Birds singing at 28:34, just after the fortissimo, as if to induce the light playing that follows... Surreal moment for a magnificent, straight-forward and energic interpretation. Really liked it

Amazing performance from 1968. Wonderful that Maurizio Pollini and Zubin Mehta are still performing 52 years later. Saw Pollini for first time in New York about 4 years in a wonderful recital of Beethoven sonatas. It was brilliant as was this 2nd Concerto of Chopin

I heard him play this live with the Philharmonia Orchestra in London and it was magical! I don’t remember the year just now but I would say late ‘80’s to early ‘90’s.

I was totally in love to his interpretation of the 1. piano concerto. I didn't know that he recorded also the 2. piano concerto. This video is a treasure, thanks a lot.

Emerging from his post-competition semi-sabbatical and clearly at odds with the languishing way this concerto was usually played, Pollini and Mehta dash through it , making this very much the music of a young composer on the make. Even the paean to Chopin’s first love is dry eyed. I find Pollini more persuasive in the E minor concerto and particularly a 1988 live performance on RUclips, which for me eclipses the famous 1960 recording. Pollini was supposed to have grown glacial by 1988. Nonsense.

Pollini was brilliant but, whoever is the conductor, from my personal taste, too fast!

He is simply the best . Years pass on ... in the new century but nobody play transparent .. clear .. deep .. as him . He was my reference when I was student with15 .. and he still is with his 73 I think ... god bless you pollini . Many Lang Lang’s ..... has to learn how to respect the book . How to respect the composer .
