them at an assembly in Coolidge jr high. I think when I saw them it was '72.
this is one of the hardest album covers of all time
The cover of their "Hard Attack" LP is awesome too! It looks like something that should be airbrushed on the side of a van or a big rig!
Best cover ever in my mind though is Sir Lord Baltimore's 1st LP, "Kingdome Come". Look closely at all the little details on that one!
i thought it was a grind cover
Pretty sure this pic is from the Capuchin Catacombs in Palermo, Sicily. I've been there twice....place is bonkers.
I actually had the pleasure of seeing these guys in a tiny club in New York in 71 when they only had this album and was blown away with the talent. There were maybe 50 people in the audience we all sat on the floor in front of the band. Awesome musicians!!
How possibly could the folks remain sitting on the floor ? At least while Loose Goose - physically not possible to me not to "move to".
You are a lucky man!!!👍
You could have invented the pit.
I was lead guitar in a band at the time and we learned Loose Goose. We opened our set with it. What a blast!
I met Marc Bell and had him sign my copy. When I met him I told hem that he looked like he was BORN to be a RAMONE! (For those who don't know, Marc Bell eventually became Marky Ramone)
Was he also the drummer for the Voidoids Fürst Album?
Dust is the first rock band I ever saw in concert, opening for Alice Cooper in '71. Their premier album is the first album I ever bought. I have never grown weary of it.
Right on, dude. Must have been amazing. Such a great time for music.
That must be a great memory.
BAD IDEA! NO! DON'T DO IT! 75?!?
Lucky Guy!!!
Sounds like a killer show.
Very good band, Unknown to many, Hard Rock Heavy Metal for eternity. Saludos desde Alicante.
More like as if Nazareth were a bit heavier on this album and that is why they only really have Hair Of The Dog than any other album which is still in folk’s record collection. The earlier stuff is just alright too, but after’80’s Holiday video that band was basically all done in.

Both Dust lp's, Captain Beyond S/T and Jericho 1972 S/T three of the best underground hard rock groups ever!!!!!!!!!!! orgasmic....
I thought they had 3 lps
Heart Attack
@@DreamStarGalaxy Dust put out 2 albums, Dust 1971 and Hard Attack 1972 on Kama Sutra Records.
@@timklecha1401your right about Dust and they were good to see live n Loud 🔊 in 1972.
@@billyjohnson9293 That must have been awesome to see them live. To hear From a Dry Camel live was amazing I assume.
Have a listen to Tarantula 1969 Album. Very Zappa ESC. Hope you like it. Kevin Melbourne Australia
the two Dust albums are of great quality and energy , and are to be considered an example of how even smaller bands can make marvelous things
By small bands you mean the overpriced mediaocre bands, the "size" of a band is measured by the genius of your songs.
Oh exactly...there is real economy in a trio especially one like this one.
I didn't find out about this album until the late 80s and listened to it at least once a week for years. One of my favorite albums of all time.
Still have both lps. Great music
@@kennethjacobs2963 was the other album Heart Attack with the song Pull Away? By Dusk
They remind me of Savoy Brown, Mountain and the Grateful Dead all rolled into one. These guys are amazing. I discovered them less than a year ago, so it's nice to see them getting some love.
Mountain... the intro of the second track.
how did I just hear this band in 2019? This is some serious rock !
I was just thinking the same in 2022 😀
1st time I hear this band, awesome drumming !
6/22/23 just found this and I'm blown away
@@maximegervais2213 that's Marc Bell......better known later on as Mark Malone.....the drummer for The Ramones. On bass is Kenny Arenson (spelling???) who has had a fantastic career playing for Rick Derringer and many others! I think that's Ritchie Wise on guitar. I think he ended up doing work behind the scenes with KISS.
Dust is f***ing fantastic!
Serious musicians! Love this band!
I recall the Radio Commercials for their concert (on KSHE-95) about 1971 or 72
" From DUST you came and to DUST shall you go "
I know what you mean about the show and it was a small amount of people.
The very first band I ever saw, what an experience, especially for a High School event in the auditorium.
Still remember it back in 1972 ish, and the best part I still have my Dust Ticket after all these years.
Frame it, its a diamond.
