Flight 143 dropped by 1,500 meters, having flown 19 kilometers, that is, the aerodynamic quality was approximately 12. The dispatcher and co-pilot came to the conclusion that the altitude is not enough to plan to Winnipeg As a result, the co-pilot chose Gimli Air Base, where he had previously served, as the landing site.
