Omg, I needed this video! I've been so stressed out and worried about being able to find a research position but its good to know that its possible to gain acceptance without it.

For sure! Research was not a focus for me, and I think that demonstrating passion for medicine in other ways is entirely possible. Mine came through scribing and volunteering, others may do more shadowing. It's all up to you and what sort of experiences YOU want to achieve that will help you learn and show medical schools that you know what you're getting into.

In my experience some of the worst advice comes from "pre-med advisors" for applying to medical school. Heard plenty of nightmare stories of people taking their advice. I'd much rather listen to someone who keyword recently, got into medical school and has their own experience to share. Wholeheartedly agree, research isn't required, especially if you're passionate about other aspects of medicine and those other aspects is what brought you into the field.

Right?? I remember walking into my first pre-med advising meeting. I was a junior in Construction Engineering and Management, my gpa wasn't *great* but it was pretty good for an engineer. Immediately the advisor told me that I had a "tough road ahead" and likely "wouldn't make it" into medical school... like...wow...

i really needed this! im an incoming sophomore and im so worried that I wont get into med school if i didnt do research cuz on the page of admission requirements it says "interest in research" but i didnt know if it was mandatory or just a suggestion.

I mean definitely talk to admissions to see if it's something they prioritize--but don't do research if you don't want to! There's other ways to show your passion for medicine like I said in my video. So glad I could be helpful!!
