Rat Diet | Seed Mix Recipe

What I feed my rats every day. Rat diet includes oxbow pellets, seed mix (recipe included in the video), and daily fresh fruits and veggies.
I want to be SUPER CLEAR that this is NOT a replacement for a lab block, such as Oxbow. It is a SUPPLEMENT, rats need more food and nutrients than this.
This rat diet is based off of other people's diets (such as the rat whisperer) I've come across and I have been using this for the past 4 years (including my last set of rats).

Rats should not have spinach bc of the oxalates. Anything a person with kidney stones has to avoid, so should a rat. Spinach can cause detrimental affects on rats kidneys.

How much of the seed mix and Oxbow do you feed per day per rat? Amazing video by the way! The mix looks perfect!

Gregory Shafe thanks! I give about 1 tablespoon of seed mix per rat a day, and I give a nice handful of oxbow total (sorry haven’t measured that out). Just make sure to watch your rats weight and adjust their portions accordingly :)

Since I have 3 pretty small female rats, I give about 1 tablespoon each. They probably get about 1.5-2 tablespoons of Oxbow each as well. I kind of just grab a small handful :)
