He's been letting me have the pick through his "vault", and he always gives me a good price. Plus he's got buddy who owns a toy shop that sells used and new stuff so luckily hasn't been TOO difficult to find them. Just still a lot to buy 😅

I really do wish that HASBRO would give DOC OCK bendy wire tentacles. In the comics, he walks around through the city on those. HASBRO’s BS excuses for why they can’t use bendy wire on him doesn’t fly with me, because they used it on the SCORPION a few years ago.

On my Green Goblin and hobgoblin I also use batarangs cuz he he they also use razor bats beside pumpkin bombs

I also would put some of Spidey's alternate costumes as honorable optional mentions. I always thought as a Spidey collector, you should have at least one other alternate suit since he is known to change things up when necesarry. That Retro Spidey Armor is a must have as well

Both Spider-Man games for the Playstation were awesome! Having Electro as the main villain for the sequel was surprising, but makes sense considering how powerful he is. He's one of my favorite retro figures. I use Storm's lightning bolts around his arms and legs (needed two Storm figures for that).
I did exactly the same with my bald electro! He looks great with the blue lightning!
I have gotten my dander up when they remake a figure like Baron Zemo, I just paid a ridiculous amount for on resale but since I'm trying to collect Spidey's rogues without going broke I'll take the hit if I get a Chameleon, Rhino, Lizard, etc for $20-30 and in style that matches the version I know. I respect the realism of those originals though. Damn Hasbro for making Venom and exclusive and creating false scarcity to the point that old version is cheaper on resale than the Retro. Is somebody at Hasbro making a killing on the resale market?
That's always the gamble. Buying a figure in the hope they're not just about to make a new one!

Righteous list, David! You know, these list would make great little books for fans and collectors. A nice, full body picture with some backstory included would make a good reference and read.

Funny thing about a lot of these villains is they were huuuuge peg warmers like 3-4 years ago, I have all of them (except Hobgoblin, who I happen to have always loved, wish Hasbro had just rereleased the first one instead of this new one), I’ve been a big Spider-Man fan since I was a kid so they were must have for me

I've started building a 90s X Force team. So far I have Cable, Boom Boom, Warpath and that terrible cannonball where it looks like he ate too much chili. I did a quick search and can get siryn, shatterstar, and domino relatively cheap (phew). They really need to release a Feral.....also is there anyone else on that team from the liefield era I'm forgetting? Should also get a deadpool Black Tom and Juggernaut while I'm at it.

Don’t know why I left it so late, I had the sandman baf in my basket so many times years ago when I first thought seriously about starting a Spider-Man collection and never pulled that trigger until recently ..... I missed getting the baf’s like lizard and sandman aswell as resisting other releases like, doc Oct, kraven, vulture, and even the second release carded Mysterio which were around for ages. Also very much liked the hydro man sculp and I always thought too it was very underrated, I now plan to hunt all these down eventually one day .... at least I know there all out there in the big world somewhere so I won’t have that question hanging as to whether they will get made or not!
I liked your list but I think Doctor doom needs to be in there my association with 80s Spider-Man cartoon series featured him a lot. Though he’s tied to fantastic 4, he came up against Spider-Man a lot. Also I was always holding out from collecting in the hope that a three pack Spider-Man and his amazing friends set would suffice my need to collect having resisted for so long but as it hasn’t yet..... I decided it’s just got to be Spider-Man as a focus to my marvel collection as nothing else quite hits the mark for me as much. So collecting spider villains will hopefully help me swerve away from collecting the likes of wolverine and the X-Men, fastastic 4, deadpool etc......

Great list! However, I think you forgot to add Morbius & Hammerhead. Both are major villains in the Spidey lore.

Good list. Long time comic book collector just getting into legends. There has been many iterations or phases of Peter Parker/Spider's life. One of them I like to call Iron Man Jr. or wealthy Peter Parker. There has always been contention on how Peter Parker should be handled, should he be a news reporter struggling or should he doing his science stuff and making money off it like Tony Stark?
Anyways looking at your list made me think the Sinister Syndicate aka Superior Spider-Foes (Female Beetle, Boomerang, Speed demon, Shocker etc) would have been perfect alongside characters like Silver Sable and Paladin for that period of Spider-man and although he's no longer wealthy would still like to see him in that sort of mercenary adventure. The Spider-Foes unlike the Six aren't necessarily evil and trying to kill him but rather just a bunch of dirt bags trying to make money. The Syndicate is similar to Flash's Rogues gallery. Also sort of like Villains that Tony Stark would fight considering their tech based but no one he'd take serious. Which again comes down to Peter being Iron man Jr.

However, I decided to rewatch this because I just bought and received the no way home green goblin and I just received hydroman today via ebay. I also bought Smyth last night, and im still waiting on the sandman baf i bought last week. Trying to see who I still need/want for my collection.
😢 sadly, one of my kids cut ✂️ 😪 chameleon's tie 👔 off 😠 😡. So now I'm going to have to buy a new body at least. Or maybe 🤔 I'll take his head off, and put him on someone else's body. My scarlet spiderman is missing one of his hoodie strings too.

I never understood why they did Gwen in the Retro instead of MJ in yellow sweater, blue jeans, and cowboy boots. I wasn't that big a fan of the Spiderman series, it was SO depressing but I don't remember Gwen showing up. I hope we get that version of MJ at some point.

My only issue with Kraven is the head, yeah. Though weirdly enough it's mainly the facial hair, I always see him in the Squirrel Girl goatee style...

But yeah, I agree with damn near all this even if I'm a bit more of a newer Spidey fan (which means I'd swap some figures out with Superior Spider-Man stuff.).
Though my 'ideal' image of a lot of characters is a lot more point-y and sharp, like a Green Goblin with the pumpkin belt buckle.
Oh and totally unrelated but, man we need a lot more street-level characters. Crooks and Civs etc.

Okay, some are on various teams so I am temporarily stealing them. Also using only what I have and what I consider Spider-Man villains. For example, I use Speed Demon as a Quicksilver villain. And even though he usually fights Spider-Man, to me, the Rhino is more a Hulk villain. I'm weird.

They all also fight spidey. Boomerang, Speed Demon and the New Beetle are in a group with other spidey villains in their own comic the Superior Foes of Spider-Man. And like he says in the video taskmaster is in a lot of modern spidey comics

I think a lot of folks scalped him off the shelves known he was going to be in high demand.
It’s hard to buy any Spidey figs now that don’t have that retro body mold. The new black suit Spidey as well as Ben aka Scarlet Spider. Ahhhh. Amazing. But the new retro carded Spidey 2099? Failure. Can’t wait for a brighter blue updated body mold on Miguel.

Dave, have you heard that Marvel will most likely be ending the Clone Saga the way the writers originally intended in a new ending storyline? Nobody really knows exactly what that is, but there’s been numerous endings speculated. I can’t believe that Disney told Sony that they could keep the Peter Parker Spider-Man rights. If Disney could have the rights for the Miles Morales character. So Marvel, MARVEL doesn’t have the movie rights for their #1 character that made Marvel Comics, well Marvel Comics.
I’ve read some many alternate endings. Marvel put out a comic 101 ways to end the clone saga. One of the stories actually involving Mephisto. We’ll see what happens!
