    The word epinephrine derives from epi, meaning above, and nephros, the root word for kidney, because the gland sits atop the kidney. Epinephrine is also called adrenaline, derived from the name of its gland.

    Question. At 15:38 - what’s the use of giving IV epi if the patient is having cardiac arrest, meaning no pump and no blood flow. How will the IV epi reach the heart??

    • @MedicosisPerfectionalis
      @MedicosisPerfectionalis  3 года назад +1

      You usually give it through a central line. It reaches the heart because the circulation is not 100% stagnant. In addition, veins have valves and they have some muscles to guide the blood towards the heart. Moreover, asystole refers to the ventricles, not the atria.

      Fasting (and starvation) will put my body in the counterregulatory hormone state (anti-insulin state: i.e. glucagon, cortisol, and epinephrine).

I watch a lot of courses and lectures on RUclips videos and rarely have this problem. I thing one cause is the lack of attention to the need to articulate clearly.
