Upon its invention, many European composers took note of the saxophone's unique ability to blend with both brass and woodwinds. But its adoption by jazz musicians meant prejudice (and racism) kept it out of the standard classical symphony orchestra and off the concert stage. It's good to see it getting its due. If you didn't know who composed this piece, it could easily be mistaken for a lost work of Poulenc's.
Never heard it till today. Great duo. Great piece. Very 30s sound.
