The only really disappointing part about the hardcore update was the fact that 1. Most of the tower back then got a huge rework to the point it’s not even useable at all (especially the John tower), 2. The removal of Golden mode and Plat crates, and finally 3. Which was that it was region locked when entering hardcore lobby (which they already change that so thank god). But now with the current TDS I am glad that they’re slowly coming back up where they used to be before the entire hardcore update that.
Also towers redesign removed personality for them and their skins. I was so sad when they removed wraiths mini p90s, toy minis dart animation or tweeter minis scars. Now towers are really good quality and I'm OK with changes but before they weren't that good IMO.
with the data migration issue i lost 3 golden towers, commando and gladiator. it was a horrible experience and i will never get those towers back without spending robux in the game (gtowers not included in that tho)
I think that this game could really use a big rebalancing update, especially with the modes and certain towers but it has definitely gotten a lot better since then.
In my honest opinion, I've watched the game grow since 2019. It's had ups and downs. But everything that happened after the Egg Hunt event just spiralled downhill. Nowadays, I don't get as much enthusiasm as I did before with TDS. Something has changed. It just isn't the same anymore. On another note, great video, it basically sums up the Hardcore Live update. I enjoyed it very much.
4:30 actually, the deluxe crate didnt exist yet, it was introduced on the final overhaul testings a few days before the update actually released, so yes they were on the right crates
The thing I don’t like about this update is all the features they removed. I was at the point where I could play hardcore but not good enough to beat it. I felt fallen became much harder and molten and normal were way too easy to beat. Since golden was gone it made it much worse. Also the delay was bad because of that I missed the live event but it didn’t seem too important anyway. Also I might’ve been bad because I didn’t use supports that often. And without accel, I lost Halloween 2020. But the toxic gunner wasn’t that good anyway. I think the game has gotten a lot better after that, but the overhaul update still has some lasting affects. For example, they can’t make normal easier or molten harder, golden is still gone and, hardcore has a way to early level to play. I think it should be around level 75 or 100 at this point. but they could always make hardcore easier because it’s stupid you pretty much need accel or engi to beat it which is silly, considering you get those from playing hardcore. Also outlaw is a better name than ranger
@purple_duck_bee I guess you’re right but they should definitely make hardcore early on easier maybe not having 3 shadow bosses on wave 25 or just making more money. Whatever it is, hardcore is unbalanced and accel is way to meta and barely obtainable unless you want to spend a lot of time grinding.
I will say that the Overhaul update was one of the bigger dissapointments I've ever witnessed. I was part of the live event, but the meteors did not fall down. Instead, the lobby floor just vanished. At least that's how I remember it happened to me. Plus, the game was not so kind to me as i was unable to play a single match in the new Beta form of the update. Not a regular match, not even Hardcore.
I gotta say that the update was a downfall at first but they reinstated it to somewhat ok. Great video but I have mainly one complaint besides from this fail of an update, the gems. The way gems are given when playing hardcore even to this day is pretty inconsistent especially when trying to buy the engineer. I feel like the devs should at least do something about that since most of us don't have the time to grind.
as stated in the video, the devs felt rushed by the community to get the update done. they had already delayed it once, so delaying it a second would probably have gotten them a significant amount of backlash. its unfortunate and i personally think they should have just delayed it, but i guess they didn't wanna kill the momentum they had and let down the community again. also, they didn't blame the community, at least not in the examples shown in the video. they themselves admitted that the game had "incomplete and broken features"

I remember being at the event and it sucked how tons of features were removed or changed. I ended up quitting the game for a good half a year with maybe a few rounds every couple weeks during it.

Another thing was the variety that the premium minigunner skins offered. Some skins used totally diferent weapons instead of the minigun. Now they just feel like NFTs
One thing that I would have loved to see for hardcore is a monthly changing or even seasonal type game mode (since realistically 1 month changes for game modes are hard), where every either 1, or 3 months they would change the wave structures, focusing on a certain gimmick. Double spawns but less hp, most enemies are flying, or metal, etc. With then changing the types of enemies that come out. Being a ever changing challenge other than events focusing on that idea. Every time it updated it would have brought back quite a bit of people to try the new seasonal or monthly challenge of what is hardcore mode.
The archer event was really hard as you didn’t get it by beating the event rather got tickets and had to pick the correct box (9-12) with rng deciding your fate. Kinda wish they gave back the holiday skin to ogs.
I had data migration issues too. My level was lower and I had fewer towers but interestingly, I somehow had the shotgunner tower (I didnt buy it before the event)

