Man, we're getting spoiled with all of these great videos. The knee bump is a classic - so much stronger than the standard bridge. You have to be prepared for a bigger person on top of you, and this works wonders for that.

Most white belt stuff is still usable at higher levels. It annoys me that so many BJJ gyms today do all this fancy stuff and often neglect to build a solid base in their new students to build a solid base by drilling the same 25 or so techniques over and over again. Yes, that might be boring but that's the only way to get good at actual fighting! For self defense BJJ was good to go in 1993 and probably a long time before that! I'm not really fond of all that competition BJJ nowadays! BJJ was designed for self defense against a single, physically superior opponent - no weight classes, no nothing!

Thanks for the video. I remember the Denis Kang escape in one of your past videos. I felt that would be really hard to pull off without eating some punches. But, it works really well when I'm just rolling without strikes.

Nice! For punch blocking I usually do the one I've seen from Rener where you bridge and get a double under around the back grip. But that ones a bit more difficult but I really like how safe you feel from strikes in that position.
Also I really like the one legged bridge. I'll have to try that when my bridge doesn't bring em down!!!

Love this technique. So easy to teach and really works.
From a selfdefense point of view I tell students to punch the attacker in the groin if they have trouble getting him to come forward. (groin strikes don't work 100% of course, but big chance they do)

god man, that is such a horrible idea. if you punch someone in the groin while they have you in the MOST dominant position possible, you are really gambling on you winning. if he gets the better of you, he might just beat you to death out of rage for what you did.

Hi, what if he is much higher up? would you suggest being able to get both your feet up and around his face then dragging him to one side also would a knee strike aimed into his kidneys have any effect,.. basically most attackers are not going to sit on you that low for YOUR convenience.

what if the opponent is mounted on my chest? Is easier to do this when he is in your hips , but what i can do if he is much above me?

Question would this work for a bigger or taller opponent or oversized?

Very slick! I think I heard you say this would work on a bigger person, would it work on a much MUCH bigger person? Say someone who out weights you by about 100 pounds? I ask because my younger brother and myself have this dynamic. He has size and youth, I have better stamina and techniques. Well this one time we were wrestling and when we fell he was on top. The only thing that saved me was conditioning, it took maybe 3 to 5 min to get him off of me ( seemed like a lifetime!) but I couldn't let him win! Would this technique have worked on him?
