If we all open 20-30 videos of yours and watch them parallel he get a lot of viev time, i think i opened 15 videos and let them all watch at same time, i watched only 1 video but about 15 were going, so about 15 fully watched videos in 20 min to simply boost view time, and you deserve it my man
I work for some yotube channels and I can say this is something natural with coocking channels, if someone is looking in the internet about how to make a pizza there would be internet sites with your video embeded and people will click to see it, those peope are not lookig for your video per se so thats why the low watch time. At the same time if somebody wants to hurt your channel there are more obvious and easy ways... I will not elaborate in that but why 1 minute and not 15 secods of watch time, or even less. The reality is that a lot more people are watching your video and are not invested in it, because those people don´t come from the youtube logaritm. So the answer is to work in your rettention, asking subs to watch the whole video but not in offering content to actually stay is not the answer. Comparing watch time between subs and not subs is not optimal. Check ways to enhance editing, storytelling is the way to go.

@@mechemoy easy said, but hard to put together, not everybody has the editing skill of a half greek god, his subs who always watch his video and always come to his channel will always support him, since you work for youtube channels, why not give tipps to him, why dont you COOK somn something ;)
This is the sad side of RUclips, the algorithm punishes you a lot for far too little. I learned to make pizza with your channel and I definitely don't want to see you close down. But the sad part is that RUclips really doesn't care about the content creators and starts giving diminishing returns to people who are successful. Keep your chin up, branch out to other platforms as well.
This IS NOT a RUclips issue...
This is a Vito issue!
1. Incoming traffic with "unknown" device - EVERYONE on YT has this issue... It's a link from food sites and food blogs, that purposely use scripted link to mess with the initial stat... However, if they click again inside your YT channel, it will register. This is actually GOOD for you! The opposite would be that NOBODY links to your channel.
2. The 1 minute view is accurate... It's pizza... I checked.... there a about +72,000 pizza recipes/mentions on RUclips. Why would yours be special to "them?"
3. Vito calls people idiots, terrible human being and disrespectful for putting the "wrong" thing on the THEIR pizza.... and throw THEIR preferred food in the garbage... Why would they not unfollow Vito for disrespecting their choices and culture?
4. Vito walks in to random Pizza joints and literally shit on the people working there and their product.... It's often horrifying! Embarrassing... cringe!
5. Vito has made the same basic video 100 times... same thing. Nothing changed, except the weather or the oven (that most people will never be able to afford.) You don't even need to watch it for even ONE MINUTE... we know the process and outcome already... Why spend even one minute on it?
Vito needs to reinvent himself! He should try to be a bit more open to what his audience want... not WHAT VITO THINKS is right for everyone.
6. Vito, was actually a meme on Twitter (X) where he insulted millions on people... and while grinning like an imbecile and threw THEIR food in the garbage as it was worse than dog food. He did not need to that. It's stupid!
@RedRisotto It seems you have quite an interest in discredit Vito without any good reason. As a regular viewer of his channel I completely disagree with all the above points. Following his instriuction it's important to watch from beginning to end to have the best outcome. He has videos have many different topics/content on pizza, so it is certainly not the same thing 100 times. You are just here to troll, maybe the same people that are behind the bots.

It's not just you or cooking channels. I've seen the same thing and I'm convinced that RUclips Shorts are slowly destroying channels that make longer format videos. I think the algorithm is pushing the shorts and at the same time, conditioning viewers to only want to watch a bunch of shorts rather than a 5 or 10 minute video. My views are down by at least 50% over the last year. Viewers are telling me that they are getting unsubscribed by YT, subscribers are telling me they are not getting notifications of new videos.

Agreed, seeing same thing on my end. I knew once they made the change for shorts to automatically open as soon as you tapped the mobile app, long form videos were in serious trouble.
I've rediscovered a dozen different channels in the past couple of days that I used to subscribe, most of them I've seen hundreds of videos from and have no idea why I would unsub from them. It's very strange.
I don't get any notifications from half the videos I'm interested in and I constantly get notifications from channels I've seen probably once and sometimes I'm not even subbed to them. Pretty bizarre. I have not seen a taofledermaus notification in years, despite being subscribed. I do get notifications from Vito though.

Reels are taking over and audiences’ attention is shorter than ever. It’s hurting long form video somehow. That’s all what I’ve gathered lately. Best of luck with the channel 🙏

I always get this videos of "youtube hates me" recommended to me also from random channels, and is always paranoid people that have zero idea of how the internet works lmao, of course if you upload a lot of low efford suddently your channel will crash

Most of the videos I watch are in the longer format and cover a broad range of topics and seem to get a lot of views. Dear Vito, 10 years ago I was looking for a pizza recipe on RUclips and I found you, since then I already bought an oven as a present for my 40th birthday, today I am 50 years old and I still come back to your recipe for a wonderful dough. Vito. I’m 54 and my advice to you is not to depend on these companies such as RUclips to feed your family.
Make pizza and make restaurants.
RUclips is your boss now and they can do anything they want to you and not protect you either.
Go back to old school restaurants and rely on your hands and heart to make amazing pizza.

