Give D’Angelo a shot man, he’s basically the full template that DJ Harrison borrowed from. Also if you wanna bump more JD, he plays a ton with a dude called Jon Bap, his albums have really weird live drum pockets sometimes played by him, sometimes jazz drummers like JD. And the guitar stuff he plays is incredibly swaggy too. He might influence your guitar style somewhat.

I’d say really figure out the guitar behind you actually. Once you have a good grasp on that you can buy a bass guitar and hit the ground running because it’s more or less the same instrument. With maybe just some changes to how you apply playing technique. I spent like a year with the guitar before getting a bass and I used that thing to make something the same day I got it. You’ll be stronger producer for it.

the UAD DBX is maybe 20% better and more accurate, you wont hear at first but once you have it on a track you will notice its effect after a minute, its good just to add dimensional colouring too cause most plugins become static when you add too many of the same ones., causing weird results
