    I find it fascinating MotorWeek can make even the newest of episodes feel like they got made in the 1990's. Audio is buzzy like if done on a boom mic, video looks like 720p, cast is the same John D, same old school country club suits. I love it.

      The wife and I are on vacation presently and we are looking to replace her 2012 GTI Autobahn DSG that we purchased new. The Integra Type S is one of the vehicles we are considering. We visisted three dealerships and 2 had the vehicle marked up 10k with an additional 2.5k in dealerhship add-ons and the other dealer wanted 15k over sticker. Each dealer relayed to me it is a special car, I just chuckled.

    • @jameswillard1
      @jameswillard1 8 месяцев назад +2

      Dealer markups are virtually gone already on them in my experience, several Acura dealerships are sitting on them already. I predict discounts on them fairly soon

    • @geneg6343
      @geneg6343 8 месяцев назад

      @@jameswillard1 Unfortunately, markups are still the standard for certain models in SOCAL (Orange County and San Diego County). We are also considering a VW Golf R with markups from 5k - 15k. We can get a new BMW M2 for MSRP and we may go that route. We have an 18 BMW M5 F90 and prior to the M5 we had a new 15 BMW M3 F80. The interesting issue is we test drove both the M3 at 82k MSRP in July of 2014 and the M5 in August of 2018 with a MSRP of $124k. Trying to get a test drive in Acura Integra Type S and Golf R is like pulling teeth and has not been possible. Funny we did test drive a new Audi RS3 with no issues but they wanted 20k over MSRP. My wife of 37 years is the frugal one and I would have no problem spending 70k on a new M2 even though we are not thrilled with the exterior design of the vehicle.

    Perhaps I'm spoiled, but I continue to be deflated when car after car is hyped, and then the actual numbers come out. I gauge a sedan based on my ownership in the early to mid 2000's of a WRX, STi, and LGT. Every one of those vehicles were faster than this. For more 'hyper' sedans, I bounce it against a previous owned Audi S8 4.0 TT which I bought used, and to date, not a single vehicle at that same used car price point comes near to its performance. I really want to like this vehicle. It's good looking, seems to tick most of the right boxes (maybe not the fwd aspect though), and comes with a manual trans. However, these numbers seem slow to me. Perhaps it is the driver? Track and weather conditions? I don't know but when a 20 year old stock Subaru can lay down a 12.9 sec. 1/4 mile, and this one is near an entire second behind....it makes me shake my head. Definitely a used car prospect given the MSRP. I predict it'll drop fairly quickly too due to the manual. Picked up a Caddy ATS-V for a great price for that same reason, before they started to become more popular with those considering collecting.

      If you're only looking at acceleration and specsheet numbers then you're a fairly common/entry level sportscar enthusiast. Your tastes may/should mature as you grow up and get more experience with cars. Do you track and have your HPDE4 to really appreciate nuances across different cars? The average person really has no idea what they're talking about beyond the feel of which car is faster when they floor it. I'm mostly a RWD purist but if you've ever driven FWD cars with any moderate amount of horsepower than you should be able to appreciate how they nearly eliminated torquesteer in this car. The Type R & S are quite likely the best performing FWD cars made to date- if the niche demographic of FWD cars is interesting to you.
