Looks so much better with the maps connected imo. If only this was existent in the actual game.

This is aweomse. If we ever get the remake that everyone wants (seriously why hasn't it happened yet) then this is how the map should be done. Don't split it up into levels, just have one big map with a day/night cycle. We can only hope.
I, for one, support our new one-map overlords.
So many fans want it remastered but unfortunately tapped out makes so much endless money for ea, that spending time and money on Simpsons hit and run wouldn't be financially as good as sticking with tapped out. However from a business perspective atleast EA can tell that they have a definite customer base so they don't need to worry about it not selling well.
Can this idea of connecting levels like this be put into the secret level after beating the main story?
I know it's an isolated incident and it's not exactly the same but they remastered the command and conquer series and I think it made them a bunch of money for weeks after it was on steams top 100 games for concurrent players probably still is.
@@ollyclass They also remastered battle for bikini bottom and that sold well. But unfortunately it's different when the company in question already has a cash farm doing Simpsons tapped out. Shame.

Is it possible to have a level 4, 5, and 6 version?
Probably. Colou could either just change the skybox, or take the three levels and connect them again, since those three do have some slight differences.
Colou mentioned that they are intending to make missions work with connected maps. So maybe they could make it so the level change depending on how far you are in the game.

One with the dusk skybox from Lisa's level would be cool too.
This was how the game was originally intended to be like but due to the hardware limitations at the time they decided to make the maps individual.
Then why does GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas have huge maps on the PS2 and Xbox?
@@ErichGrooms1 I'd say those games traded graphics for bigger maps, SHaR did the opposite.
While i don't like that it's also good because they are able to put more attention to detail on each map with no problem.
@@doctorscarf8958 true but luckily now we have this mod so we can have the best of both.
SHAR was always planned to have the levels be seperate, Road Rage was the one going to have the levels stitched up but due to Radical being given badly translated ps2 dev documents from Sony and trouble getting it running on ps2, it was cut.
Looks really cool! Even the pedestrians of each area are the respective ones! If only there was a way of doing the same for the vehicles that spawn.
maibe there is the Modders are soo good
I am sure it would be easier to just add all the vehicles to a combined pool. But it would be nice to have specialised ones yes

I made a video years ago involving a hypothetical mod concept which involves connecting the maps as one. Looks like my dreams have finally been fulfilled. Thank you, Colou.

The Simpsons Hit & Run devs don't realize that all levels can fit in one map and this mod proves it! Don't give me that "Hardware limitations" bullcrap, hey if GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas can do it on PS2 and Xbox, then so can Simpsons Hit & Run!
Main reason was probably their time limitations

This reminds me of the big springfield map that was on the Simpsons' game where you would get from mission to mission by walking, great work

I checked Donut team community page yesterday my dude, and someone its already making "SHaR Plus", a mod with This map, difficulty and missions, lets hope the modders support him and finish the mod quicker
I'd love it if there was more than one exit and entrance to each district, or if they made the connecting areas slightly longer so it feels more natural of a change from one area to the next, that's why the connecting piece between homers and Lisa's levels looks more natural that homers and Bart's. Other than that I love the work done on it so far.
I thought the connection between homers and Barts was the most natural, albeit the easiest to pull off, I couldn’t tell where each map stopped and started on the first view.
The one between Homer and Lisa probably the hardest to make I imagine, it’s really good up until you cross over the suicide bridge, where the terrain around the road is empty, no trees etc and you can see the void nothing to hide it, (not sure if that’s water, but it’d be a huge lake).
Whereas connection between Lisa and barts was pretty good but some areas on the border of Lisa’s map looked like they needed something adding, but the bridge really works well especially viewing from a distance. I’d really love to see a before and after.
I agree more connections between levels would be good, perhaps the tunnel in barts level could connect to Lisa’s. maybe some unavoidable limitations with the map layout but birds eye view would be interesting.
This is incredible, a long awaited wait I'm sure for some people. So awesome to see something that we should have got in the first place but didn't due to hardware limitations

I think an improvement would be regional traffic in the different areas that matches the traffic that appears in the levels that take place in them

It was not rushed, it was just so highly anticipated an difficult to make. Missions will come later on. This is here for a showcase.

This is absolutely amazing. Some additional improvements would be more cars, types of car available and an increase in how far they need to go to despawn

Astonishing! We would have absolutely done this on the original game if it was technically possible. Not enough memory on the PS2 and/or we didn't have time to write a full disc-streaming solution.

I hope that Colou ends up making a slightly edited version of this map for a few things.
1: To fix those annoying pot holes in level 2.
2: To fix AI pathfinding being able to access the new routes or unlocked paths/shortcuts.
Perhaps the AI runs a check at the start of every mission to see if X path is unlocked completely, and if it is, the AI will then opt to take it instead of the normal mission path. An example of this would be in a LiquidWifi livestream where he plays the Cops in Springfield mod (also made by Colou) where Moleman has to follow him to the rail yard but ends up getting 'stuck' in the shortcut, opting to try to follow him by going all the way around the highway instead of cutting through. And once Hans was pushed into the shortcut, he kept trying to turn around and pathfind back to the road he was on originally, despite how close he was to the exit of the other side.
Yeah I know the pot holes are part of the level design and if you don't want to drive over them you technically don't have to, but it would be nice to see a fixed road at some point. Besides if the AI is meant to try to take those roads more often or the traffic drives down them, it'd actually make the game harder with how much more diverse the traffic is in where it decides to go.

I hope the mod can keep that glitch where you could go out of bound's if you drive fast enough into that square on the right of the power plant entrance on the Halloween level

I've downloaded the main RAR file and I put it in the mod section of Lucas' Simpsons Hit and Run MODS. It isn't coming up . WHAT SHOULD I DO???

This is cool now it just needs some depth, like new missions that take advantage of the less restricted map.

Yeah, the creator of the mod is actually remaking some missions to take advantage of the other maps, they've already got a mod for Petty theft Homer that with you going into downtown Springfield