Very valuable advice. RUclips, Twitch and all that is not reliable if your livehood is on the line. Too soon to put all eggs in the youtube basket, although it's doable, in the end it's your decision, best of luck!
Vito you have put all eggs in one basket. Wrong. You have to have multiple sources of income. Get back with your restaurant. Your viewers don’t care about you as much you think they do. Be the leader of your destiny, do not depend off your viewers, neither RUclips.

Your channel can not go away. I use your pizza recipes for my family pizza social gatherings for the last 3 years in my Ooni pizza oven. I watch them over and over while making poolish all the way to making the dough balls and forming the pizzas. Please don’t close the channel. I dont know what is happening with Google an RUclips Algorithm. I have a similar problem with toxic SPAM bots.
I have a small wine and olive webshop. In last 4 month I got more like than 30k backlink from toxic SPAM website, hanging out for 3 seconds. Normal users hanging out for like 3 minutes so those toxic spam website linking to me gave me a bad reputation.
So this is a very similar story, something weird is happening with Google / RUclips.

Most of the videos I watch seem to consist of the longer format, too, which I also like. I also seem to get a lot of RUclips surveys about the videos I watch-maybe everyone is getting these surveys-and I always answer them and give high ratings, again because I enjoy watching videos and I appreciate having access to really interesting content! I don’t have a television at the moment so my only ‘watching’ of media is on RUclips. 👍❤🍕

I've been making pizza for very long time, almost 15 years. After I watched just a few of your videos, I realized that almost everything I was doing wrong. It sounds like a cheap advertisement, but listen to this. Now many of my friends are telling me to open a restaurant, and I don't even have a proper pizza oven xd. The little things I've learned from you really make a difference, like cooking the dough with tomato sauce first and then adding the rest of the ingredients. Your channel is pure gold, this is like the library of pizza making. Keep it up Vito, we love you and your dedication.

Sure, I've watched other pizza making channels, but no other comes close in terms of quality and the education that I get. Vito my suggestion is not trying to change the public behaviour but to create content that will entice viewers to keep watching. I see videos all the time that say “watch until the end” as one method or creating shorts instead. The human attention span is only 8 seconds which has reduced 4 seconds in 20 years only predicted to reduce further again in future thanks to advances in technology. AI will just add to the complexity in future. So to watch an entire 10 minute or 20 minute clip particularly for the younger generation will be difficult these days.
Goes to show how much RUclips cares for their content creators. Good luck Vito.

From the perspective of a viewer, personally, I find your videos extremely enlightening, positive and educational. However, we are busy people and we don’t always have time to actually view the screen. Therefore, I suggest you can constantly keep talking about everything as you’re going along, so sometimes we may listen instead of watch the screen. Describe how you make the pizza and describe how it looks with each step, etc. Then, it could be a podcast as well. Also, if you lose viewers early on, perhaps, make 3-5 minute videos as well as longer videos. Sometimes, we have time to sit and watch a whole video. Other times we need shorter ones, especially if we need a refresher because we’re going to make pizza for dinner and we don’t have much time to watch long. Also, perhaps different style of spectacular pizzas that are easier for home ovens using a pan, etc.
I wish you the best because this is a great channel and you are a wonderful person to present so much passion for pizza.
PS, shorter videos bring new subscribers and longer videos are for those that are here to stay. Do both.

I agree with Deanna. I was initially very interested in watching your videos because it was all new to me, no matter how long. Now when I see one of your videos come up, I look at the length and decide it's too long for me to watch. Sorry, but that's the reason I don't watch as much as I could.
У вас очень класний канал ,и я люблю длинные ролики поэтому и смотрю,но алгоритмы ютуб другие ,делайте еще короткие ролики на 15 сек ,вы можете брать эти маленькие кусочки из старых видео ,что то монтирывать чтоб было всегда новое иначе ютуб не будет их продвигать .Люди стали очень ленивы чтобы смотреть что то долго.Так делайте для таких на 15 секунд и пусть смотрят.
I agree, i first watched the entire video of yours to learn the entire recipe, now i just skip through to the milestones to make sure i dont miss anything. I'd probably only watch around 30 seconds of the entire video. Maybe do the full video and then do a shorts version that really just powers through the key steps. link to it from the main video if you can. I've tried a whole range of doughs and i keep coming back to your Poolish recipe for my Gosney Roccbox. It's amazing, keep doing what you love!

