  • Hey guys! I wanted to do a review on the Fanola No Yellow / Purple Shampoo, which I am in LOVE with! I purchased this shampoo after hearing all the hype, and wanted to show how this product removes unwanted yellow/brassy tones from lightened/bleached hair. This also can be used as a toner, thats how efficient it is! If you have any questions, please leave it in the comments below. Thanks! :)

    For everyone wondering how long she left it in for, in past comments she said she normally leaves it on for 15 minutes (monitoring it)

    I just shampoo with this 3 days a week & leave on for 2 minutes. Amazing results but use a great conditioner if you choose to use it this often. Best product ever! 👍👍

      Hi Nicole! 💖💖 Awww you are too sweet! Of course, I’m glad I could help in any way! It’s great because it removes any impurities/products on the hair from styling, so once it’s clean the purple shampoo can really be absorbed! 😘

    So I watched your video and my product arrived an hour ago. I have a little more encouragement now that I watched your video. My hair stylist who has done my hair for a long time and is a friend also has repeatedly told me to use purple shampoo. I had 1 that I didn't see barely any results from. This time personally I believe my hair turned more orange than yellow but I asked her again and she insisted to get the purple Fanola. I do believe it will work simply because it will counteract brass. I have seen several pics of similar colored hair online and the results were awesome. I was advised not by my stylist but couple other people to put it on with my shampoo for about 3-5 minutes the 1st time and see how it turns out. We do need a great conditioner as well. I have Serious Conditioner which I love. So wish me luck. I can't see it would hurt either way and finally I should see results. Thank you

    But you'd done your roots in the ultimate image ? The first was with regrowth and so the residues from rinsing that off, would have opened up your cuticles and allowed the purple to be more penetrative

    • @thegirlnextdoord
      @thegirlnextdoord  7 лет назад

      Hi! Yes, exactly. I actually filmed it at the time I did my roots (filmed the intro a few weeks later) because when I had roots, it wasn't able to capture how accurately the shampoo actually worked/changed the color. After any chemical service the hair is definitely more porous. But even when not having a chemical service, this shampoo does wonders. I use it to refresh my color in between doing my roots :)

    I foil my own these days & im definitely ordering it before my next time.. I'm getting this & not even gonna bother with toners .. As great as they are they have saved me several times when my hair pulled brassy..

    • @thegirlnextdoord
      @thegirlnextdoord  8 лет назад

      Exactly...toners are wonderful and work magic when the color just isn't what you'd wished it would be. But if you are able to get your hair to level that you like without toning (for YEARS I used to highlight and never needed to tone) this shampoo will do the trick. And even if you do wind up toning, using this shampoo will maintain the color in the weeks between you do your hair next. I swear by it!!! Lol...hope you love your purchase as much as I did!

      @thegirlnextdoord  Год назад

      Thank you for your kind words Victoria! 😍 I usually do a quick lather with a small amount, and rinse it Slightly (it should still be soapy). This will get rid of anything sitting on the cuticle so it absorbs well. Let it sit for about 15 minutes and rinse! 2-3 times a week should be plenty! 💕 If you feel it’s still not the color you wish, you may have to lighten it a touch more and that’ll do the trick 🤗

      Hi Rose!!! Oh no 😰 It sounds to me like your hair may not have lighted enough! If you are still seeing a lot of yellow, you are most likely stuck at a darker level blonde than you’d like to be. The Fanola shampoo works wonderful, but if your blonde is still too dark, you won’t get to see the shampoos potential. Unfortunately the only way to fix that is to lighten your blonde more (a professional will be able to do this with little/no damage since it won’t be extreme lifting). Seems like you’re stuck at an “in between” yellow blonde when you really would like to be a pale blonde, right?

    • @thegirlnextdoord
      @thegirlnextdoord  5 лет назад

      Coleen Parker Hello Coleen! Yes that’s correct, I did bleach my roots. The dark brown in the beginning of the video is my natural root, and then the end result was after I applied bleach to lighten the brown root. The shampoo wouldn’t have much effect on brown hair. It is made to remove unwanted yellow/orange tones from blonde hair. Hope that helps! 🙂

    Thank you so much for the video! =) You really convinced me so I ordered the shampoo but now I'm not quite sure whether it also works if I didn't dye my roots anymore? So you can imagine that my natural hair color is pretty dark blonde but the rest looks quite similar to your hair color. Do you think that the roots will stay the color they actually are or will they also get this nice silvery shimmer? Because I really don't want to have a clear border between that nice color and my natural color! :D Thank you in advance, love your channel!

