Chroma does very well as a direct modulator for a dedicated piece of hardware, especially those that provide a single sound, or for mixed sounds that you want to squish together into a single 'thing.' It has some limitations as a send effect in the studio, but is still fun that way in a live setting.
This is such a great video about a great pedal. Thanks for sharing your process! I’m really excited to play with this and my 414mkii. There are so many things I love about the Chroma Console but one of my favorites is the ability to route the effects blocks independently. Hologram Electronics if you’re listening the ability to do parallel routing would be amazing to see in a firmware update.
@@ukiemexican yes, I’d like to. It’s such a deep device, I want to spend some more time with it before I talk about it. And I was thinking I might make a preset pack as well. There’s so much you can do with it.
@@BlankFor_ms yes and yes!!! I’ve had mine for about 6 months and still think I’m barely a scratching the surface with it. I love the idea of a preset pack and would def be interested. I don’t know of many folks out there sharing presets for the AH at all
Great sounds! I totally forgot this could even record, that's the next thing I'm going to try, although it looks like you were recording the knob movements, while there is also a looper I haven't even gotten to either using the footswitch on top of that. Phaser is good at slowest speed (I wish they had a slower option) for shoegaze or vaporwave type modulation. Broken is great, it has a breaking down of equipment failure type sound that can be useful. Collage introduces different speed delays, especially with knob movement. Also, the secondary function on movement and diffusion all have a "drift" adjustment to make them even more unstable. They packed a lot in here, you should (and probably have) check it out on a clean signal, and it really results in more analog than digital sounds in almost all of the FX.
You are making me miss mine. Probably more related to your music skills and less so to the pedal. I found the effects a little characterless. They were solid but nothing felt that unique. But I did forget about the automation record feature
Tell us more about that tape player! Are those knobs on the top functional??? I thinking found the GPO model online but it looks way more barebones then yours
Omg thank you so much! Subscribed so I get notified of when you drop the next video, and I’m checking out their Etsy shop now. I had no idea there were people out there modding tape players! #newRabbitHoleUnlocked 😂
yeah, there are great pedals that really lend themselves well to sound design, but really aren't so ideal when it comes to performing live, and it's good to understand that distinction.
On the flip side, for something like a fuzzy bass or guitar, Tame Impala style, this would be a good all in one for a lot of different sounds, you could probably record a whole album with it and then play it live using the same presets.
do you like that GPO cassette player? it has terrible reviews online. great video! def gonna nab a chroma at some point!
Was earlier looking at how this pedal can fit into a more ambient setup, found nothing but this just showed up on my feed!
Damn, we didnt realise how bad we need a Chroma until now....
Loving these new videos man!
Thanks so much!

Great video - agree it works very well in a live situation at the end of the chain.
Thanks 🙏 just got one, im going to try some of this!

@@saggygnaw that’s a great idea. Also it would be amazing if you could replace modules with other modules, two reverbs in a row for example.
