Hands down the best demo of a Stratocaster! He can sell a billion with this tiny demo. Unfortunately Fender doesn't get it. He's the only one who deserves a custom Fender Stratocaster in the current generation of players.
agreed!.. no complaints about other players gettin' fender signature models.. but philip is a true guitar hero like hendrix or stevie ray and we don't have a lot of those these days..i can't believe fender is not sponsoring him..wake up fender!!
@@Hugos_music_stuff I would love to buy a Phillip Sayce signature Strat any day because you know it would play like a dream and you know the pickups would scream when needed. His action is probably so spot for this type of playability and the runs he is able to pull off, you can’t play those with a guitar that isn’t set up perfectly. Phillip Sayce signature, a Strat that comes all beat up, vintage style would sell very well. I can’t believe he doesn’t have his own Strat. I would think he would be at the top of Fender’s list since he’s the real deal modern day guitar hero.
Preach. That little glissando run back down at 2:13. Guys clearly got some diverse ears and influences that aren't Blues. But through a smoking Fender Twin and it's the most refreshing Blues Rock I've ever heard.
I thought I was pretty good.. Now I see that I need to practice more.. The stuff he does.. It's like he's found new ways to play the pentatonic scale. I've never seen some off those licks, and they are in the most used guitar scale in the world. Insane.
This is Phil Sayce, he played with Jeff Healey. He is a monster. I challenge anyone who speaks negative of him to simply post a vid of you playing better. If you don't play, then SHUT UPPPPPPPPP!
The guy's awesome. He use to play at a sports bar called "Yesteryears" here in California. He gave me one of his large green picks, and I still use it.
dead on ,,,i love fast , and this guy pulls it perfectly , it so hard to get that tone i was blown away ,,he nails it ,,, sometime the heart wants fast go for it
This is like SRV, Hendrix, and Kenny Wayne decided they need to make a child. Then Malmsteen and Eric Johnson came by and joined in late in the process. And it's an awesome combination.
it´s not about what he´s playing, it´s about how he´s playing. Bonamassa has a complete different feeling, and Yngwie has none.. This guy blows my hat off...absolutely amazing!!
I should clarify, this isn't me :P Philip has played with Jeff Healey, Uncle Kracker, Melissa Etheridge... his new album is being produced by Eddie Kramer :)
@rikieII that strat found its way to Philip around '97. Didn't really have wear on it other than some armwear. It is amazing that he has played the guitar into that condition in just over 10 years. After seeing with live I understood the reason for it; he is the most "physical" player ever. Yes, even more so than Stevie :)
I've been a fan of Philip for years and after watching him play, his style is electrifying! However, I honestly think that one reason he hasn't reach the fame status he has, is because as a guitar player under a "blues band/blues rock" name he has a few too many frills. INCREDIBLE PLAYER! But I just think he plays more than the vast majority may want to hear from a bluesman.. Idk. What are you guys thoughts on it?
@giordashio Exactly. Soul and Technique is NOT mutually exclusive. It's just the amalgamation of both is so very, very, fucking, rare. And this guy has it. He is exactly where a post 80's shredding AND Hendrix/SRV playing could be. If this guy embraces his seasoned years, and rounds out his playing with some pick-less subtleties and phrasing like Beck has achieved with his ballads? Well, then I think he's got greatness in the palm of his hands - no amount of internet sniffling can stop that.
Stevie was the greatest guitar player of all times... untill I met Philip... this guy does things to my heart when playing that I cannot comprehend.. he just f*cks all the wannabe's up.. he's the real deal!!.. Philip rocks, period!
Im watching this because RICHARD MARX said the is a great guitarist.. RICHARD 'FREAKING' MARX himself!! I just went for his concert last nite, and boy can he play. Now if he says there's potential in Philip Fayce, i believe it. YNWA
Great guitarist would like to see him mix up the level of intensity a little bit slow the vibrato down once in awhile I don't know seems to be at the red line throughout the whole song

Well said.

Wow..
The chops of SRV and the feedback feel of Hendrix. Truly one of the best blues rock guitarists out there.
Seriously, this guy is one of the best guitarist in the world. He's a mixture of jazz, blues, prog, and so much more!
Preach.

