This is aweomse. If we ever get the remake that everyone wants (seriously why hasn't it happened yet) then this is how the map should be done. Don't split it up into levels, just have one big map with a day/night cycle. We can only hope.
So many fans want it remastered but unfortunately tapped out makes so much endless money for ea, that spending time and money on Simpsons hit and run wouldn't be financially as good as sticking with tapped out. However from a business perspective atleast EA can tell that they have a definite customer base so they don't need to worry about it not selling well.
I know it's an isolated incident and it's not exactly the same but they remastered the command and conquer series and I think it made them a bunch of money for weeks after it was on steams top 100 games for concurrent players probably still is.

SHAR was always planned to have the levels be seperate, Road Rage was the one going to have the levels stitched up but due to Radical being given badly translated ps2 dev documents from Sony and trouble getting it running on ps2, it was cut.

Probably. Colou could either just change the skybox, or take the three levels and connect them again, since those three do have some slight differences.
Colou mentioned that they are intending to make missions work with connected maps. So maybe they could make it so the level change depending on how far you are in the game.
I checked Donut team community page yesterday my dude, and someone its already making "SHaR Plus", a mod with This map, difficulty and missions, lets hope the modders support him and finish the mod quicker

I'd love it if there was more than one exit and entrance to each district, or if they made the connecting areas slightly longer so it feels more natural of a change from one area to the next, that's why the connecting piece between homers and Lisa's levels looks more natural that homers and Bart's. Other than that I love the work done on it so far.

Astonishing! We would have absolutely done this on the original game if it was technically possible. Not enough memory on the PS2 and/or we didn't have time to write a full disc-streaming solution. Agree with what others say, now we need a full-map mission rescripting!
I hope that Colou ends up making a slightly edited version of this map for a few things. 1: To fix those annoying pot holes in level 2. 2: To fix AI pathfinding being able to access the new routes or unlocked paths/shortcuts. Perhaps the AI runs a check at the start of every mission to see if X path is unlocked completely, and if it is, the AI will then opt to take it instead of the normal mission path. An example of this would be in a LiquidWifi livestream where he plays the Cops in Springfield mod (also made by Colou) where Moleman has to follow him to the rail yard but ends up getting 'stuck' in the shortcut, opting to try to follow him by going all the way around the highway instead of cutting through. And once Hans was pushed into the shortcut, he kept trying to turn around and pathfind back to the road he was on originally, despite how close he was to the exit of the other side.
Yeah I know the pot holes are part of the level design and if you don't want to drive over them you technically don't have to, but it would be nice to see a fixed road at some point. Besides if the AI is meant to try to take those roads more often or the traffic drives down them, it'd actually make the game harder with how much more diverse the traffic is in where it decides to go.
I hope the mod can keep that glitch where you could go out of bound's if you drive fast enough into that square on the right of the power plant entrance on the Halloween level

Yeah, the creator of the mod is actually remaking some missions to take advantage of the other maps, they've already got a mod for Petty theft Homer that with you going into downtown Springfield

This was how the game was originally intended to be like but due to the hardware limitations at the time they decided to make the maps individual.

@@ErichGrooms1 I'd say those games traded graphics for bigger maps, SHaR did the opposite.
While i don't like that it's also good because they are able to put more attention to detail on each map with no problem.

Looks really cool! Even the pedestrians of each area are the respective ones! If only there was a way of doing the same for the vehicles that spawn.
