    Am spending time with one of your students, Lisa Sandton in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, at Southern Equestrian Riding School, I'm IMPRESSED by your video and what we've been told by her. My 15 year old Twin daughters Megan & Jessica Roberts ride there, are Top Academic Achievers & Jessica would love to pursue a Career in Veterinary Practice/Equestrian Science but financially this is out of our Reach. It is still amazing to see what is on offer for riders in America! Only in America :)

    Former William Woods College EQS Major here (1987-1990). My time in this program was SO special and unique. I worked a few equestrian jobs later on, and now I just enjoy riding my horse here in Rancho Mirage, CA. I decided to keep horses more as a hobby than as a career path, but I wouldn’t trade my time at WWC for anything. Made some great friends in Fulton and at Westminster too. I must say that it’s too bad they made William Woods Co-Ed. I enjoyed the tradition of it being a women’s college.
    I’m glad Missouri is still a red state, and I certainly hope WWU doesn’t become anything like Evergreen in Washington.
    I know MU has kind of gone that way. Once these schools become indoctrination centers for Marxists, it’s time to cut funding and close up shop.

    I can't wait, well I do want to complete a few goals and I'm only 13 but I will no doubt apply here. It's a amazing program because I love and ride all disciplines and plan to be a morgan trainer (plus saddlebreds or other breed if anyone wants me to) Gayle Lampe's book Riding for Sucess is the best book I've ever read. I'm hoping you can bring cats because I can't leave mine behind and I live in New Hampshire so, that wouldn't work.

      Hi there. Here's to advance planning! I told Gayle Lampe about your comment and she sends you a hug. At this point, you cannot bring cats, but that could change by the time you arrive. And we have plenty of barn cats on campus, so you won't get lonely.

  • @XxDreamRidexX
    @XxDreamRidexX 8 лет назад +3

    Hello, I was wondering if International students can apply (I'm from Europe) and if bringing your own horse is an option. Thank you so much!

    • @williamwoodsuniversity
      @williamwoodsuniversity  8 лет назад +2

      +XxDreamRidexX Hi. International students may apply for our equestrian program. Although some students have their horses boarded in the area, equestrian coursework is focused on using the 150+ horses that live on campus. Please email socialmedia@williamwoods.edu and I'll be happy to forward your message to the appropriate individuals on campus who are most informed. Thanks! -Scott

    Not sure if you'll see this comment, but I have a question. If you wanted to say, major in engineering, can you still ride at the barn? Or would you minor in EQS?

    • @williamwoodsuniversity
      @williamwoodsuniversity  8 лет назад

      +Olivia Boyd Hi, Olivia. Many of our students do dual majors or do a major/minor combination with equestrian degrees and other degrees. I would suggest you reach out via email and we can get into specifics of your situation. Email me at socialmedia@williamwoods.edu and I'll connect you to the appropriate people. Thanks! -Scott

    Are we gonna learn to tack and groom our horse?

  • @briannabrookshaw9318
    @briannabrookshaw9318 8 лет назад +1

    Why are the tails wrapped at the bottom?

    • @williamwoodsuniversity
      @williamwoodsuniversity  8 лет назад

      +Brianna Brookshaw Some disciplines (at WWU it’s western and saddle seat) work hard to maintain full and long tails for show purposes. If the tails are left out they can catch on buckets, feed boxes, etc. Our horses all have individual fans, so having the tails up isn’t an issue with flies or bugs. The tails are taken down, washed, conditioned, dried and braided and then wrapped up or put in tail socks. This happens anywhere from every other or every week depending on the horse.
      It’s a lot like keeping very long human hair in a braid to keep it from getting tangled and caught up on things in the environment.

    are there colt starting classes or similar classes offered??

    • @williamwoodsuniversity
      @williamwoodsuniversity  10 лет назад

      WWU's equestrian division chair says: "Yes. WWU offers young horse training and groundwork classes as well as integrating very green horses into our regular riding courses. We are in the middle of a groundwork class right now. Students are working with 10 colts on groundwork and introduction to tack." You can request WWU information here, if you are considering enrolling. williamwoods.edu/request_information/

      William Woods University :) I'm wondering about the ages of the students. Do you have adult students, who want to study for a new career? Someone who is in their 30's/ 40's?

    • @williamwoodsuniversity
      @williamwoodsuniversity  9 лет назад

      We have enrolled students across many age groups. For example, Debbie Thomas, who is featured in this news piece: news.williamwoods.edu/index.php/wwu-to-award-first-m-ed-s-in-equestrian-education-dec-13/
