Present-day Germans would be wise to dispense with this seemingly ever-lingering WWII guilt for a few reasons: (i) Persistent narrative dogmas are such that essential facts are ignored: first, that the Germany of that time was effectively backed into a corner regarding its own best interests. This should not be forgotten. Neither should it now be the case that elite international Jewry circa early/mid 20th century be portrayed as completely blameless in the face of ensuing power struggles over European destiny which would reach a tragic culmination. There were conflicting agendas and interests on both sides set in high tension as times worsened. (ii) No small amount of injustice had been inflicted upon ethnic Germans from a variety of sources. Also, they were not unique in rationally seeking an upper hand in the face of intra-state ethnic conflict; this, history shows, nearly _always_ results when competing ethnically-based subgroups approach critical mass vis a vis a politically or cultural dominance. (iii) it should be remembered that pre-WWII visions of Zionism were typically _collaborative_ efforts, to a large extent, between elements of European Christians and Jews. These were in no small part seen as the most potentially viable solution to the perceived long-percolating conflict--and seen as largely irreconcilable--that elements of both sought to avoid. (But of course this gave rise to a new set of conflicts in Israel/Palestine). Ultimately, Germany should re-embrace a real sense of esteem for the beauty of its proud cultural tradition despite its tragedies. Signed, -also concerned from America.

Do we want to open each and every door for endless senseless violence under the disguise of resistance? Do we want to support self-centeredness, entitlement and victim mentality while blaming real victims and making their lives a living hell? I am not really seeing anybody speaking from an Israeli perspective on the matter so I'll just tell you what I think: Germany should do what is best for the interests of its own people, And I do believe it's unwavering support of Israel actually does promote its own people's interest, the best most recent example I can give for that would be the German acquisition of the Israeli anti ballistic missile system arrow 3. Here's what it means: Ballistic missiles maximize the possible damage they can create when carrying nuclear warheads. Russia has the highest amount of nukes of any country. Russia has been getting a little upity as of late. By 2025 Germany and anybody under its blanket of protection should at the very least be resistant to ballistic nuclear strikes. One of such allies is France. France has nuclear capabilities. Destruction is no longer mutually assured, and if Russia has just the slightest bit of common sense this should be internalized. Once again from an Israeli perspective I ain't asking for a "please and a thank you" but I think partnership for at least this reason alone from a German perspective is worthwhile.

I have a pretty singular view here: I live in Germany and consider the German "guilt" over the Holocaust to have run its due course and posit that it is being kept alive now to its own detriment. I think there are better, broader reasons to "support" Israel that Germans, if well reasoned, can avail themselves of much more legitimately than a sense of inherited guilt.
Well, it's in fact not about guilt but about a shared responsibility of humanity to implement and uphold human rights as much as possible. Guilt in general is not a very helpful concept, it tends to be harmful in most cases. So I think reminding people about why human dignity matters and giving historical examples (also from colonialism, slavery, any imperialism and authoritarianism) for its significance is important 👍 But please let's also talk about very practical facts - pragmatism doesn't necessarily mean it leads you astray from your ideals. Yes the mentality of their young men is truly what disturbs be I’m amazed at their lack of pride and weakness.
I accept that it will not end well, but for whom it will not end well for is what I'm worried about, as a concerned American.
@@misterx-gy3fg For everyone will not end well. P.S. The reason behind the reluctance of the authorities to hunt foreign crime is the same everywhere: demoralize the citizens, discredit the police and replace it with privatized police of paramilitary units. The companies hidden behind this agenda are the same that are supposed that fight social injustice. Just look at their investment portfolio.
Present-day Germans would be wise to dispense with this seemingly ever-lingering WWII guilt for a few reasons:
(i) Persistent narrative dogmas are such that essential facts are ignored: first, that the Germany of that time was effectively backed into a corner regarding its own best interests.
Check what happens in GB now, it sounds exactly the same, two tier policing and rules.
We have all felt Germany's support since Oct 7, and it has been one of the more hopeful elements of this terrible time.

Support Israel AT ALL COSTS
Well, I personally wouldn't make the costs the deciding factors per se ... I would rather look at what we want to achieve in the long run, what kind of world do we want to live in? An authoritarian one or one with human rights and the freedom of choice for the individual?
And what costs do we want to avoid? Do we want to open each and every door for endless senseless violence under the disguise of resistance? Do we want to support self-centeredness, entitlement and victim mentality while blaming real victims and making their lives a living hell? Do we want to give up human rights in order for either a very authoritarian version of socialism or an Islamic empire that only gives full rights to Muslims, a little bit of rights to Jews and Christians who accept this rule and their diminished rights and that finally gives no rights to everyone else (polytheists, animists, atheists) and especially no rights to everyone who opposes this Islamic state.

Germany remove the Nazi caliphate
Amazingly precise analysis
I am not really seeing anybody speaking from an Israeli perspective on the matter so I'll just tell you what I think:
Germany should do what is best for the interests of its own people, And I do believe it's unwavering support of Israel actually does promote its own people's interest, the best most recent example I can give for that would be the German acquisition of the Israeli anti ballistic missile system arrow 3.
Here's what it means:
Ballistic missiles maximize the possible damage they can create when carrying nuclear warheads.

Well researched and written account of where Germany is today and how it got there.
Absolutely correct
Well, it's in fact not about guilt but about a shared responsibility of humanity to implement and uphold human rights as much as possible. Guilt in general is not a very helpful concept, it tends to be harmful in most cases.
So I think reminding people about why human dignity matters and giving historical examples (also from colonialism, slavery, any imperialism and authoritarianism) for its significance is important 👍
But please let's also talk about very practical facts - pragmatism doesn't necessarily mean it leads you astray from your ideals. In this situation pragmatism leads me, as a German, to being even more loyal with Israel than ever before 💜 Since it would hurt us a lot more to abandon the only democratic partner in the Middle East ....
So I agree with you 100% 👍 Thank you for raising awareness 💜

In 1969 alone, 82 planes were hijacked worldwide by the KGB-financed PLO.[12]
Lt. General Ion Mihai Pacepa stated that operation "SIG" ("Zionist Governments"), devised in 1972, intended to turn the whole Islamic world against Israel and the United States. KGB Chairman Yuri Andropov allegedly explained to Pacepa that
a billion adversaries could inflict far greater damage on America than could a few millions. We needed to instill a Nazi-style hatred for the Jews throughout the Islamic world, and to turn this weapon of the emotions into a terrorist bloodbath against Israel and its main supporter, the United States[12]"
