- In this crochet drawstring bag tutorial, I am going to show you how to crochet this dainty drawstring bag. The bag has got a round base, and it's easy to open and close with the drawstrings. Did I tell you that you can use this drawstring bag as a purse?

This yarn makes a beautiful bag to complement the interesting pattern.
Thank you. Not only was this quick, it was a lot of fun to work up as well
I finish the bag!!!! Yes, I was going to give it away but I'm keeping it for myself. Thank you very much
Well I think as it's Christmas you deserve it sunshyn387, thank you, Anja x
I crocheted my sister a little ponchette out of a number two weight yarn. I wanted to make a little bag similar to this so she could keep it safe in her briefcase 🥰.
Thank you Onya this will be perfect!!!

I have chainy cotton in my stash! Even though a 'spring ish' color, I am almost finished. Need to weave in ends. I added wooden beads only instead of tassels because I have so many beads lol! Will post on Facebook later on. I would like to make another in a darker color. Thank you, Anja for another bag and tutorial!!!
Sounds wonderful Josephine, can't wait to see the picture, Anja x

I originally got lost, too, but after rewatching, I frogged and redid this and it’s working out fine. Some of the instructions are a bit confusing but I figured it out. I love your designs.

Thank you so much. So very well explained. Waiting to make it
Most welcome, I hope you enjoy your project ulkashah2026, thank you, Anja x
Hope you don't mind my questions. Something I've noticed before and again in this tutorial is that you do two chains to represent a half-double AND two chains to represent a double (US terms). It's more common in the US for two chains to be used as half-doubles and three chains for doubles. Do you think it looks nicer to do it your way?
Hi Karen, yes, I prefer to use 2 chains because it doesn't give that unsightly bulge on the edge, looks much straighter and tidier, Anja x
@@OpheliaTalks Thank you for answering! That makes sense.
Lovely.
Thank you Ruth, Anja x
Chain spun is my favorite.
Thanks Midge, lovely colours they use, Anja x
@@OpheliaTalks Is that yarn available from you?
So cute, ❤😊
Thank you ayseyurdanurozaydn9721, Anja x
1:41 I’m going to make 2 for Easter baskets for granddaughters
What a great idea Kimberley, Anja x
Gorgeous thank you ,what are the measurements of the bag please and thank you
I'm about halfway through watching. I will probably just need to rewatch, but it seems like sometimes the beginning chain of the round counts as a stitch and other times not? Maybe I'm just tired.🤔🤪 It's a very pretty bag!
I noticed the same thing. It counts as one but then gets ignored. 🤔
What yarn wieght is this? I love it, so beautiful 💕💕
Chainy is a DK/3 weight yarn Amber, thank you. Anja x
I love it! Thanks for sharing! Where can I find that yarn?
Never mind! I found it! 😃
Thank you Kelly, glad you found the yarn, enjoy your project, Anja x
🖤
So I want to make my bag larger do I continue to increase the rounds and does it affect the rest of the patterns for the bag?
Sorry for the late reply, yes continue with the rounds and increase with each round, good luck, Anja x
I just finished the main portion of the bag and so far it’s been really fun, some parts were a little confusing but I was able to figure it out. The link to the pattern in the description is broken, so that was a little annoying to find.
Thank you for letting me know, I have been and sorted out the correct link, sorry for your inconvenience pfishguy, thank you for your patience, Anja x

Hi, I love the tutorial! However I can't find this yarn in the U.S. and it would cost me $45 just to ship from the U.K. plus the cost of the yarn, so that's not doable for me. I tried to find a yarn substitution on yarnsub, but it doesn't recognize this yarn, for some reason. Could you recommend a yarn I could use? Also, the description of the yarn says it's lightweight, but where I'm finding it, it says bulky. Can you please clarify? Are there two different versions of this yarn? I really would like to make it, but need to find a yarn that will "make the bag stand up", as you say. Thanks!
It's just £13 to ship it from the UK to the USA up to 2kg fully tracked service from our website: www.opheliatalkscrochet.com/retwisst-chainy-cotton-cakes Have a look.
Don't forget KentuckyWoman2 I do a live video every Sunday at 20.30 UK time, be there for live interaction with me! Thank you for watching and keep crocheting! Anja x
What if I wanted to make it bigger? Would I follow the pattern for increase and then otherwise follow the pattern as usual?
Yes LunaMoons exactly that, have fun. Thank you, Anja x
what a nice bag crochet! could you tell me how the size of the bag?
@thuytrieu2462 the sizing is in the video, please watch for details, thank you, Anja x

I decided to give up on this halfway. Your instructions are way too confusing :(
Oh dear Lea, please do try again, maybe slow the video down and pause it so you can follow me step by step!! Thank you, Anja x