    • @thegirlnextdoord
      @thegirlnextdoord  7 лет назад +2

      Hello doll! Honestly- its one of the most conditioning shampoos I've ever used. Its a very silky and thick shampoo. It goes on very smooth and doesn't leave the hair with that stiff, brittle feeling as most shampoos do. I wouldn't see any problem in using it- only thing I WOULD SUGGEST**** is if you have very broken, damaged pieces, they WILL absorb the purple muchhhh faster than the healthy pieces. I would be careful using it on those spots because they will take the purple tone and may even take on the purple color. As long as you monitor those spots you should be okay, definitely use on very wet hair to be safe. Let me know if you have any other questions!! xoxo

    Hi! I use a box dye on my roots every 2 weeks. The color always turns out more yellow. Would this be good to use after doing my roots? I also wear permanent blonde hair extensions that are also more yellow. Do you know if I can use the shampoo on them? Thanks and loved the video!

    • @thegirlnextdoord
      @thegirlnextdoord  7 лет назад +1

      Yes, thats exactly what this shampoo was made for! :) You can use it on your own hair and on extensions as well. The extensions may absorb the color a bit faster, so I'd leave it on the extensions less than your normal hair (for ex, leave the shampoo on your hair 15 minutes, and on your extensions 10). You'll notice a change!

    I’m using this too- from Salon Guys as well :) but my blonde hair is turning out with blue/green streaks. I’m just using it in the shower and was washing it like shampoo and rinsing out after about just 1 minute of scrubbing. Suggestions? Should I just apply to roots and ends or on outer layers but not scrub? Help!

    • @thegirlnextdoord
      @thegirlnextdoord  4 года назад

      Hello Jenne! 🤗 So I did notice the same on certain strands where my hair was over processed and a bit porous! It would pick up blue/purple because the damaged hair was absorbing it faster than my healthier strands. I waited for about a week or two and didn’t use it at all, and once that discoloration went away continued. Also, you can mix it with another non-purple shampoo do water it down a bit. Or use the conditioner, which is less pigmented! ♥️

  • @charisse102112

    could I use this in between my joico color balance blue shampoo or would you recommend using a regular shampoo instead of the blue one?

    • @thegirlnextdoord
      @thegirlnextdoord  8 лет назад +1

      Hi Charisse! I don't see any harm in that :) They basically do the same things, only the blue joico shampoo is to eliminate any orange/brassy tones. The purple shampoo is to eliminate yellow (it goes by the color wheel, and what color cancels out what color).

  • @francescareese7118
    @francescareese7118 8 лет назад +1

    Hi Danielle, great video! I have balayage in several different shades of blonde. I'm not sure if you can answer this, but if I use this will it still keep all the different colors different or meld it all in to one single shade? I'm assuming the darker blonde (which is slightly brassy will go up a bit and the lighter blond which is more yellow will go up and so on.....) will get be reduced in brassiness and the lighter blonde tones reduced thus keeping dimension of the colors so it's not one full blonde color. I'm probably not being clear, but hope you can answer! Thank you!

    • @irisfoo12
      @irisfoo12 8 лет назад +1

      It prob wont be a huge contrast because im assuming when you got it toned in a salon they used different toners for each section. The shampoo will tone down the yellow and brass but i wouldnt assume that itll give you dimension.

    • @francescareese7118
      @francescareese7118 8 лет назад

      Thanks! They tone with one color and I still have a lot of dimension... I'll probably just carefully concentrate on my more light brassy areas to be safe! Appreciate your letting me know!

