I am in the process of doing my first ravensburger after having completed a cheap brand and I am very impressed by the quality. I have used the glue on another puzzle brand and it does a great job but after glue I have immediately framed it so I don't know if it can hold without a front cover.

    • @truuschris277

@@robertnicolas6716 I finished a 1000 pieces puzzle from Ravensburg. How did you framed it? Because I tried to frame it in a poster/photo frame, but it was to large :( I am looking forward to hear from you :) Greetings :)

    • @robertnicolas6716
      @robertnicolas6716 5 лет назад +2

@@truuschris277 Well done !! So the first thing I did even before starting was to have a thin cardboard or thick piece of paper on which to build the puzzle then put the glue on since it sticks on the front and doesn't ruin the image. After that I used a Jysk or Ikea frame depending on the size. ( I recommend the Ikea ones because they have plexi instead of glass which is easier to maneuver ) You open the frame, take the back side which is usually a thick cardboard and pull the puzzle on it, after that you attach the front and Voila ! Better let the glue dry first just to be safe. Good luck !

As a german i did a lot of Ravensburger Puzzle. About 40-50 Minutes away from my home there is even a Ravensburger Shop which is amazing. Went there once and i felt like im in puzzle heaven.
Unfortunately Puzzles needs a lot of space (the little boxes are amazing! wish we could have them too instead of the big boxes), they are expensive (they aren't really expensive when you see all the stuff behind but for me they are) and i only do it once. I would love to trade them but i am the only person in my family and of my friends who are into this.
I love to see how excited you are. It is really nice to find someone who loves to puzzle too!

Hey Karen! I´m from Germany and my childhood puzzle memories are filled with Ravensburger. But it is hard, when you do a jigsaw with thinner or broken pieces from another brand. Ravensburg is a really nice city in Bavaria, in the south of Germany. It also has a puzzle museum ;-) If you want to come to Germany, I would recommend you to come in the end of Oktober, because then there is the "Spielemesse Essen in North Rhine-Westphalia (in the City Essen, yes. We have a city called "Food" ;-) ). I´m there every year and for me it´s like paradise! There is so much to discover and of course so much to buy! There is another big trade show in the "near" of Ravensburg, in a City called Nürnberg with a beautiful christmas market, but sadly this trade show is in summer.

The pieces are hard and when they get together, I can hold the puzzle in one hand and they don't scatter around. If you agree, I really want to send you a plastic puzzle, I can offer the shipping fee, just let you experience the other types of puzzle, and it can amaze you.

That is so shocking about the missing pieces! I have a bunch of Ravensburger, for me and my toddler. I'll buy Ravensburgers at the thrift store even if I don't love the image because I know at least it will feel nice to put together. This puzzle would be so much better if there was something in the middle. I like the pencils but the drab blue middle looks unfinished and like they just gave up on the design. Love your videos and being able to geek out virtually with another puzzle enthusiast.

After a puzzling hiatus I always feel that I don’t much mind doing puzzles with so-so quality if I love the image. But immediately after one of my Ravensburgers hits the table I remember how inferior most other brands are. Everything about the quality and craftsmanship is spot on. Especially love the blue backing! Always easy to spot a piece that has fallen on the floor. I think their pieces walk the perfect line between sticking together vs. crumbling apart. I hate a puzzle that sticks too well together, one of the best thing about a Ravensburger puzzle is that disassembling it is nearly as enjoyable as putting it together. It holds and holds and then just collapses perfectly. Love it! Not to mention, after tens of thousands of their pieces crossing my path, perhaps only a dozen or two have had any amount of splitting/separating. They are just so sturdy. in my opinion Ravensburger is the gold standard of puzzles.
My only gripe is that I wish they had some more adventurous images. They have enough that are beautiful or exciting, but soooo many times I find myself thinking that the images they choose are barely worthy of the quality. I am especially dismayed by how many of their images now use digitally edited photo/art collage; looks okay from a distance, but up close these digitally assembled images look cheap. I have in mind the world of books puzzle, their numerous under sea collage puzzles, and even now some of their illustrated scenic images are clearly digitally collaged.

I looove Ravensburger. It’s great quality with pretty much an endless catalogue to choose from. It was really bad luck that the one you decided to record is defective.