Truly exiting and a lot more genuine than bonamassa
Roy Soljac bonamassa is the most overrated player ever
Leave it to guitarists to feel the need to talk shit and compare players. Idiots
"things guitar players wont say out loud"...."I need to practice more" SMH
In your opinion. I really like Sayce but those type comments are junior high schoolish!
To say that Bonamassa is overrated, let’s hear your play.
Randomly stumbled upon this guy in my Discover playlist on Spotify…and holy shit is this guy good. Makes awesome music too
Big giant Fender tone... Stevie Ray would be very proud of Phillips brilliant talent..

Actually this guy is way underrated IMO 5 stars!
I always seem to come back to this. It's really great. thnx Phil....
Tone is to die for. Sounds so raw!

Also toured with Melissa Etheridge.
*Honestly even as a guitar I don't think anyone would say anything negative about this dude's playing*

He is the best player I’ve ever seen in my life. Absolutely impeccable.
I saw him play at Grossman's in Toronto. Jeff Healey was also there listening. I think he was supporting this fellow. Great player.
loved it, whats it getting that tone,, it takes time with working with gear and playing
From Toronto to L.A. still kickin ass.
OPEN MIKE,Jeffs' listening.Fly on.
can't get enough of that stuff ! blows me away every time !

you are GUITAR GENIUS!
You leave me breathless....
WOW!
Killer playing. Nice tone. Very raw with sweetness to it. Did you use the Klon as a boost or did you get overdrive out of it?
Fantastic tone.. that Strat sounds so good! You play amazing too!
Philip is the man.
And a real nice guy too, I talked to him once.
What a talent.
Philip, you're hired. Report to work on Monday.

@Oudl3000 not sweep. Its a standard blues-lick that he pushes up the fretboard... really fast...
such intricate playing.
I should clarify, this isn't me :P
Philip has played with Jeff Healey, Uncle Kracker, Melissa Etheridge... his new album is being produced by Eddie Kramer :)
Fantastic good feeling, what kind of pedal and amp you use in this video, the pickup are stock Fender? ciao grazie

FUCK YEAH, just have seen him and his band live in austria at the bluesiana in velden! best gig i've ever seen in my life!!
Love to see Philip sayce and Kenny Wayne play together ;)
@PiToTheMoEy i think its a fender twin reverb, but he has a lot of pedals that he is using....
there's some eric johnson in there too
This guy is unbelievable.
Man, I like this shit, could listen to you for hours.
That is D tone! Fat and stratty!! Heavenly, superb!

Fantastic, I like it a loooot !!! incredible playing great feel, superb tecnique, what else? a great player for real :D
Holy Man, That was Brilliant !!!! what kind of Fender amp was that ?
Here i come to save the day The amp Phillips playing is a vintage late 60s drip edge fender twin reverb.. Aka silver face twin
PRE CBS FENDER It's actually a '68 drip edge Fender Super Reverb, but he isn't playing through it in this video.
Did anybody else notice he's not plugged into the Super Reverb in the background, and it's not turned on either. Wonder what amp we are hearing...
This is Ewan McGregor

That feedback at 1:37 is so AWESOME!
Please could you link the video of Phillip playing?
What Amp does he use?! Insane tone! And is the Strat a Ash body?
Fantastic!!!!

Damn! WTF did he put in his Cheerios!!!!!
thousands of dollars worth of hendrix-y gear and badass hendrix-y skills will get you that

What overdrive pedal do ya use? That tone is great
That fuzz sound around 1:48 is just awesome...the incredible Oxfuzz! ;-)
@scottymaxxx You're not the only one who comes back :p
That's a comment directed towards his sheer speed. He's got amazing technical capability that allows him to play very, very fast.
I wish I knew what amp he's playing in this video. the super reverb in the background isn't plugged in.
+libertyfalls That was a fuchs ods 100 ;)
+Music Boulevard how do you know?
+libertyfalls Sorry i posted with my work account lol
I read that somewhere from Philip ;)
+libertyfalls The super wasn t working properly for the interview
O my god! Incredible!
Great playing and brilliant tone, but it seems like it wasn't properly mic'd for the video
Holy Crap!! This guy blows my hat off...absolutely amazing!! greeting across the big lake ;)

incredible...
@thunderlizzard89 nope, it's just huge frets. something I need on my guitar.

great call on the EJ lick. I agree 100%. Kind of Cliffs style huh?
What amp are you Using Philip?
woah what kind of pickups are we hearing here?

Definitely SRV Influenced. What kind of Strat is that he is playing, an Amercian Strat?
+Angel Martinez '63 strat