I wish you could post a picture of it
@@nonoiker Half of the ticket is ripped off, a method they used back in the day for entry. But the " DUST ... after it all settles" signature is still visible. I can post a picture if I can figure out how.
Amazing discovery. I will now hunt for this vinyl in the real world. Such a good album!
From 1971 ?!-my time, but never heard.
Better late then never !
Good stuff !!!!!
Check out Budgie's 4th LP "In For The Kill" and Sir Lord Baltimore's 1st "Kingdom Come" if you haven't already done so. Toe Fat "Two" has some good stuff....Bloodrock...Stan Webb & Chicken Shack "Imagination Lady" LP..... Atomic Rooster's "In Hearing Of...." the first Wishbone Ash.....Toad's first and 2nd titled "Tomorrow Blue" Rock on!
Kenny Aaronson has gotta be the most underrated bass player in rock history.
agree but the whole band is amazing
Drummer Marc Bell became Marky Ramone of The Ramones.
Like that the band spreads much of the climate of the later sixties. But also, most of the time I get the impression, that it's possible to "smell" the change of the decades from '60s to '70s.
Anyway: Vocals and guitar are magical. The music of Dust on this record is mysteriously (in that , I couldn't say exactly how they do) much more convincing to me, than many other bands in.this style/at that time. 😋yummie!!!
very good all............................................................................................
First Class! I bought this album 2002 ín Budapest.
These guys opened for Alice Cooper in St. Louis, '71. I bought this album the next day.
...me. too!!...
Fron A Dry Camel!! Uau!! My God...the Best albun
Whoa! What a monumental band! Its been ages since I've heard an album this perfect.
I have not listened to this since 1975.
One of the first "Heavy-Metal"bands. As I had limited access to FM back then, I admit I never heard any of their stuff, but I like it--especially the use of slide guitar.
I've always had a soft-spot for a good slide, and with so few really good players...well...I'm sorry I didn't find these guys "back in the day" when I was growing up...
Such an albumcover....
They were so good. The second album is just priceless too. My uncle brought it over to my house one day. That's all I needed to have happen now I absolutely love them. What i enjoy is starting this one and ending with nthe end of side b on hard attack just a complete pack of dust to the brain
went to the record store today to get some conert tickets and this stuff was playing. i asked the cashier what band that was. with her info i went home, smoked a joint and started listening to this album. ten minutes in i've ordered that album (sadly not from the record store), which i regreted kind of instantly but still happy that i've found this gem. thanks dust!
wow🙏😇! i was dancing in a very wild style to this music aged 16 years old! its fantastic and i am happy, i found it today traveling back into very very very old memories!
and i liked sooooo very much these dramatic voices!!!!
Every time I put this lp on, I get up about 5 times to listen to Chasin Ladies over and over. Both Dust Lps are insanely great
This album slipped under the the radar. Thought I had most alternative rock albums at the time. Great energy and playing. Thanks for posting!
Marc Bell: future Voidoids and Ramones drummer!
So glad I grew up in St. Louis area, used to hear great music like this on K-SHE 95. Heard 70s classic rock from bands like Strawbs, Lucifer's Friend, Triumvirat, Gypsy, Nektar, etc. Real rock never dies, it lives on!
youtube is a gold mine for awsome 70's music. Love the Dutch 70's music.
My brother got this album in the mid-70s because the cover looked cool, and he thought it might be good. Good choice; we played the crap out of it.
holy chit this album absolutely RRRRRIPS !!!
These two guys in DUST produced KISS' first 2 lps, Hotter than hell, and self titled KISS lp! 1974
Really???
@littlebritain64 yes. actually the guitarist did. Richie wise ? kenny kerner?
First time listening to this. What a great band and record!
I'm getting so much Melvins vibes. I bet Buzz and Dale were/are fans of Dust.
This band came to our high school and played a concert in the auditorium in the spring of 1971. It cost $1. The lead singer gave a short 1-2 minute anti-drug talk (the pretense under which they were invited I believe, lol) and then they got on with it. I always remembered their name. Obviously they had a good sound very much of that era, and the production was outstanding.
My brother had this album and I remember listening to it, great stuff
Don't know why RUclips recommended this to me but I'm grateful!
Great album!👏👏👏
Love the opener "Stone woman ".
"Loose Goose" on 8-track blasting the speakers in my '67 Mustang fastback. Good times.