Tds generally doesn’t handle difficulty well, obviously normal mode is broken but it goes behind that. Molten mode is way too easy and the gap between it and fallen is massive, not to mention how most of the “skill” in this game is owning the best towers and having them shred everything effortlessly. Hardcore mode makes this even worse by forcing you to use towers with variety of detections in the early game, drastically reducing the usable tower selection, as for the late game of hardcore, the difficulty has shifted around a lot over the time and I think it’s in an acceptable spot right now, I think there are strategies that don’t require special towers to unlock but this wasn’t always the case. Overall: this game kinda sucks why do people (including me) still play it lol
I feel like this update ruined the previous charm and balancing that tds used to have. And while they have mostly recovered, many towers are still straight up unusable compared to their pre-overhaul versions, the skins are much less unique, and hardcore still has gotten little updates, for what they were considering to be the biggest part of the overhaul.

Designer and Creator of Accelerator Tower here. The update was a Hell of a clusterfuck as the developers lacked motivation and originality with the update ever since the release of... I think the event of when Lord Sinister was released. Did I like the update when they first released Hardcore? Well, yeah. I did. Because I wanted to see how the Accelerator Tower performed (Spoiler alert: it was okay, but Jesus Christ). The owner is devious, and it's apparent if you get to know him deeply. When I say the game and the devs begin to lack originality, I mean it. The reason why Golden Titan was removed is that the enemy and design were solely ripped from a famous non-ROBLOX game, Risk of Rain 2 (fun game, try it!), and the same for other enemies/bosses. Y'know, it's funny that to those who played Minecraft before, you damn know that he ripped the designs from other games and even the ideas from Tower Battles. I shit you not; Accelerator Tower was/is based on Phaser from Tower Battles with identical usage until it was just a "burst-damage Tower with a short cooldown." The developers and the owners seriously lack the ways and knowledge of entertaining the players now. It just makes me disappointed and sad to see how the game and the brain rot community have become. I doubt there is a way to redeem themselves after many TERRIBLE updates and changes. I like to thank you for this video; I just got tired and felt a little motivation to share this small portion of my rant about this game. Just because the game is so popular doesn't mean they have the right and power to change or take everything as part of their ownership.

ah..the 2020 TDS Hadcore update. So i was really confused when it came out (at the time i was around level 45 or so) and when i came out obviously, there was alot of bugs and all and i disliked the hardcore stuff and it made me quit tds, I eventually came back in the later half of 2021 but i don't love the game as much as i used to back in 2020, though, i will always remember the good times I had in 2020.
I started playing when the event was about to start, the only thing i remember was the amount of people that was playing,sadly i stopped playing before the event starts because i lost the acount.
this was solely the worst update i have ever experienced in my entire life. first, event towers. I managed to get shredder, holiday archer, frost blaster, and swarmer, which were all very useful before the update. then came along overhaul. slasher, the terrible version of shredder, frost blaster, just a freezer with more damage, archer, the failure that cant do a single thing, and swarmer, pyro with a worse DoT with less rate of fire and a mediocre ability. the only good pre-overhaul event tower at this point is Gladiator, which you had to participate and win in the very first event, or spend a ton of robux to get. and its not just slightly better, but its miles ahead of every other pre-overhaul event tower combined. second, hardcore towers. before the overhaul update, you could unlock meta towers just by having fun and playing the game. but what did below say to that? no no, we cant have that, lets make every other lategame tower absolute garbage and make the only good towers locked behind a wall of mind-numbing pain and santity diminishing mode. who would even use ranger or turret compared to Accelerator and Engineer? third, reworking absolutely every tower in the game. i remember using electroshocker and dj before the overhaul update, and they were very fun and unique. electroshocker was more of a damage tower than a support tower, with cool graphics. dj had cool visuals, especially at max. i never managed to get mortar and pursuit in pre-overhaul because my account got hacked when i was around level 91, and just a few days later, mortar came out. but mortar and pursuit were both worth level 75 and 100. but now, are they really? the latest update tds has got has made them certainly better, but they still arent what they were before the overhaul update. outlaw was extremely powerful with hidden detection at base and small spash damage, but ranger is just a useless version of it. i hope your opinion on the overhaul update is swayed with this.

It'd be cool to see the best TDS update ever, honestly, I'd say it was egg hunt 2020, considering that was when I started the game. I just remembered playing gold mode a lot, owning and using the John tower, and just generally enjoying the game more, mostly because it was more fun for me cause I was new.