    • @thegirlnextdoord
      @thegirlnextdoord  8 лет назад +1

      Hi Francesca! Thank you so much love! Lol I know exactly what you're saying!! Very recently a friend of mine had the exact same question about her hair. Good news- using this shampoo won't affect the dimension. You'll still have your contrast! The only way that the dimension will be affected is by bleaching it at the salon again (which you wouldn't want to do since you like the different shades of blonde). This shampoo won't be able to lift/change the level of your hair color like bleach does. What it WILL do- is tone it to a different shade- by removing al the brassiness in your hair. So rather than have warmer dimensional shades of blonde, you'll have a cooler shade- still keeping your dimension in the process. It will change the tone- but it won't affect the actual level of the highlight. I hope that makes sense!! :) Let me know if you have any other questions!

    The color after using it the purple shampoo, gorgeous? The color stays or perhaps fade after you wash your hair again?

    • @thegirlnextdoord
      @thegirlnextdoord  7 лет назад +1

      Hello Karmita! The great thing about this is, its not like a hair dye that fades as you keep washing it. Since you're actually using the shampoo to deposit color, all you have to do is wash it again and there ya go! I would suggest washing your hair with the shampoo 1/2 times a week to make sure that you keep your tone nice and icy. And any time you feel like your hair is picking up any yellow, all you have to do is wash it again.

  • @UrbanBeautie07
    @UrbanBeautie07 7 лет назад +1

    How long does this last because I only wash my hair twice a week but because it's not real toner does it color it permanently or only temporarily?

    • @thegirlnextdoord
      @thegirlnextdoord  7 лет назад

      If you wash your hair with this twice a week, that is definitely enough to keep up the color that the toner deposits. Every time you use the shampoo it is depositing more deep purple tones which get rid of brass and yellow. If you do tone it and then use this shampoo for maintenance in between, it will no doubt keep your hair icy!

      Hello! Yes I did! I did my roots blonde, and since it was nice and freshly done I used the shampoo and let it sit on my hair for 15 minutes or so. Thats the general rule of thumb I go with- 15 minutes to start and then if you want it more ice, keep using it every time you shampoo :)

If you want to just get rid of a little yellow I would suggest just quickly washing your hair with it and then using it just a little longer in incriments for more drastic results. Because the formula for this is so strong I would suggest looking into the Bed Head Dumb Blonde Purple Toning Shampoo as it is not as strong and a cheaper option for what you want to accomplish.

      Hey Katrina!! If you're looking for a little boost in your color, I would definitely recommend. This shampoo is amazing because it revives the hair when it gets to that in-between-color stage- where you need to just refresh the color a bit. Even if you use it for 5-10 minutes, you will notice a difference. It will be more vibrant and fresh looking again (as a blonde I'm sure you know that feeling when you revive your color! lol) Its the best!!

    Great video!! Thank you for doing the thorough review. Do you know if this product would be more or less effective if used on dry hair instead of wet, and left for 15 minutes? I've read of some people only using it on dry hair. Let me know what you think, thanks 😁

    • @thegirlnextdoord
      @thegirlnextdoord  7 лет назад +1

      Thank you hun! Oh yes- using it on dry hair will definitely make it more effective!! HOWEVER*** I don't necessarily suggest putting it on dry hair because if the porosity of your hair is compromised in certain spots- it will absorb a LOT faster in those areas. For example, I had an area 2 inches down from my root that was very over processed from bleach, and this area would just absorb the shampoo SO much quicker than the rest of my hair. This part would be a much darker gray while the rest was a lot lighter.....I would use this on damp hair just because it helps even out the porosity. And trust me, you'll see a different wet too!! Xoxoxo

    • @thegirlnextdoord
      @thegirlnextdoord  8 лет назад

      Hi Diana!! I would highly recommend this shampoo for you! It will work in the meantime until the next time you bleach your hair- the only way you'll be able to get out of the orange stage that you're stuck in, is to eventually lighten your hair again...slowly while giving the hair some time to recoup (I'd wait about a week or more). Hair goes through stages as it is lightened. It goes from brown- red- orange- yellow- blonde. This shampoo will help you tremendously! It will work on eliminating as much orange/brass as possible for you. However, if you're stuck in the orange stage you will have to lighten it again to get it a pale blonde.

