    This is truly proper food at the proper time Wally.
    I just signed the lease on my first apartment yesterday. I'm LEAVING the cult once and for all! Almost exactly 3 years ago, April 5th 2021, I got baptized.
    Woke up a couple months later.
    After being pimo to keep a roof over my head while I saved money .... I'm on my way out. It's crazy

    Things I accomplished since leaving the cult. Majored in art and colonial history at UMaine. Studied martial arts. Met and married my professor husband. Work with animals. Going back to school for a BS in animal behavior. I am 70 years of age, left the cult in my mid 20s. Never looked back. I and my cousins were 3rd generation. We have all left. My mom and sister stayed, they both died of cancer.

    Hi, Wally! I logged out of therapy after talking about boundary-setting and why I still wind up in the relationships I end up in, over 8 yesrs after my 9-year marriage to my ex-JW ex-wife after being raised in the religion, then saw your video. I think this was "spritual food at the proper time!"😎👌🏽💪🏽💪🏽

    Usually don't write long stuff, but this video really touched me a lot. I always wanted to have lasting friends outside of the org but ofc they're worldly people. Unfortunately Ive woken up since 12 but still too young to leave this cult. Hopefully this year I can finally leave to go live with my dad, as of right now typing that I can feel myself getting happier with that freedom I'll have to be myself... It's sad when a kid feels this way, and I wish this feeling was rare for children and teens...even adults. I can't wait when this religion that my mother is brain washed in will soon be a memory. And to all who are slowly waking up, always be curious.

    Great video and format!
    As a JW I always had a fascination with martial arts. Not so much the violent or competitive aspects of it, but the ability to learn something that will allow self defense and new physical abilities. The friends I have made in that community is great. Also, don’t be afraid to express where you came from and what you went through. Just don’t make that define who you are, it was just who you were and where you were at in that point in time. Sometimes I get sad thinking of the time wasted, but I think of the positives I enjoyed and knowing some have un-alived themselves at a much younger age because they could not find what I found. Stay safe everyone. ❤

Good advice in this one as sometimes you really have to sit down & make an analysis of what's going on in your life, especially as you've been trained to never give much thought to yourself. I'm looking forward to seeing ways of letting go of ingrained habits . Hope you stay safe & have a good day.

    I remember asking, "How were student talks timed in the 1st Century?" Understanding the hisorical context helps the adjustment. Remember that human activities that build understanding and knowledge help.

    • @kylekataryn3454
      @kylekataryn3454 7 месяцев назад +1

      if they had such talks, and did time them, there were a lot of interesting methods to calculate time: candles with pins, sand glasses, and you can look at the sun within 15 minute accuracy. each finger in a handspan outstreched from your body represents about 15 mintues. your handspan represents about an hour.
      Greeks also began to use a Waterclock aroun the 4th cen BCE. the oldest method of time keeping might be the sundial: a stick in the dirt.
      a really good book on timekeeping is Dava Sobe "Longitude" you need to know the time at your port of exit inorder to calculate how far north or south you are. latitude is measured by the angle of the sun.

    • @thumbstruck
      @thumbstruck 7 месяцев назад

      @@kylekataryn3454 cool stuff to know! Talks in the winter would've been shorter, because the daylight and night were each divided into 12, the length of the hours fluctuating with the seasons.

    I like "ON the couch With exWitness Wally", as a series name for these more informal, casual episodes.
    @4.16, A vegetable, nay an underground tuber type of joke that didn't work? There was the obvious "Turnip / Turn up..."

    Since woke, I understood we human just needs a community. Just was delusional thinking jw was the best one cuz believing someone invisible of this community was the greatest love of all, but it wasn’t😅To me now, not being afraid of someone invisible is fascinating which meant I didn’t/ don’t need to fear the people in the community I was! Actually must be thankful at least the community of the country I’m in is a free country that allows free thinking and speech.

      I know how this feels. I was a very studious JW, but in my case it was because I was searching for emotional support, healing, and spirituality. Now that I'm out, I seek out these same things elsewhere but the cult. Try to remember what made you interested in JW in the first place, and then find other more credible sources to replace that. Perhaps you can find a new sense of belonging and sense of self through it. Give yourself all the time you need too. It'll be quite the experience.

    Legalistic interpretations of Christianity and be mind bending. We are "imperfect" - incomplete. We learn by experience (mistakes), we need to have fellow feeling. "Love your neighbor as yourself" - can't be done without having a good estimation of yourself. We show our love for God by how we deal with others.

See! I’m just as cringy lol. It’s a shame you are so far away so I can’t stop by and say Hi. I’m here in Germany struggling with the reality of being a PIMO for the simple fact I will be so alone and isolated if I go. And well let’s be candid here. This is Germany and full of Germans. They are not the friendliest bunch of people. So striking up a conversation in a coffee shop I will viewed as a serious weirdo. But I might have to take up drinking beer and go sit in the pub or in the beer garden. Oh how far I have fallen.