So as someone that started playing at the beginning and getting archer and lazy couch, I’ve always hated hardcore so much that I didn’t grind for the accel, here I am level 142 and only NOW start grinding for the accel and I hate it, i just wish paradoxum had just a little bit more time to fix the event

sounds like a great idea ngl , the only thing id add to tht is change the inflation to like 20 -30% or hell make it scale every round up to like 50%

Y'know, it's funny that to those who played Minecraft before, you damn know that he ripped the designs from other games and even the ideas from Tower Battles. I shit you not; Accelerator Tower was/is based on Phaser from Tower Battles with identical usage until it was just a "burst-damage Tower with a short cooldown."
The developers and the owners seriously lack the ways and knowledge of entertaining the players now. It just makes me disappointed and sad to see how the game and the brain rot community have become. I doubt there is a way to redeem themselves after many TERRIBLE updates and changes.
I like to thank you for this video; I just got tired and felt a little motivation to share this small portion of my rant about this game.
Just because the game is so popular doesn't mean they have the right and power to change or take everything as part of their ownership.
Y’know, MASSIVE respect to you for actually speaking out about this. Below barely communicates with its fans and doesn’t tell us the full thing and usually when I say the same thing people just tell me that “I cant do better.” (Please, never use that argument, it’s not good and insanely overused.)
But yeah, I doubt tds is sadly gonna change in general, which really sucks and is honestly kind of sad, especially seeing a lot of games go down this same cycle.

i rlly hated that update to be honest i almost did quit the game but u could still go to normal lobby and play normally but then they removed the normal lobby and forced player to go to the trash lobby and to be honest it was the worst update ive ever seen on a tower defense game

ah..the 2020 TDS Hadcore update.
So i was really confused when it came out (at the time i was around level 45 or so) and when i came out obviously, there was alot of bugs and all and i disliked the hardcore stuff and it made me quit tds, I eventually came back in the later half of 2021 but i don't love the game as much as i used to back in 2020, though, i will always remember the good times I had in 2020.
I started playing when the event was about to start, the only thing i remember was the amount of people that was playing,sadly i stopped playing before the event starts because i lost the acount.
Worst update is overhaul update. It broke my heart and i quited tds for a long time.
this was solely the worst update i have ever experienced in my entire life. first, event towers. I managed to get shredder, holiday archer, frost blaster, and swarmer, which were all very useful before the update. then came along overhaul. slasher, the terrible version of shredder, frost blaster, just a freezer with more damage, archer, the failure that cant do a single thing, and swarmer, pyro with a worse DoT with less rate of fire and a mediocre ability. the only good pre-overhaul event tower at this point is Gladiator, which you had to participate and win in the very first event, or spend a ton of robux to get. and its not just slightly better, but its miles ahead of every other pre-overhaul event tower combined. second, hardcore towers. before the overhaul update, you could unlock meta towers just by having fun and playing the game. but what did below say to that? no no, we cant have that, lets make every other lategame tower absolute garbage and make the only good towers locked behind a wall of mind-numbing pain and santity diminishing mode. who would even use ranger or turret compared to Accelerator and Engineer? third, reworking absolutely every tower in the game. i remember using electroshocker and dj before the overhaul update, and they were very fun and unique. electroshocker was more of a damage tower than a support tower, with cool graphics. dj had cool visuals, especially at max. i never managed to get mortar and pursuit in pre-overhaul because my account got hacked when i was around level 91, and just a few days later, mortar came out. but mortar and pursuit were both worth level 75 and 100. but now, are they really? the latest update tds has got has made them certainly better, but they still arent what they were before the overhaul update. outlaw was extremely powerful with hidden detection at base and small spash damage, but ranger is just a useless version of it. i hope your opinion on the overhaul update is swayed with this.
I remember before the event started I accidentally entered an elevator and it didn’t let me leave and it didn’t let me rejoin so I missed the entire event

It'd be cool to see the best TDS update ever, honestly, I'd say it was egg hunt 2020, considering that was when I started the game. I just remembered playing gold mode a lot, owning and using the John tower, and just generally enjoying the game more, mostly because it was more fun for me cause I was new.

i started playing in august 2019, and i quit after the live event when hardcore update was released, the update was a let down, and the game didn't feel the same, though i just recently came back to the game and i am trying to get back into it again, i think its definitely grown on me and gotten better since then

The John "rework" is probably the saddest thing that i have seen not only it was my favourite tower it was a very useful tower.

the devs should have time to fix up, beta test, and other things before releasing it. blaming it on "community pressure" was not it. maybe dont announce the date and beta test first.
what's the update now, it's useless, I play on mobile and there are sams bugs, I can't take exclusive towers and almost even harcore towers. for me the ubdate is a bad idea to make a new ui.
So as someone that started playing at the beginning and getting archer and lazy couch, I’ve always hated hardcore so much that I didn’t grind for the accel, here I am level 142 and only NOW start grinding for the accel and I hate it, i just wish paradoxum had just a little bit more time to fix the event
