"Sail Away" by Malcolm Daglish.
watching this because my freshmen choir class is singing this as our first song of the year! hope to sound as good as you ;D
I remember singing this in 5th grade and absolutley loving that darn dulcimer. This is probably the best version on youtube yet. Thanks!!!!
came to this looking for a different song, but I must say this is absolutely beautiful
I agree - it's beautiful. I was looking for "Sail Away Ladies" (the traditional version) and I think this might just be an arrangement of that song. It made me wonder which song you were looking for? I used to play this song with 2 mates of mine in the US and towards the end of the song, Joe would break into a clog dance in step with the beat of the song. It was really moving and fun to play.
It's a song I sang in choir last year, and I can't find it anywhere. It went "Hush little baby, dont say a word, sail away ladies, sail away. You'll be an angel by and by, sail away ladies sail away. dont you rock em diedio, dont you rock em diedio" And I just love the song
This is awesome
Beautiful
stunning. brings back beautiful memories of my senior year of high school
The left and right channels of the audio are swapped.
I absolutely love conducting this piece... great job, everyone!
Let's acknowledge the original from Uncle Dave Macon (1927), on which
Malcolm based his version. "Don't you rock 'em di-de-oh." Search RUclips: "Sail Away Ladies Uncle Dave Macon."
I did this with him back when i was in 5th grade along with several of his other songs, and again my senior year of high school.
he came and we did a concert of all of his songs with him playing the hammer dulcimer.
pretty cool.
i still remember all the words to this song and several others.
when you sing them from like 3rd grade up, they get etched in forever.
Really scary when you go on the Internet and see someone from your choir...
I remember singing this song
back in 5th grade, oh the memories :,)
i sang this in 7th grade. i'm in college now but sometimes i listen to this to remember how beautiful it is. genuinely one of the best pieces i've ever had the pleasure to perform
I sung this with a youth choir in 2001 with Malcom as well and we never had a recording, but since hearing him play in the hall and the choir I sang with, I have never forgotten that incredible song! Great to hear it again...
sung this with malcolm dalglish tonight and the young voices of melbourne, it was amazing!
I'm singing this in my gala concert with other year 7-9 choirs and one 11-12 years choir