I know I'm three years late, nut I just got into puzzling (and puzzle videos for that matter) and since I live in Germany I'm doing a lot of Ravensburger puzzles.
What I love about the size of the 1000p boxes is that you can separate the puzzle into exactly 4 pieces who then fit perfectly into the box :)

Nice video, thanks. I am a fan of Ravensburger puzzles. I have done a few 3,000 piece puzzles. I have the 9,000 piece zodiac puzzle but I have not started it because I am not sure where-when I have enough space-time to work. Regarding puzzle glue, I do not do it because with glue it would no longer be a puzzle and to me the joy and the art of the puzzle is in assembling and disassembling it. I don't use glue on my Rubik's cube either. I do wish there was a simple way to display a large puzzle on the wall and still be able to disassemble it and put it back in it's box.

I am from Italy, Ravensburger is like the standard for any board game and puzzle, you can find them everywhere. The other big company here is Clementoni, which is an Italian company.

I completed my first one of these today. Well fitting pieces that are satisfying by the way they snap together. However I'm less happy that after 10hrs (new to this), there's a missing piece.

That for med is a normal size of a puzzle box. Most of my puzzles has the same box shape as Ravensburger. For storing it’s big, but for puzzling it’s great. At least for us that don’t sort out puzzle pieces. I always keep every piece in the box and looking for my next pieces from there.

I'm always a bit stunned to see how many people adore ravensburger. I live in Sweden and in my local book and puzzle store i find that i like most of their other brands better. I always get a lot of dust from the ravensburger puzzles which I haven't had a problem with when puzzling with other brands, but mostly I can never seem to move more than a couple pieces at a time before the picture starts to fall apart..

    I have done Ravensburger.
I'm a Puerto Rican living in Spain so there easily to get.
I have framed the two that I own. The Wonderful World of Disney 1 and 2. They're circular ones.
And yesterday I just finished a 1,500 Game of Thrones puzzle from Educa Borras (a Spanish brand). It game with the glue. It's packed on a envelope that you have to mix with water. Let it rest for 30 min. After applying it then you let it dry for 3 hours.
The instructions say that even with the glue you can, carefully, still take the puzzle apart.
    ...I won't. I will frame it.

I did quit a lot of Ravensburger puzzles when I was younger. I am from Germany and kind of grew up with that. They are also a game company and a publishing company. So I also read some of the books they sell and their games.

Im from Germany and my parents swore by Ravenburger so as a child I always had those and it stayed this way ever since cause I've tried a few other brands and I hated the quality compared to Ravensburger. That being said I've actually never experienced a missing piece or a duplicate 😳 it's insane that you got one with not only one missing piece but three!!😳 so sorry that happened

  • @kasimotinka123

I'm very used to Ravensburger as a brand (especially for puzzles but also for other games) because I'm from Germany. We do have other brands that produce puzzles here as well but they are just not as well known and of course also not of such great quality, so if I'm buying puzzles nowadays I usually only go for Ravensburger.
Fun story: There was one time I also thought that one piece was missing, I was so frustrated. I called customer services and they simply sent me a new one without the cardboard box - just the puzzle in the plastic bag. I didn't even have to send a picture of the finished puzzle with the gap or send them the cut out barcode (which would have ruined the box, what a shame that you would have to do that). They just believed me. I was very surprised by that. Later I found the missing piece again, it just fell on the floor while I was doing the puzzle outside on the terrace. So then I had the same puzzle twice. I gave the one without the box to a friend of mine and sent them a photo of the cover so they had the picture as well.

Very good review - think I'll buy a new one of theirs. They're widely available where I live. HEY - did you have a couple of pieces missing there Karen??? Edit - you DID!! They should have a library of puzzles and you can get your missing piece by putting the grid reference into an email. There is one puzzle company that does this but can't remember who.

There is a company called The jigsaw puzzle doctor, that can make missing pieces, but you have to send a huge chunk of the other pieces where you have a missing one so they can make it correctly.

My first Ravensburger was from 2009 (bought at Target). It is the only Ravensburger I have with random shaped pieces. In November I bought 2 1000 piece puzzles at Target by Colin Thompson “Cupboard” puzzles for $10 each. I think they must make limited quantities, for Target. They sell out really fast, so if you see one, buy it because it probably won’t be there the next time you go. Another rainbow type Ravensburger is “Traffic Jam” which consists of various colored metal toy cars.
I would like to see you do a review for Galison puzzles. They are also one of my top brands. I now have 15 of them. Five of those are by Michael Storrings. They also put out some 2 sided puzzles. It would be fun to see a video of a 2 sided puzzle. They are a small company. I only see them at Barnes and Noble,Target and at the Puzzle Warehouse.
If you are ever in St Louis you must stop at the Puzzle Warehouse. They have so many puzzle brands! You will feel like you are in heaven!