One of the best comments I've ever read on RUclips. Rock on guy.
My band used to cover "Loose Goose" along with "Love Me Hard" and "From a Dry Camel".
Man, the 70's were some of the best years of my life.
It's crazy that Marc Bell is more famous for being in the Ramones when he had a notable career long before that. His drumming on the Dust albums is incredible. Not to mention working with innovative guitar players like Robert Quine.
First time finding these guys , they kick ass! Totally a random score in RUclips reccomends
Never heard about such band as DUST. To be honest, I was just curious what kind of music is behind such album cover. And I was very surprised. Excellent music. So just have to thank you for the sharing. :) Added to my wanted albums list :)
Do yourself a big favor pick up their other album Hard attack it's at least as good as this and some like it even better😮
Award for "Best Album Cover Ahead of Its Time" goes to...
Peter Pandemonium personally I think the cover for the second album is better
In 1972, the whole skulls and metal thing was yet to be. Well, I guess metal itself was a nascent thing. The 2nd album Frazetta cover was ground breaking as well.
Somewhere I read that the photo is of dead Italian soldiers in WW2.
THANKS FOR SHARING , I DID'NT HAVE THIS ALBUM .....NEVER KNEW THIS ALBUM EXISTED......UNTIL I GOT THE 2ND ALBUM IN EARLY 70'S TOOK ME ANOTHER FEW YEARS TO FIND A USED COPY OF THIS RECORD ALBUM.
Wow dust in st.louis that musta been freaking great I was 1 year old. . They are awesome got the album mint condition it had a 1.98 price tag from peachs music store I am sure it's worth somethig
Very talented young guys. Listen to Marc Bells drumming on their second album "Hard Attack", it's amazing! He was only 15 back then.
Richie Wise was incredible, he played guitar left hand like Hendrix. After Dust he stopped playing at 21 and produced the first Kiss album.
Drummer Marc Bell became Marky Ramone of The Ramones.
I think 17 or 18, not 15.
I thought this was going to be heavy rock going by the cover, this is just brilliant,so glad to have found it and listened to it.🎸
My new fave album. The cover is appropriate because this shit will melt your face off!
Lucky are to have seen this band back then and up front!!!!
One of the first American heavy metal bands ever. Them and Sir Lord Baltimore
Peter Kaminsky, Damn right! Riot and Cirith Ungol would follow next!
MC 5 ? Forgotten this band ?
Sir Lord Baltimore were from England
@@MrUSSAM I think they were from NYC.

Great to see a lot of views and comments. Wow! 10 o/o 10! Unbelievably fantastic album. Best new album I've heard in a while. Wait. It's from '71. Can't wait to hear the rest of their catalog.
The fact I can find this album is awesome!
wow, I haven't heard this album in over 35 years. I owned it until it was stolen. Turned out it was irreplaceable. I was sad to see it fade into obscurity. Finally found it again!
One of my favourite hard rock albums
This is Excellent! Just what I needed right now!
buen trío pesado, armónico y fresco, buena sorpresa, gracias por compartir !!!!!!!!!!!!

BANDOTA. DE LOS MEJORES ÁLBUMES UNDERGROUND DE LOS 70
They Played my High School in like '70-71??...........Was really a good show.
You got to see Marky Ramone in your high school? That's kickass.
Around '71 or '72 these guys played my High School! The flyer read "After the dust settles" Concert was after lunch, tickets were a buck or so, it was a half day friday. They were good! As I recall, about mid-show they brought up the lights and rolled out their really fat drummer- introducing him as their "better half".
what no way thats soo rad
They played at my high school also.
They played in Whitehall (Columbus) ohio in the 70's at the High School
High school concerts weren't so unusual back then. Even The Stooges played high schools.
Incredibile sound and power , hard rock and not only this , masterpiece
Perfect!
Discovered this Band recently so glad i did.
They were great but Short lived like a another Great band and one of my favorites all time CREAM 🤦🏾♂️ wish they would’ve stayed together for at at least 5yrs
never heard, have to state that this has been most enjoyable
Completely forgot about these guys until I found this vid. Really good stuff.
Wow, great album, I must get a hold of a copy. Thanks for sharing, liked the other album too! Don't care for Ramones, this is much better!
