      Pre ordering already says it all, consume their filth all you want. Lore wise it dosent look good for the game, i dont care that much about the style and its not a problem for me that they have pivotted towards Mass effect like gameplay.
      A smart thing to do if you want good games again is NOT preordering anymore so they actually have to do good work in order to make money.
      Its already huge red flags that they changed the game design from MMO to single player AGAIN like they did with Inqusition and the title change is also a bad sign.

      @@georgeide2337 Reason the Multiplayer or well MMO version was cancelled was because EA saw the success of Jedi Survivor and bam...back to single player, so you know that's already a positive just one positive though. This game is like the Fourth version, changing the title of the game cannot be seen as a bad sign, still a name that makes sense and they can pick whichever names they want, nothing we can say there, we are not the devs after all. Now the fact this is the fourth version of their game is the one bad negative sign you can see.

      Thank you, MeloveSims! The community definitely seems to be very split on the game at the moment. I try not to let anyone else's negativity impact my own personal judgement of a game I have yet to play for myself. It's for sure served me well in the past.

    More info for those who aren't subscribed to every Dragon Age channel:
    It has been confirmed with images by multiple people (including Ghil Dirthalen) that there will be lots of blood, gore, and nudity in game with the game getting an M rating. The blood was turned off for the gameplay trailer, which I personally suspect is for advertising reasons. It has also been confirmed that there will be moments as dark as Origins, but that most of these involve heavy spoilers. The emphasis is on a contrast between dark and light so as to even further accentuate the horrors we will see. Major W I think for people who do want a darker tone, it looks to be going for a balance between Inquisition and Origins which would be peak.

    Out of all the reaction videos I've seen, yours was the one I was waiting for. :)
    A couple of things:
    (These have been discussed on the BioWare blog so are not listed as spoilers)
    1) From what I've read, your choices can carry over into the game, but only for Inquisition. As in Inquisition, Tarot cards will be used to reflect the decisions that were made. As such, the Keep/World States will not be used. My take on this is that the choices that were made in Origins and Dragon Age II now are classified as ancient history.
    2) The same way you could create Hawke for his part in Inquisition's story line, you can create your Inquisitor for Veilguard's.
    3) Specialization can be chosen right off the bat - you don't need to be at a specific level and/or a specific part of the story line to unlock them.
    4) Each one of your companions represents one of the six factions your Rook can belong to: Shadow Dragons (Neve), Grey Wardens (Davrin), Antivan Crows (Lucanis), Lords of Fortune (Taash), Mourn Watch (Emmrich), and Veil Jumper (Bellara). As in Dragon Age II, romances are not gender-locked.
    Can't wait to see your "Gay Let's Play" for this one! Have you already decided on what race/class you'll be playing...and most important, who you'll be romancing? 😏

    • @jord839
      @jord839 Месяц назад +3

      One counterpoint:
      1) It's probably less "these are ancient history" so much as "You're in a completely different side of the continent where whoever is ruling Fereldan and Orzammar is pretty much not that important and so we just decided to save ourselves the trouble and not reference it in the story."
      Alistair/Anora have their own crap to deal with, same with whoever's ruling Orlais. The Free Marches are their usual mess and divided self with all the problems involved (though I imagine Viscount Varric being absent means he passed the title on). Whoever is ruling Orzammar has their own issues. The Templar/Mage issues are resolved and pretty much standardized (there's a College vs. a Circle of Magi always thanks to Trespasser, the Reborn Seekers are basically taking over most of the old Templar Order's role in a new way in most endings including the Allied Templars one, and on and on).
      At this point, most of the remaining choices with ramifications can be quietly sidelined and save the devs a whole lot of time to not deal with them since we're in completely different countries now.

    • @TarotMage
      @TarotMage Месяц назад +1

      @@jord839 Agreed. A lot of it was centralized to Ferelden and the Free Marches. I had asked elsewhere how the mage/templar conflict might have affected Tevinter, and the majority of responses I received were 'not much' since magic is the cornerstone to everything there.
      I was thinking more along the timeline. Approximately 22 years have passed between the start of Dragon Age: Origins and the start of Veilguard. With the Grey Wardens as one of the factions your Rook can choose as a background, I'm hoping that the Hero of Ferelden's quest to find a cure for The Calling will be addressed.

    I think my concerns are mostly down to the in-game ten year time skip. It makes the inquisition look a little incompetent. I also think the decision to completely drop the keep is concerning because it feels like previous games don’t matter as much and nor do those characters or the relationships. I *am* excited but there is some lingering fears that the Thedas I built will be retconned. The game looks beautiful though and that musical score is outstanding. I also like the look of the combat it looks really fun. Just trying to be positive and remember they can’t make the game that is in my head lol!

      In character creation for Veilguard we'll be able to pick the world saves we want from previous games so don't worry about that. As for the fear...well it's inevitable, Biowares headcanon is Alistair as sole ruler after all, its shown in their novels and comic books I believe so nothing we can do there.

      The keep was dropped for many many reasons. Honestly? It was a buggy mess, that kept crashing and the site kept going down.
      Could you imagine starting up veilguard, and you can't start because there's too many people in the keep?
      Personally, I'm glad this game has a built in DA keep. It also means it will be a bit less buggy, and doesn't have to rely of third parties, and this also means you don't need an Internet connection.

    As a veteran of DA:O ad lover of their tactical playstyle, by now I just hope that the melee close combat can be done with auto targetting. They really messed up with the first trailer, it rubbed everyone the wrong way, and now they have a huge hill to climb to gain back any semblance of goodwill. I think this gameplay reveal would have been received a lot more positive if they had not released a tone deaf trailer that nobody liked just 2 days before.
    There are things to question in this gameplay, it's not perfect, not even close, but it feels like a lot of people are just throwing the entire game under buss without giving it a fair shake.
    Personally I will not buy this game day 1, those days are long gone, but this gameplay reveal at least showed me the game is worth keeping an eye on, if it seems people are liking it when it releases I'll buy it after a short while, if not, well then I won't.

    I'm hopeful yet doubtful because of all the behind-the-scenes stuff and the loss of vital Dragon Age staff during development. Apparently, this game also suffered from a change in game design from MMO to single-player RPG like Inquisition did.
