Welcome back lowkey. The OH level stands for Overhead microphone level. The overhead mic basically captures the room noise of the drumkit. Hope this helps.

@ImLowKey I'm a second this, but expand on it a little. See, it's not as simple as that. Overheads capture the initial reverberation coming from above the drum kit (hence the term overheads) - it doesn't matter so much what type of space you're in, whereas room mics capture the room reverb like @ProdbyCaponi mentioned. It's easy to mistake what each of these are.
No OHs, no cymbals
I love AD2. The customizability is insane. The routing capability makes for much easier mixing. The automation possibilities when matched with Live's Envelope Follower, Expression Control, and LFO can lead to some wild results.
Your sample pack looks like it's gonna be great too, judging by what you've shown here.

i have been using it for 10 years in real songs that are out there, i really am addicted to this drum VST, when well tweaked you get the sound of a real drummer, even with the option of randomly making small or big tempo mistakes that makes it feel more real somehow instead of being 100% in tempo, the control you have over each piece of the kit is amazing, in cubase i use to give a dedicated track to HH, Bass drum. snare, cymbals, room sound, overheads etc.. so you can EQ it properly and give the right compressors or reverbs despite being already in addicted drums itself, great choice man, you will need more kits tho because you have kits that are played by famous drummers that sound live and good as a real human. cheers from Portugal
PS check on YT how to give a dedicated track in your daw for each piece of the kit, is very simple and will free you to do a better sound.
- NoAlts just turns off round robin. Sometimes you want to have same kick repeating every time but on hihat it will sound robotic. Perfect example of drums without round robin is Portishead - Machine gun
- With OH level and Room level knobs you just pick amount that is sending to OH and ROOM buses inside plugin. Normallly you can’t decide what amount of bleed thru different mics you will get when recording real drum kit. You will hear kick on every mic. With gate and eq you can try to remove it
- Those faders above OH Level and ROOM level knobs is just pan and width of overheads and room level that you are sending. Normally when you record a drum kit on stereo pair overhead mics every drum have it’s own position. Hihat is standing more towards left, floor tom is closer to the right mic etc. You can add each individual drum mic with faders to overheads and match position their positions. You can mono OH and ROOM to make it sound vintage
- Tone designer remove or boost resonant frequencies. Every drum have individual resonances. For example you can remove some harsh frequencies from hihat with it
- Beater/Front fader choose proportion of one mic that was placed on beater side and second that was placed on the oposite side. In the middle you hear two mics. Same thing with snare but you have top and bottom microphones. Snare buzz is tightness of wires inside a snare drum. When wires are loose they are „buzzin” when different drums play like toms or kick
- With OH and ROOM buses faders you can control amount of overhead and room mics. For dry sound you can mute those two busses and just use volume fader of individual drums to find proportions that you want. Without OH bus you will not get any cymbals and ride because they were recorded just with overhead and room mics

Cordon, welcome back! it’s great to see this! As I am planning to invest in a drum VST such as this one and I trust your opinion a lot, could you help me in picking the one that will help me in most production scenarios: Vintage Drums 2 vs. Tympo? Which one would you pick if you have only one option?
Hey @Bati_ it's good to be back! Tympo and Addictive Drums 2 are both great plugins. Tympo is nice if you want drums that already sound dirty and has a lot of grit, where as Addictive Drums 2 is good for dirty drums but also for ultra realistic clean drums. If I had to choose one it'd be AD2 because of how diverse it is! (AD2 is a little more expensive than Tympo, but I think its well worth the price if you learn ow to use it properly / both are currently on sale btw)

Lowkey, have you found a way to reduce the size of the AD2 window in your DAW? I don’t have enuf room to drag a beat from AD2 and have the track be visible to drag into. Thanks. Nice video !
On AD2 there should be a “UI Scaling & Settings” tab where you can change the size
This sounds superb, it’s all new to me, I heard of it but brushed it off…. I’m gonna guess , Alternate Samples is the ‘round robin’ samples ( extra samples , that are recorded also with different velocities, that help make the instrument sound and respond naturally, as their various ‘ alternate’ sample hits ) , otherwise the whole sound of the kit would sound ROBOTIC 🤖 with no subtle differences in the tone of sound .
