The music, the atmosphere, THE NOSTALGIA!
I just want gaming to go back to what it was. A bunch of nerds making games they thought were extremely fun, and following the philosophy that if you make a GREAT and FUN game, the MONEY would follow, rather than MONEY being what now rules the gaming world currently.

    • @kennethhernandez9243
      @kennethhernandez9243 8 дней назад

You were right on every point except the fact money rules the gaming world now- unless you mean the dei funding.
This year alone these companies probably lost close to a billion dollars.
I just want games to be games without the activism.
Baldurs Gate 3 proved you can have well written diverse characters without the artificial pandering.

Exodus made by Archetype Entertainment is on its way to fill the hole left by Mass Effect. Humanoid Origin is also making a sci-fi game. Both studios are spearheaded by Old Guard Bioware veterans. Hopefully, one, if not, both studios will make a fantasy(dark fantasy) IP to fill the hole left by Dragon Age Origins(and 2) at some point in the future.

When you play as a female city elf, you're actualy one of those women dragged into the castle and locked in a room to helplessly wait until the rotten nobles have their way with you. Such a defining moment in your character's life when she has to pick up a sword and fight for herself and the other women. DA:O was the first and I think the last time you could play a dual-wielding warrior. Good times. Now you can only play a rogue if you want to dual-wield in DA.
Also have you noticed how the whole 'elves are a mistreated race in Thedas' theme almost completely disipated over the years from DA games? It was actually what attracted me to play as an elf. I wanted to experience all the struggle.
The music in this game is amazing too. Still gives me goosebumps when I hear it. Inon Zur did such an awesome job.

I’ve just started my first playthrough. I never played Origins at the time and bounced off Inquisition early so never felt motivated to go back and try this before.
One thing i can thank all the Veilguard controversy for is that it prompted me to finally go back and start Origins. I’m really impressed with it so far - even more so considering its age - I’ve only got a little way in but I’m gripped by the story already.
I didn’t realise how different the origin stories are (I’m playing human noble warrior) so I probably shouldn’t watch the rest of this in case I want to play city elf in future 😊

When I played DAO for the second time but that time having read The Stolen Throne beforehand really made me see Loghain in a different light. I could really appreciate the character due to knowing the life of Loghain Mac Tir. I still executed him because even though if not for him Ferelden would still have been occupied by the Orlesian Empire, from the perspective of my Warden, he was not thinking straight and was letting his emotions stand in the way of dealing with the actual threat (the blight). Also, attempting several times to kill the Wardens did not really make him seem trustworthy.
The same thing happened for me when making the final decision for "Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts" in Inquisition. Reading the Masked Empire really gave me a whole new perspective on Celine, Briala and Gaspard and it really make me think hard before making the decision.
The world building that this franchise had done was phenomenal and it gave every next game such huge potential. Sad to see that potential gone to waste because some people had other priorities than brining this rich lore to life.

I don't know if you mod, but the absolute best mod for DA:O is called Slinks S3 Ravage. It's basically a random loot/encounter mod. It randomizes all the loot, and randomizes encounters. So any random encounter, could have an elite or an ogre or whatever in it. Or multiples. It can really crank the difficulty up, but it also massively freshens up replays.
The other thing I love about DA:O that Pillars of Eternity II also copied, was the AI scripting.
My last run through of DA:O, on one of the harder difficulty levels of the Ravager mod, I played the entire game with all companions running full AI scripts that I created. The only thing I really had to do for them, was move them around occasionally if they were standing in a bad location.
Sync'd up CC kill combos and stuff, all done automatically.
I REALLY miss this style of CRPG.

I'm currently playing this game again but this time on Linux via Steam. No 4GB patch and it runs flawlessly. Yes, the graphics are dated, but they still outdo the Pixar characters of Veilguard, (which I will not be going anywhere near). The story and dialogue are excellent in this game. A true RPG unlike most of the 'modern games'. That Veilguard claims to be an RPG without the ability to control your other party members nor choose 'bad' options is a massive own goal. Maybe there are still authentic RPG's out there, but they are few and far between. I like ( and own ) two Pathfinder games and of course Baldur's Gate III. I think I need to do more research to track other titles down. I'd revisit Mass Effect but even on Steam the EA app is required. That has put me off totally.

The inclusivity theme is done so bad in modern games.
They feel forced and lack immersion, so they end up doing absolutely nothing.
I'm all for raising awareness, but all modern games is doing is teaching common courtesy.
I think it's sad, as older games was not afraid to turn your best friend and companion on you with "dated" opinions, making you really pause and think.
I never get why some assume this is equal to promoting unwanted behavior. It is supposed to hit you hard and put you on the spot, then you choose the consequences.
Role playing as a Idiot in those games can often have some eye opening results.