Hey Vito, always been a huge fan of your channel. We recently started a channel ourselves that does longer form video and have been getting the exact same stats. Right about 1-2 min view time regardless of the length (5-20 min). Was thinking, while it's great to see that over 4700 people have commented and most saying they will watch till the end, that's still only about 0.4% of your subs. Maybe a better plan would be to play the game RUclips wants you to play. Start making a lot of shorts and in your shorts, push your long form videos more. I don't have evidence that this is a great idea but I've always believed in the fact that you can't change other people, you can only change yourself. Much love and we'll keep watching, to the end! :)

Hi Vito. You were one of the people that I "discovered" during COVID lockdowns. Absolutely love what you do and I watch all your videos from start to finish. Vito, I've only just found your channel and I find it ever so informative. Most other books / videos simply say how to make dough, but not why, and from what I've seen over the past few days, I'll be sure to go over your videos and give them a watch, because you're doing something that others aren't. I've been making pizzas at home for a few years now and always looking to improve. 64% is the magic hydration number for me :) keep doing what you do!
This is by far the best RUclips channel teaching how to make the best pizzas. After practice, My Wife and I find we do a better job making pizzas at home (with Vito's techniques) than any pizza place in town. What Google's RUclips algorithm does not take into account is how someone like me uses your channel. I watch your video for entertainment, but mostly, I use your channel for technical reference. I've learned so much from you, and when I have a question or problem, I know you’ll be there.
My husband says you saved his pizza life. He learned to make great pizza from watching your videos over and over and over to learn. He has sent his other pizza making friends to your channel to learn. Now I want him to master focaccia. We love your channel!

This is crazy. I only found you on RUclips a week or so ago and I’ve already watched about 50 videos start to finish (some of them many times). You’re a great teacher and inspiring to people like me that once thought I just couldn’t make decent pizza and convinced me to give it another shot. I’ve sent links to friends too. I see the video is from 8 months ago and hope things got better for you since then.
This is not good news, Vito. I watch your videos regularly (over and over again) to make sure I get things correct. You have taught me that making pizza is far more detail oriented than I thought. Just as @Taofledermaus said its not just you. I think YT is just trying to stay relevant with Tik Tok and other platforms, because RUclips doesn't make money with shorts, They don't even show ads and if they don't show ads they aren't making money and neither are we. I think this is going to pass because everyone I know including myself are tired of seeing shorts, Fry's your brain.
What do you thing shorts are it’s a representation of psychological state of mind - ADD DISORDER - it messes with you brain chemical- your brain is OVERWHELMED with constant information it goes to an ANXIETY MODE …and the DEPRESSION…it’s a digital Drug

But @Taofledermaus's theory is that RUclips is pushing people to watch shorts. You say RUclips makes no money on shorts. It does not make sense that they'd be pushing people to watch shorts if there is no money in it.
With short videos being so common now, I'd suggest putting a few short videos out there which would help draw people to see your channel and hopefully subscribe. You're an entertaining guy with great passion and talent, and guessing some short and fun videos would go a long way to boost things up. Best of luck!!

Another thing to think about is that it may not be a bot doing all of this. If I am watching your video on my phone and following along with the directions, I may need to pause the video while I kneed the dough or whatever. Eventually the phone will go to sleep. If I get a message or phone call, RUclips is no longer in the foreground. Later, if I go back to RUclips, I need to look for your video again, because it doesn't always remember where I left off. It's a shame that something like this could be hurting your stats.
This video was in my recommended list, but I typically don’t watch food based videos. However I experienced the same issues on Instagram, Facebook, and tick tok. I was a successful tattooer for 27 years and finally opened my own studio at the start of the pandemic. My content interaction tanked and Google searches were leaving me out after being the number one search result for my area for over a year. I lost everything and closed my studio August 31, 2022. I wish you the best.
It also helps for people to comment more than 3 words on your video. It boosts the algorithm and also helps when you respond to your commenters and view a video from their page. With 979k subs it’s impossible to respond to them all however developing a partnership with another RUclipsr or social media where you post links to each others content. Or just make your own account to act as a link partner.
I attended a seminar at a tattoo convention on this subject. It’s disgusting how easy it is to lose your hard work because you don’t know how to “play” the algorithm.

Vito, first of all thank you for having this channel and sharing the passion and the knowledge. You said that people don't go to google search and watch your videos, but this is exactly what I do sometimes to get back to your old videos to remind myself some details that I forgot or didn't write down in my recipe handbook. In this case I very often watch only parts of the video that I need at that time, I am not sure if this type of activity is causing the issue but maybe it will help you find the reason why this is happening.

One suggestion for a video you have never done is a 'real' same day pizza where you start the poolish in the morning and don't refrigerate it. That would be very useful for me and others who can't always plan in advance!

Vito I think part of the issue is that people are being trained to watch short form content. People are so used to watching RUclips shorts and Tik tok videos that are super short.
Anything longer than a minute and they stop watching. I think the videos people need, like rewatching the dough recipe, is what people watch all the way through.
I think perhaps you need to reach out to some other content creators and see how they are battling this or even how they are using it to their advantage. For example you could use some old interesting clips as video shorts and then say click for the full video when it starts to get interesting. I’m not a content creator but like I said reach out to some popular RUclipsrs and see what they are doing.

The cookies they use seem to be weighed to the last watched content of the user. If I look up content about another theme I only get suggestions and notifications about that theme. Recently I searched for a recipe (not even pizza) after not having watched cooking videos for a long time, and then you popped back in my feed and notifications. I was so happy to be reminded of your channel. You taught me to make pizza dough 2 years ago, and I rewatched it all and made pizza again. The kids loved it. Your channel is great ❤ I hope you can keep doing what you're doing
