  • Bonanza - Episode 41 - Breed of Violence - Dolly Kincaid so feed up with her extremely dominant, controlling, sheriff father, that she runs away with her boyfriend.
    Breed of Violence
Director: John Florea (as Johnny Florea)
    Writer: David Lang
Stars: Michael Landon, Lorne Greene, Pernell Roberts
    Genre: Western
    Country: USA
    Language: English
Release Date: 5 November 1960 USA
Filming Locations: Paramount Studios - 5555 Melrose Avenue, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA
    Storyline:
To escape her strict and oppressive father Sheriff Kincaid (Val Avery), headstrong Dolly (Myrna Fahey) rebelliously courts disaster by associating with disreputable men. On this occasion, Dolly skips town with rakishly charming Vince Dagen (John Ericson), blissfully unaware that Vince is an outlaw. Joe Cartwright tries to catch up with the fleeing couple before Dolly suffers the consequences of her defiance. Also appearing are Hal Baylor as Clegg and Norm Alden as Poke. Written on rottentomatoes.com
    Reviews:
"This Bonanza episode concerns Little Joe and quite frankly he should have minded his own business when he saw John Ericson getting a bit rough with sheriff's daughter Myrna Fahey. Fahey and her father tell Michael Landon to butt out, although sheriff Val Avery is not real happy about Myrna keeping company with Ericson. As for Landon, the Cartwrights fired Ericson some months back when they caught him stealing.
Now Ericson's stealing in a bigger way. He and a gang rob a bank and kill a teller, but Ericson persuades Fahey to run away with him figuring that she'll be a good hostage if necessary.
In the meantime both Dan Blocker and Michael Landon meet up with Ericson and Fahey up in a remote mountain cabin where the resident trapper is killed and the gang is hiding from a posse. It takes a bit of doing before Fahey realizes what a bottom feeder she's run away with.
Although quite frankly Landon is thinking with his male member, it all works out in the end. Myrna Fahey was one of the most beautiful women ever on the big or small screen so who could blame him.
Cartwright fans should like this one." Written by bkoganbing on IMDb.com
"A woman and Joe. What does that spell? TROUBLE! Yep, anytime an episode starts with Joe rescuing a woman in distress, we know there's gonna be big trouble! But this time Joe is not as heavily involved. He rescues Dolly from a drunk Vince, who is a bad boy. But he can't rescue her from her father, the town sheriff who is over-bearing and over- protective. So she finally runs away...with Vince!
See the problem yet? Oh, did I mention that Joe and Hoss are going up into the hills to catch wolves that have been after their cattle? Or did I mention that Vince is actually one of of four men who...Well, I'll leave that for entertainment!
Not much romance in this one. We have a woman who's trying to decide which side of the law she belongs on while involved with the gang and Little Joe and Hoss.
The ending is a bit confusing. I think I got the number of dead correct, but I can't be sure (one was someone killed off-camera).
Dead: 5" Written by mitchrmp on IMDb.com

Nah, as much as i like Ben Cartright, Charles Ingalls was the better Pa imo. Maybe it's just because Little Farm on the Prairie was much less violent than Bonanza, but i like the little Farmer much more than the big Rancher.

I was a few years too young to watch these classic T.V. Westerns that came out in the 50s and 60s... Now as I am older, I am watching all of the Bonanza episodes on RUclips. I now understand why my father liked these shows - and Gunsmoke and the Rifleman.

Yes the moral of those shows were strong family ties and love. Also depicted how doing right rank high above doing wrong. Having values make people better human beings and life worth living. These
shows were more than just shoot'em up bang bang.

Little Joe did his famous “Little Joe Cartwright body roll” at the end there. He did that in several episodes and no bullets can hit him when he does it. Always comes up fanning his six gun to full effect. Michael Landon used a 38 special handgun. He was really fast on the draw. No special effects needed on his draw.

Joe and his brothers used the Colt's 1873 single action in .44 cal.
Of course they were anachronistic in that regard.
A single-action (SA) trigger is the earliest and mechanically simplest of trigger types. It is called the "single-action" because it performs the single function of releasing the hammer/striker (and nothing else), while the hammer/striker must be cocked by separate means. Almost all single-shot and repeating long arms use this type of trigger.
