@Siscon92 it's because before Rajan Bal in Indianapolis, people weren't using it to its potential in pre regional tournaments. Miraidon wasn't even making top cut during that time.

To add even more irony to this, Co commentator for this match, Rosemary Kelly once called Miraidon overated before the regulation first started. (She of course corrected herself after Indianapolis.) Talk about Irony. Congrats to the Goat!
To be fair, farigiraf was on point in game two: Caly ice survived foulplay thanks to the pollen puff used by Amongous who survived via low damage roll. Without the healing of pollen puff, foul play would have killed Caly

Luca's Game 3 is easily the absolute best VGC performance I've ever seen, the dude is two steps ahead since turn 1, It feels like watching Wolfe in his prime and on steroids playing against a newcomer. Congrats to both players!
Correct me if I’m wrong but the match up was heavily against Yuta no? nothing to abuse trick room slower than Luca’s Iron Hands, no intimidate Pokémon on Luca’s side to make use of Yuta’s Caly’s item, electric terrain so no spores from Amoonguss. The fact that he even took 1 game says a lot about his level.
@wastedninjadude The choice scarf Lando and Speed Booster Iron Valiant spells big problems for Miraidon no matter the Tera since both outspeed. Iron Hands and Calyrex Ice have around the same base stat at 50. Which means either Iron Hands won the speed tie, or Luca negative EV'd Hands speed to just outspeed Ice Rider in trick room. Yuta would have no way of guessing that so it was a toss up heading into the match. Yuta actually had the advantage. In game one, had he sandsear stormed, he would of gotten significant damage onto both the urshifu and the Irons that came in. Iron Valiant could of attacked Urshifu and the game would instantly been over. Yuta had all the matchup capabilities into Luca's team. He just made bad reads and Luca took advantage.
Iron hands won worlds last year when it basically had an useless ability. Most mons are dependent on abilities but iron hands was so good without its ability. Miraidon enables Iron hands even further

@@YoJoRockThaBeat The problem with Booster Energy is that Flutter Mane must not switch out, or the stat boost will be lost. Calyrex-S while holding better item can switch out freely and come back later on advantageous scenario.

Probably would still lose. The flame masked Ogrepon will one hit the terra grass Pelipper (it's no longer water type defensively)
Ogerpon easily OHKO's the Pelipper afterwards but would've been neater ig
Also even if the Ogerpon died to Spirit Break by absolute magic, the Miraidon 1v1s the Pelipper even with Tera Grass (easily 2HKO's with the resisted hit and survives any hit IF it doesn't just OHKO the resist, which is very possible too) so the game was essentially checkmated by then.
@@shirohirukaActually, if the Iron Valiant hypothetically clicked Destiny Bond (though I think it didn't have it?) AND the Pelipper clicked Tailwind, Destiny Bond trades with Miraidon whereas Tailwind allows the Pelipper to outspeed the 40% HP Ogerpon
Then it would STILL have to land Hurricane because the rain stopping means Weather Ball is no longer Water-type, but I guess THAT was a winnable outcome, if the Valiant had the move at all.
