The bank map is also a playable heist in Payday 2 called GO bank and you were even able to find masks of the Payday Crew but they were removed around 2017.
aww whyd csgo remove the maps? I thought the pd2 guys had good ties with valve with their iirc tf2 x payday shit

4:10 just for the people who are newer and interested - it was not only the beta version, hostages followed the player until later in the game. when agency got into CSGO with operation bravo the map was like that. Every hostage map had 4 and you needed to bring them all to the zone for the objective round win

The csgo dungeon files blows my mind and hope they give that idea a second look. I would love to see an csgo rpg solo/co-op.

Good video! My feedback is that you gotta slow down. You’re cutting sentences in front of sentences like a machine gun. You have to do pauses or put more space between sentences. Makes the video way more smoother

4:48 In terms of CSGO being connected to left 4 dead, I never thought of it this way. In my memory, while CSGO *is* using the ancient source engine, it actually saw a major overhaul in starting with TF2 / L4D1 / L4D2. I don't know the technical stuff, but as a player I observed that the engine saw improved graphics and textures, improved movement (no longer slippery), and overall does not feel familiar to the Half life 2 days anymore.
This improved version of the source engine would later then become used in L4D2, portal 2, and CSGO. It would also probably explain the scar H being in CSGO, because I remember it's the same weapon model used in L4D2, and the locations were just reused / refreshed assets from the development of L4D2. Pretty lazy from the devs if you ask me, but I guess they just needed to create more content to release for CSGO.

0:23 - Dust 3 exists, from the creator as a tie in to a PC Gamer magazine about map making.
3:22 - I don't think ancient's a remake of aztec but takes most of its design from aztec as inspiration. The layouts aren't close at all, but it's reasonable to think of it as aztec's replacement.

0:23 is correct as the maker of de_dust named what is now de_dust2 "de_dust3" because he thought that he could never replicate the popularity of de_dust with a sequel and didnt see de_dust2 as a sequel in his eyes, eventually he was convinced by someone else (?) to just release it as de_dust2 and well its fuckin de_dust2
ancient started out as a remake of aztec, but the devs scrapped it because the layout wasnt salvageable. almost all ancient assets are called hr_aztec in the games files
If you do part 3, bring up all voice chat between half and after game. Basically the only time you could talk in voice chat with the enemy team. Hilarious. They patched it maybe 2016-17

Fun fact: bank from csgo is actually the location of a heist in payday 2. The mission is called go bank.
The CS:GO Source 2 rumours have literally changed my life. This is no joke.
A few weeks ago, I was in a really dark place. Then, one fateful night, my friend asked me: “How would you react if the Source 2 update dropped tomorrow?”.
For the rest of the night I was shook. I truly believed that if that update had dropped the next day, I would have died of excitement.
Not joking. I don’t think my weak body that is not used to work, stress or even sport could have handled the update.
I think I would have died of shock or a heart attack if the source 2 update came out back then.
This motivated me. I do a lot of sport since then, started going to bed at reasonable times and waking up in the morning again.
I eat healthily now and I have decided to quit university, because I cannot have something in my life that stresses me when the update drops.
I think I am ready for Source 2 now.
Bring it on Mr. Newell. I am ready when you are.

Dust 2 was originally called Dust 3 because the creator of Dust thought that a sequel had no chance of being better than the original, so he called it Dust 3 since the third installation of most movie franchises are known to be worse than the first

Console CS:GO never updated, because Microsoft and Sony charge developers for pushing updates. So, they abandoned it.

At 6:10 the entry talking about valve not being the ones making CSGO is probably actually referencing the fact that counterstrike was a free mod for half-life 1 that valve purchased and released almost verbatim as a game. They didn't change anything because the game has been perfect since the start.

dust 3 actually was a map and being worked on, it is playable but it is just like an extremely early prototype that was scrapped fast.
Referring to 0:23, did you know that in the CSS leak there is a map called dust 3? It does have very simple geometry, but it's interesting nonetheless.
5:10 To clear this up: L4D2 and CS:GO were made around the same time, so a lot of assets from one game were either flipped or reused for another
i would have liked this to have some pro stuff, maybe make a esport/pro only one? forsaking hacking, flusha rumors, KNG "prove it or i'll kill you", hunting for FNS in the halls of a hotel lol. Many many others as well
