"But it has a problem. You are the DCMS." Problem found.
Also, the Wolfhound is primarily Lyran in design, with a little contribution from the Federated Suns for the Full-Head Ejection system.
Even without the Clan Invasion wrecking this thing however, I do not expect it would've lasted. It was made to counter one specific mech, and the flaws leave it up to question if it could even do that well. Rumors of sabotage fall flat, especially when one remembers their previous screw ups with the Daboku, a mech that could probably also get a place in this series, though that is mitigated by its salvation/successor as the Mauler.

Thanks for the watch! Phew for a moment there I thought you were going to diss my baby the mauler... But luckily wrong name so doesn't count 😄. It is a weird 'mech and I do prefer the wolfhound for several reasons. 1. Lighter 2. No ammo 3. No ammo and finally 4. No ammo but we shall see who is victorious on the battlefield

    I love the Wolf Trap.
Kurita: "We need to kill these damned Wolfhounds that keep massacring our light 'mech forces."
Engineer: "Coordinator, here is a 45-ton 'mech with the same amount of armor as the Wolfhound, a much more expensive and fragile engine, and ammunition-based main weaponry whose ammo stockpile can destroy it in a single strike if it takes as few as three consecutive hits from a Wolfhound in one side torso."
Kurita: "Congratulations, engineer, you have an opportunity to dine with your ancestors tonight."

Thanks for tuning in. I can see this happening and after playing a series of games against the wolfhound, I can say that, categorically, the wolf hound is the better mech!

That opening had me laughing so hard. Also 8 million isn't cheap for a 45 ton death trap. You can buy 2 1R Vindicators with change for one of these

Why attribute to Fedcom sabotage what combine carelessness can more than provide?
Though even before the Clans, it was a failure in being answer to fighting the Wolfhound. Heavier, more expensive, and ammunition reliant for 2/3 of its damage output. Not a total failure as it could still fight (especially if the ammo and engine were not touching), but for the specific role it was meant to fill, it was a failure.

We find your lack of faith disturbing, please stay where you are citizen. An ISF member will be with you shortly :-). Thanks for the listen and assessment. On paper it looks a mixed bag, I 'm dubious if it will outclass the Wolf Hound, the only hope is to get the little bugger to overheat and keep peppering away with LBX (well that's the plan anyway!).

Just listened to the podcast & as Im sure others have or will say it's a mech that initially looks fantastic on paper, but that 11 points of armor protecting all the ammo & housing an XL makes me think it really needs ammo in the LT & find a way for a shield for the LA even if it means losing a med laser.

Its for those that wish to live dangerously... also if you are playing Stackpole rules that could be fun! I'll do my best when facing off against the Wolfhound. Range will be my friend I think

My only interaction with the Wolf Trap was in MW:2 Mercs when I saw it for sale but couldn’t afford it haha!
On paper I think the wolf trap wins by staying back and peppering the hound with LRM and LBX pellets hoping for a few head hits and a lucky consciousness roll.

@@battletopia the Wolf Trap has the range advantage, and you have equal speed. so I would see if you could hold open the range outside of nine you should be able to gun him down

    • @battletopia

@@lexington476 yeah kind of what I was thinking. Stay out of medium range if I can of large laser and wear him out. Always sound so simple but I bet my guy will trip on a root or something equally stupid

@@battletopia yeah we all know BattleTech games usually come down to range of three hexes by the third or fourth turn. But if you can stretch that out by one turn by not running in Leroy Jenkins style, it's worth a shot.

Ah, the Wolf Trap*. In its original configuration this Mech is emblematic of the sort of garbage designs DCMS collectors had to put up with over the years. Wolf Trap, No Dachi, Tai-sho and that 90-ton paper weight, the Mauler 1R.
*More like Trapped Wolf. In my gaming experience, these things almost always failed against the far superior Wolfhound they were intended to defeat.
    (Thanks for another entering video!)

  • @TheBloodedCat

Yeah, let's see the fight! Though my money is still on the wolfhound.
Also, wasn't the wolfhound a lyran mech and not so much a Davison one?

    • @battletopia

Thanks for watching. The battle is on its way. I have no idea how to do video but I will try! Yep Wolf Hound is a Lyran creation

@@battletopiarecording a fight can be tricky if you're not setup for it. If there is overhead lighting using the matte finished hex maps will reduce the glare, but besides that the Wolfhound should make quick work of the WFT (if the dice gods are with it) & if the WFT doesn't protect it's Right torso so we will just be happy to watch the duel.

  • @eezaak21

I think the Wolfhound would win. Wolf Trap has an XL engine and runs the risk of an ammo explosion. Wolfhound can take more of a beating.