    • @thegirlnextdoord
      @thegirlnextdoord  7 лет назад

      I don't think it necessarily makes the hair healthier, BUT since you can use this shampoo for a toner (instead of actually toning the hair which uses developer to penetrate the cuticle) you can avoid doing another process on the hair by just shampooing it to tone. I would also use conditioner either way- a deep conditioner is best for hair thats been freshly bleached. No need to mix it with anything!

    hey!!!My hair is blonde,I do want more ashy gray tone though ,I used it once and left it in hair for 5 mins,didn't do too much,a little lighter though !But do u think I should use on dry hair to get more of that result?And how long do you think I should leave on?Thankyou!!!:)

    • @thegirlnextdoord
      @thegirlnextdoord  7 лет назад

      Hi Erica! :) Using this product on dry hair will certainly notice more of a difference! What I do is a use a spray bottle with water in it to just moisten the hair ever so sightly, it helps the hair to evenly absorb the color from the shampoo...Just so that its barely wet (imagine walking outside when its foggy and misting out- thats how your hair should feel). As blondes we tend to have areas that are more processed which is why I like to do this step to be safe! Then after that, apply the shampoo and let it sit for at least 15 minutes. I usually put it up in a clip and let it sit. After 15 mins, you can check and see if the shade is ashy enough for you. If not, then just leave it on a bit longer! I'm sure you'll be able to notice a difference at that point :)

    hi......can you tell me the benefits of using this shampoo.........and does it change the colour of our hair?

    • @thegirlnextdoord
      @thegirlnextdoord  7 лет назад

      Hello! If you have highlights, balayage, an ombre, or light brown hair that tends to become brassy/ orange/ yellow, this shampoo will remove those tones and give it a more balanced color. If your hair is dark brown/black, you probably won't see much of an affect because this will only work on lightened hair. This shampoo is great for in between color services to get rid of the dull brassiness hair generally pulls.

      Yes ma'am! If you're putting it on dry hair I would spritz the hair with water so that it evens our the porosity of the hair a bit, and leave the shampoo on for about 15 minutes at a time while monitoring it. You can always put it on again if you'd like more pigment. Rule of thumb for me is 15 minutes :)

      Hi Hana! No need to wash with a normal shampoo- you can use this as a regular shampoo. What they say to do it wash your hair once and rinse it out (this is just to clean the hair and remove impurities- otherwise if you hair is clean you can skip this step). Then, apply shampoo and leave it on your hair to sit for however many minutes you desire.

    • @thegirlnextdoord
      @thegirlnextdoord  8 лет назад

      Since you're blonde, try damp, towel dried hair first for about 15-20 minutes for about 3/4 times a week, and see how you like your result. That should do the trick. If you still feel like you'd like more yellow gone, you can try it on mostly dry hair (I still spritz it with water to ensure it absorbs evenly-since blonde hair is very porous). Leave it on for a smaller amount of time on dry hair- no more than 5 minutes at a time I'd suggest! Good luck- let me know how it goes!!

      I’ve been using Fanola Purple shampoo about 3 months 2x a month and my hair is definitely getting lavender! I’ve been trying to grow out my natural gray, which nobody seems to know how to help me do that! So I ran across this product. My hair had been bleached with some dark blonde and light brown highlights. So it worked really well, blending in the different gray roots with the bleached hair. But I am now noticing lavender. I hope it eventually washes out, so I’m going to stop using it for awhile to see how it looks!

      Danielle Lisa which is the best toner for dark hair ??

    • @thegirlnextdoord
      @thegirlnextdoord  7 лет назад

      It depends on what tone you're looking for...did you want to get rid of gold? If so, I would use a toner with violet tones in it (usually labeled as "V" or "P"). If you want to get rid of red, use an ash toner (usually labeled as "A"). You also have to match the level of your hair...for example, 3 is darkest brown, 6 is medium brown, 9 is close to blonde. Im a big fan of Wella toners...if you go to a beauty store hopefully someone who works there can help you match your hair to a toner that suits you best!

      I would definitely suggest using Fanola No Yellow, but you may also need a toner as well if you're transitioning to yellow/blonde. This product works wonders- once you are at the right level of blonde you're looking to be at. It is also great in helping maintain the brightness. However, if you're still stuck in the yellow phase, a toner may work best, as it is stronger and uses developer.
