I rewatched the 4 chances that fell to Maupay. Judged purely on that game, I honestly think people are being a bit harsh. One was a difficult chance he pulled just wide. Two from close range I'd credit the keeper with good saves and one other was another difficult chance that he fired at the keeper. For me, he looked far sharper than he did last season and looks capable of scoring.
I agree. And if we play like that week in week out we will be safe easily this year. Fulham showed absolutely nothing until they scored. I would rather we create chances like this game than create 1 chance and score. If you create enough chances the goals will start coming. Reading the comments it's like we played like Fulham or something. Fulham looked like relegation contenders on that performance not us. Early days but
The home form should be concerning because as you say Ped, it feels like it's just a rollover from last two seasons. Goodison was once a fortress even in days before we could spend big money, we always made games like today our bread and butter. Teams come here now and are disappointed if they don't win at Goodison, such a shame considering we are leaving the Grand Old Lady very soon.
I for one am sick to the back teeth of hearing about Calvert-Lewin. He is still being touted as a saviour - a legend waiting to come back and shoot us up the table. The lad is a croc and always will be. The reality is that the entire squad is very very average - at best. Mark my words, Dyche is taking us nowhere and will be sacked long before the season is over. This club will finally reap what it has sown for the past few years.
Listen lad if we bring in a winger and a striker with any kind of quality. Like the likes jack Harrison, at a miracle gnonto as well we’ll be sound. Trust the process n let dyche build us something to work off. We all know the squads not good enough but we still have time so believe n hope that the club bring in the players. It’s out of our hands
They have known we need a striker for longer than a year. Crap management. Fed up of the training videos showing the ball hitting the net but for real, they can’t do it. Tell you right now, dcl has gone and whilst Dyche is peddling this crap about dcl, it gives an excuse not to spend money. Stop hoping for dcl, the guy is done.
I’m all for Dyche wanting the players to be the fittest possible, BUT the coaches should be doing intensive shooting/finishing drills throughout the week.
@@theblues8840 I think the premier league is just a bit too quick for him right now. He may, one day gain that speed of thought , and I hope he does, because he clearly has talent.
Dyche must have seen that Maupay couldn't hit a barn door in the first half. Inexcusable to not make a change at half-time. In fact Maupay shouldn't be anywhere near a team sheet, just a transfer list. #Dychefail once again #Everton
How we can be starting the season with Keane and Maupay in the starting XI is an absolute disgrace. Anyone that thinks we are not in a relegation battle this year is deluding themselves. Team with almost zero outfield quality, poor manager, shameful chairman, ruinously bad owner.
No Wonder Braithwaite didn't want to come back I can't believe dyche has brought Keane back into the team ...I thought he learnt his lesson last season
Do we give Patterson a decent run in the team to learn, and improve or does Seamus come back. I imagine our Dino manager will stick Seamus back in. Look what he did with Keane, even though we have a young centre back who’s played in the Champions league and performed well last season in the Dutch league. I can see us playing the 2 pensioners in the full back positions, tug boat at the centre of defence.
I didn't fancy him to begin with, but who else have we got that can play in his position? I like Godfrey myself, he may not be a superstar, but you can't question his commitment.
Think the team actually looked like they were trying!..having said that,I thought Patterson did well, but he had hunger and wanted return passes when he first started with us..but now, thats probably been 'coached' out of him,as he doesn't go for the returns now(anyone notice this change?)..Maupay,did actually get in places and got chances which,Dyche will praise him for I bet!..Onana...hmmm not getting the best outa him yet! Garner...I like him! Very intelligent and promising👍think we should have thrown all our new lads on today..Chimitti & Danjuma on straight away and give Cannon a go!
Same as so many home games last season wasn't it? Chances going begging because our players are so timid in front of goal. I'll say it again, we need at least TWO strikers of experience to come before this window closes, be it Adams, Iheanacho, Daka whoever, just get people in that have half an ounce of know-how in front of goal.
Here we go again . If we concede it's game over . In over 50 years supporting Everton I've never known us carry so little threat in front of goal . We are a very painful watch
What about the shot from Mitrovic, stopped by the stuck out elbow........ and not even given a true look at...... Everton should have had 3 in the first half, the difference was Leno......... see you at the Cottage!!
Dcl said he is fit but manager rules him out even if he played 45 min he would of scored a few of them chances mopay missed Manager needs to look at himself he needs to stop beeing stubborn and playing the wrong players or he will ben sacked by December. We just need a manager who playes players on merit rather than who he has worked with from a previous club .
I don't agree with all the hate Maupay is getting. Is he the best striker ? NO. is he the best striker we can attract right now? 100% yes otherwise we would have another. He at least is looking sharper, getting chances.. Come on lads lets get behind the players no matter what. Do you think all the hate will make him a better or worse player... The current crop of players good enough or not are all we have so lets get behind them... COYB.
How on earth did Maupay ever convince anyone that he was good enough to be a professional footballer, how many guilt edged chances does he have to miss.!!
I think your assessment of dacoure chance is way off.....he has loads to do when he receives the ball...he takes two brilliant touches on the move to get him just het ahead of the defender but he's a bit far out still, so takes two more touches to get fully across his man and shoots...keeper great save. ...I'm not sure if he takes it on earlier at that pace he d do any better....he made that chance with great touches at pace
Doucoure isa mad enough player, hit and miss. And you never know what he will do but I enjoy watching him. He has an excitement factor, same as Gnonto and the more of the likes of him we have, the more goals in the future. Better than being a boring side like the past few years. The football under Lampard was especially embarrassing.
@@zzeezz100yeah he won't score them all. He will hopefully get a good 6+ and not get sent off too often. The players seemed pretty motivated to me and were decent overall.

There is no way that Everton goal should've been disallowed. Having said that, what a disappointing start for the Toffees, given the chances created.
Even ex-ref Mike Dean on Sky Sport said it was a good goal!
If Dyche thinks those 2 were the best choice we're in trouble. If he was right we're in even deeper shit.
Probably shouldn't of been disallowed but we are at home and should of easily won the game regardless.

Agree with your points about Onana, he should be dominating games like these. Not sure if it's confidence, cockiness or poor management
It’s ability mate, he’s not a Yaya Toure type player who dominates games. He’s not good enough to do that for us but then again which midfielder is?
